So how long do they go with the two-headed QB before deciding on a definitive starter? I see where you can get by with it the first couple games. But, at the same time, it seems like they've had sufficient time to assess and define the roles. I can tolerate the ultraconservative offensive approach with OSU assuming we start seeing more diversity and more integration of playmakers. Is Bell really expecting to LEAN on the triple option business all season? Liked the D a lot. O-line didn't get completely dominated. There's some reason for hope. Hate to talk must wins this early, but it is IU football. Non-conference matchups have to be Ws.

Totally agree. Neither of those two (Mariotta/Mayfield) are clearly better than Minshew. If you want to say none of them have really show much other than they aren't full-time starters - I can see that.

Went from play-in to 2nd in B1G, sweep of Purdue, B1GT double bye, definitely in NCAA all with injuries and toughest conference schedule. So I'll call the regular season a success despite the disappointments (PSU, Iowa, NW 0 wins). For me to call post-season a success, have to improve on our NCAA performance from last year. So 1st round win a must, which would constitute a minor success. A significant success for me would be advancing to 2nd weekend. However, I'm far from confident we'll manage either of these. The frustrating thing, of course, is not being more confident in our ability to break through to Sweet 16 due to the key weaknesses that plagued us all year and added up to no victories against PSU, Iowa, NW. We struggle mightily against those offenses and we don't have consistent offensive contributions beyond TJD and JHS. Those offenses are common in the modern game and our supporting cast is as inconsistent and seemingly lacking confidence as ever - especially on the perimeter.

What I see in our two losses to PSU is they are so much better offensively. They’re balanced with multiple consistent options, several adept from deep. We have only two guys you can count on game to game and neither is a threat from3.
