Why do we do this to ourselves?...LOVE is why... if one cant fully love then one can not fully live.

Yep, it’s love. I still tear up thinking about our sweet Chloe sometimes when I see a picture or video of her on my phone. We were able to adopt a rescue dachshund a few months after, and she has really helped us heal. Thinking of you guys.

Wish you trained the nurses who IV'd me when I had my reconstructive jaw surgery.  They collapsed all the veins in my right hand and took 3 tries on the left. I think that was the worst of it all.

It’s definitely a skill you develop. I also think I’ve always beeb pretty empathetic, which I think made me more careful and considerate about the pain of others. They were already nervous b/c of surgery, so I always took the time to speak to them and distract them while I worked. My wife has the worst time EVERY time. It usually takes at least 3 or 4 times and leads to bruising.

Thank you. Ive been up 3 days straight now giving him IV and meds... just couldnt save him. Had too many issues to fix, just his time but it makes it hard being a Corpsman and not able to save everyone and everything...ya know

Am really sorry to hear this and unfortunately know that pain well. We lost our 15 yo dachshund 18 months ago in similar circumstances. She had a stroke and we were doing everything to save her including feeding her with a dropper and using subQ fluids  twice a day.

Yukio knew how much you were trying to help him. Sorry for your family’s loss, my friend. It’s so painful to have to say goodbye to such a loved family member.

Ever done CPR on someone who wasn't totally "healed" from open heart surgery? It'll curl your toes. Snap crackle pop. Like pushing down on a bag of popcorn. The feeling never leaves you... since that was 25+ yrs ago, I can honestly say, it never leaves you.

No, but I have felt that crack when giving CPR back in the ER/ward days in the Navy. There weren’t many of us enlisted on the wards or in ER they trusted to be fully on duty, but then they did trust you, the doctors (who were playing cards or fairly drunk) would trust us with a lot of things that they probably should have been doing.

Honestly, I felt like we were more caring and thoughtful, b/c we didn’t want to screw anything up. I had to do my first intubation one night at 4am, when I had just crashed after a night of bar hopping. I sobered up damn quick for that, and somehow got the trach tube in on the first try. Was a young woman and I was terrified I would mess up. The anesthesiologist was screaming at me, b/c he was still pissed that he wasn’t able to get the IV in.

My specialty at the time was doing IVs for surgery - newborns, old people, anyone. M-F at 5am, I was the dude starting IVs for all of the surgery patients. I was the person who taught the new nurses how to do IVs on real people. I gave them two tries on the patient, and then took over. Then I let them practice on me, with a little local Lidocaine to numb their incompetent stabbing.

It's crawfish season around here... Love a good crawfish/shrimp boil. They opened this place just down the road from us in February.

Went there last week, and it's really good stuff...BYOB too 🙂

Man I love a good BOB place. Also had a LOT of crawfish back in the day when I visited my Louisiana friends hometown on leave in the Navy. Those were the days!

Don’t care. Meaningless conference tournament game.  There are no surprises left, and this team is what it is at this point in the season. Anything from a first round exit to a title is realistic. Let’s get it started.

Exactly. Don’t care about this tournament unless we need it for seeding in the real tournament. Would have love to win, but not going to let it impact my day for a second.

I know that’s conventional wisdom, but I wonder if an OSU/IU game would bring higher ratings. The IU//PU game would be big in IN, but OSU has a much larger fan base than PU. OSU win and in is a more interesting story to the casual fan.

That is a very good point. Let’s just get to and win the title game. I’m all in this year!

Go Buckeyes.  It's not that I'm afraid to play Purdue again, or want OSU on game 5 in as many days.  I just hate Purdue.  Go Buckeyes.

It’s really hard to beat a team three times in a season, but I do think we match up well with Purdue. I don’t care either way, really. BUT, an IU/PU B1G Final would result in a lot of eyeballs watching our team right before the NCAAT.

Same formula applies = win the turnovers - win rebounds- keep the ball in front of you on D.

If IU can play the pick and roll well on D it will force psu to take tough threes or drive. And they will take a lot of threes one way or the other, so make them tough. Will IU chase over the screen to force the drive or go under and allow the threes?

Have to believe psu will fatigue at some point. Young or not, three straight days has to have an impact and yesterday they played OT. So making them work hard from the start is big.

    Go IU !

That’s why I wanted PSU, surely they are going to wear down and those threes will be harder to hit. Plus either team from PSU/NW would have been a revenge game.

I’m a nervous wreck. I’ll be honest, I have a bad feeling about tonight. I think I have BTT PTSD after all our struggles in this thing. We’ve not looked as sharp the last two games. We need to be dialed in from tip to 00:00.

I want this game, b/c I’m not a MD fan and I always want IU to win. But it’s nice this year not to be worried about our BTT being the only thing to get us into the NCAAT. We don’t HAVE to have this game to get into the NCAAT.

When: Friday, March 10th 9:00 pm EST or 25 minutes after game 9 ends

    Where: United Center, Chicago, Illinois

    TV: BTN

Maryland is coming off a BTT game 6 win over Minnesota. Before that, they had lost on the road to Ohio State and Penn State. They are now 3-1 in Neutral Site games (IU is 1-1)

The Terps beat IU on 1/31in College Park 66-55, one of our worst offensive showings of the year.

We outshot Maryland, but note the FT disparity.

The Terps have gone with the same starting 5 for the last 15 games...Reese, Scott, Young, Hart, and Carey, Emilien, Martinez, and Long all see double digit minutes off the bench.

This is a long, athletic team. The kind we have problems with at times. The pressed us last game and IU committed 11 turnovers.

Maryland is 6th in ORtg and 10th in DRtg in the Big 10.

We can win this game, but we have to control Donta Scott and Jamir Young better than we did last game, and we have to handle the press better.

    Go Hoosiers!

I thought I was going to have to post this when I woke up and checked the board. Good work!

Been to a few on that list, but Tokyo Record Bar is probably my favorite - it’s in a little, intimate basement in Greenwich Village. At the beginning of the meal, they hand out little cards with albums/songs available to play that night. Everyone gets to pick one or two songs and then the DJ starts playing them while you have your meal. Pretty cool to wait and hear your song and see how others are enjoying it.

BUT, no list like that is complete w/o the ULTIMATE SHIT SHOW restaurant. I’m still bummed I missed dining at “Ninja New York” before it closed.

I think this is still the best restarant review ever written:

    Quote

CONFUSING the point of a restaurant with the mission of a "Saturday Night Live" skit, Ninja New York deposits you in a kooky, dreary subterranean labyrinth that seems better suited to coal mining than to supping. You are greeted there by servers in black costumes who ceaselessly bow, regularly yelp and ever so occasionally tumble, and you are asked to choose between two routes to your table.

The first is described by a ninja escort as simple and direct. The second is "dark, dangerous and narrow," involving a long tunnel and a drawbridge that descends only when your escort intones a special command, which he later implores you to keep secret.

I recommend a third path: right back out the door.

Protect them. At some point the junk wax era caused by Topps flooding the market, will make a come back. If you ever want to move them yell at me.

They are pretty sweet - the Youngblood twins, Vince Ferragamo, Lawrence McCutcheon. Can’t imagine ever moving them, but now I know how to if I want to.

They are probably not well protected. Just in a little tin box.
