  1. I do truly worry for people that can’t just walk somewhere or wait in line without staring at their phone.
  2. She previously was a softball player for the Raybestos Brakettes and the Orange Lionettes.[2] She also had set records on the LPGA Tour as a golfer and on the USA women's national basketball team, and was a player and coach for the Connecticut Clippers volleyball team. That’s a quadruple threat!
  3. Unquestionable badass for sure. One of the greatest. She would slay Serena in a pool.
  4. Sure, it’s tough to say GOAT across sport lines, which is why I mentioned Marinanne Vos. No other woman could do what she has done on a bike, but put her on a tennis court, or golf course, then all bets are off of course. I still think that Serena is my GOAT for women’s sports. She did so much during a time when it wasn’t as easy (more competitive) and faced a lot of backlash from people who hated her. And it just made her stronger.
  5. Surely you are not comparing her to Margaret Court? That was a different era with MUCH less competition, and I’m not even sure a couple of her championships should really count. Serena is a genuine badass and was the player no one wanted to face for many years. Even in her later days. She is easily the greatest, most dominant, women’s athlete outside of Marianne Vos in women’s cycling, who is also crazy dominant.
  6. That’s pretty great difference, hopefully you also feel a lot better.
  7. F*ck yeah, brother. I told him to leave space for one more year, and he said, “Why just one year?” Noted.
  8. Got word a few days ago that my bike frame was ready and started discussions on paint job. Went back and forth on how I wanted to finish off the IU-related part. Did not opt for the five stars on the brake bridge or the trident (sorry @IUFLA). But I did include a pretty cool nod to IUBB as you will notice if you look closely. Ben, who handles the painting for Horse Cycles, just posted this to his Instagram account. It looks INCREDIBLE. I have all the parts to start building except for pedals. Am waffling on those.
  9. Ha, I would love it if we could magically have a 32yo Knight at the helm again. At that age, he could still adjust/relate to today’s players probably.
  10. Coach Knight was a great coach. For me he has always been THE coach of my youth and the architect of those teams that I hold so dear. I appreciate what he’s done for the program and am glad that he is “back in the program.” Love seeing the videos of him in Bloomington and so happy that he has returned. But he did falter at the end and I’m grateful that we moved on from him. I can appreciate him and pick on his flaws.
  11. I feel like Coach K adapted a little better than Knight. I’m really glad he (Knight) is not our coach to find out though. Was already sick of his BS when I was at IU. I can’t imagine how today’s recruits would react to him.
  12. Bob Knight would be an absolute nightmare of a coach in these times. Mediocre recruits and SO much whining. Not enough winning. Complaining about a recruits hair would not do well today. I say this as a huge Knight fan from back in the day - he was my ideal coach growing up. But, he would not do well these days as a recruiter. Not fussed over losing out on Carr though. We need actual shooters.
  13. We are in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn and always open to an IU Hoosiers fan visit! Yep, our tastes sound similar - I like a big bright, piney IPA, not a thick, overly fruity one. Unfortunately, the tastes are STILL trending to the hazy, thick IPAs that don’t even taste like beer. I often steer towards a lower ABV lager or pilsner that still understands what beer should taste like. Voodoo Ranger is grocery store beer. Not all grocery store beer is bad, but this in one of them that’s definitely lower tier. I had someone leave a six-pack for us after staying in our place for a weekend. I drank a couple of them, but they are not my style at all. High ABV, but kind of blergh taste.
  14. I have like three AMAZING beer shops in walking distance here and two of them stock a lot of Heady Topper. You would almost think you were in Vermont with the selection. That said, nothing it like Vermont where some of the gas stations have beer caves stocked with the good stuff. First time I visited there (Foam, Frost, Zero Gravity) I was shocked at the selection at two gas stations we stopped at. I’ve got to the point lately, where I focus more on West Coast IPAs. I’ve become so sick of thick IPAs that taste more like OJ than beer.<—- I’m looking at you Other Half Brewing… I’ll order Jai Alai and Sculpin if I see them on the list when I’m out. Those two are always solid.
  15. Some good ones in there - Heady Topper and Sip of Sunshine are staple beers here in our household. I like Lagunitas, but feel like their quality has went down in the last few years.
  16. She has certainly earned her retirement. What a force in tennis, and athletics in general. No one wanted to face her in her prime.
  17. The people are the worst. And there are just so many more of them here, and you are always RIGHT next to them. But honestly, the people are also sometimes the best. Mixed bag, for sure.
  18. Hopped on the sub today to go to Summer Streets in Manhattan - they close down Park Avenue from City Hall all the way up to 109th St AND offer free bike rentals on a first come first serve basis. It’s a big deal here each August. Got on the first car at 6:30AM and some asshat was blasting Drake’s new album at full blast on his boombox. Car was pretty crowded, but everyone was eyes straight ahead mode. My wife was like, “The new Drake is so lame. Lets switch to another car at he next stop.” We switched at next stop and sat across from what looked to be a drunk slumped over his legs. Turned out he was itching and picking on his sore-ridden legs. I watched as he picked scabs (or bugs) off of his leg and then carefully stash the scab/bug into the cracks of the seat behind him. After a stop or two of this, we got up and moved to the other end of the car. I’m still kind of skeeved out by that. But we had fun at Summer Streets! 6ED07921-AEEC-4A1B-A44E-389849406F8D.MOV
  19. Wow, they did that up right. That’s exactly what i would do.
  20. That’s pretty cool space to live in! I’ve always wanted to convert an old barn into a living/work space.
  21. We have to drive through Jersey to get to our place in MD. I will NEVER leave Brooklyn w/o enough gas to get all the way through Jersey. Am not letting someone else pump my gas.
  22. Nice! And good to har it’s working out. Not sure I can hold out that long. I know a lot of people worry about “being bored” in retirement, but I have so many things I want to do and don’t have time for now. Am really looking forward to it.
  23. If you don’t mind me asking, how old were you when you decided to pack it in? I will do the same thing - retire from the real job but work a couple of days each week somewhere. My wife is 11 years younger than me, so she doesn’t plan to retire for awhile. I just turned 54, so I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I had thought 55 would be the target, but now I’m thinking 57.
  24. This terrifies me. One of our big dreams was to retire to live in CA with a bunch or animals, but we both realize that we probably could not take the worry/stress of animals perishing in a fire. And fires have become so common that we realize it will never be for us. Now, I’m going to be worried about your horses…
