Understand and glad that wasn't near you guys. I spent 2 years there right after IU. Even in 1997 Green doesn't mean go...only imagine it now.

That video is just plain awful. My cousin was a bike enthusiast....now the only time they ride is if they load bikes up and go somewhere away from city. I'm afraid NYC/Manhattan is breaking them down. Starting to look for jobs out West.

Yeah, my wife gets so nervous if I’m commuting on my bike. I always just assume that every car is out to intentionally kill me or maim me. I also don’t really engage with crazy anymore. Drivers will run you over and not stop. Pretty often they have obscured or NO PLATES on their cars to evade school zone camera tickets.

I think Manhattan is definitely falling apart at the seams in many ways. The number of times I’ve almost stepped in human shit in the subway has went from never to a few times a week now.

We feel pretty isolated in our neighborhood, but when we go into Manhattan it’s just a different world these days. I’ve always hated Manhattan, but now there is nothing there for me. My wife still likes to go to shows/plays/museums, etc. So we’ll be here for a bit longer.

There is a lot to be said for living here, but I can see why people feel the need to leave. Aren’t your cousin and their family in upper Manhattan?

  2. I normally don’t post in post game threads after losses. Just would rather think and do anything than think or talk about the loss. Was surprised to see that I did post on that one:

First 10 minutes looked okay for the most part. We were competing. I was even hopeful a bit in the early first half, but man the wheels came off fast. My first inclination is to buckle down for another extended losing streak and wallow in misery, but I’m going to try to have some faith over the next few games.

We would not have lost all of these games at full strength, but that doesn’t matter anymore. We have to play the guys who we have. Let’s just win the next game and go from there.

Hey @Lostin76hope that UHaul scene wasn't close to you or anyone you know this morning. Scary stuff.

Further south in Brooklyn from us, but boy that doesn’t sound good. Drivers are pretty much unhinged in the city over the last year or so. Never seen such anger or asshattery.

This happened about ten days ago. Person rams guy on a cargo bike, knocking the guys’ dog out of the basket and then rams the bike again as they sped off.

We’ve started really trying to watch what intersections we cross and always give drivers at least 10 seconds after the red light before we cross.

This is looking to potentially be a big story. Likely one of the worst industrial accidents in US history but not much news about it yet.  Water, soil, animals and our food supply may be heavily contaminated.

Glad someone is posting about this. Seems like a much bigger deal than the attention it’s getting.

My wifes parents in Illinois have plans for fortifying their property.  They don't know about it yet but I have a pretty good idea how I would set things up.

I'll get back to the show.  I may just pay for a month, binge watch the season, then suspend or cancel the subscription.

Ha, I’m sure you have some ideas. This guy had a KILLER electrified fence with some gas flames if I recall correctly. I’ve also just copme to the realization that Nick Offerman is someone I would really en jopy just hanging out with. He’s really good friends with one of my favorite authors - George Saunders.

  6. I am all for better energy sources, but have no problem with gas stoves. Most people don’t. I think the studies are not strong enough to warrant outlawing gas stoves, or honestly restricting them in any way.

I feel like I lost brain cells reading that though.

"Suffice it to say, ‘ridiculous’ and ‘not true’ proposals don’t ordinarily involve a meeting with the Secretary of Energy — and where there’s smoke, there’s fire," Sutherland added. "Americans everywhere must demand Granholm and green energy extremists stay out of their kitchens.”

This is just deeply silly and unserious.

Finished the Amazon series “The English”. First since Covid I’ve become an emotional basket case, so it’s no surprise I ended this in tears. However, if you have any interest in how America treated the First Nations? That being said, this is an individual emotional exploration!

Have actually never heard of this, but it looks good. I’m adding to my list.

Am currently reading this one about that shameful period in our history.

I think when they get to prison eventually they're in for a really bad time. Can't protect them forever.

I hope they really do get to prison. This was a particularly bad one. I hope they get to prison and “accidentally forgot about in the yard” for a few hours.

I’m the first to admit that I have a complicated relationship with the police, but I’ve known some amazing men and women who were on the force. They never would have beaten someone like that and NEVER would have texted the photos for high fives. Just disgusting human beings who should not be able to have a moments peace the rest of their miserable lives.

  9. This dude needs to be tied to a fence and beaten to death by anyone who wants to take a swing.

As Tyre Nichols sat propped against a police car, bloodied, dazed and handcuffed after being beaten by a group of Memphis police officers, one of those officers took a picture of him and sent it to at least five people, the Memphis Police Department said in a document released by the state on Tuesday.

The document was sent to the Tennessee Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission as part of a request last month for the regulatory agency to decertify five officers involved in the beating. Those officers have since been fired and charged with second-degree murder in Mr. Nichols’s death.

The decertification, which was requested by Chief Cerelyn Davis of the Memphis police, would make the fired officers ineligible to work as police officers in the state.

In the newly released documents, police officials said that one of the five officers, Demetrius Haley, admitted to sending a photograph of Mr. Nichols to at least five people, including two fellow officers, a civilian employee of the department and a female acquaintance. A sixth person also received the photo, the records state.

If we all remember, Rutgers was the second game after Trayce had taken a cortisone shot in the back, and he was dealing with a thumb injury...

If it takes him 19:20 to score his first field goal tonight, I'll eat somebody's hat...

Yeah, he looked like a stiff old man that game. I want nothing but dunks over and over raining down on their heads from TJD.

I fully expect him to almost demand the ball on our first offensive possession.  I think he is taking this game personally.

I’m betting he is too. Now, they need to dominate/embarrass them.
