Just asking since I don't know, but could he apply for another medical exemption if he is out for long??  🙄

Maybe? 🤷‍♂️. Ive heard of a couple other guys that were showing off their college themed aarp card. I think there's a guy at Townson that was in college durring Obamas first term.

  2. Ok, this idea is so crazy it just might work.  We are going to be quite the underdog against UConn and a loss there wont hurt us too much....so, strap a boot on X and have him sit. Tell the rest of the team (looking at you guards) "Our 15th year senior PG is out and we are playing the defending National Champions. Nobody expects us to win this game. So, men, go out and play the way you know how. No pressure, just do your job on the floor. Play loose, have fun and beat the fleas off them Huskies!"

Hate to be negative, especially this early in the season, but my expectations are really, really low for this game. Hoping we can keep it somewhere between 10-15 and not get blown out.

Biggest thing I'll be looking for, aside from XJ's health, is how/if Woodson shrinks the rotation at all against a good team.

Were the first 5 games tinkering and seeing what guys have, or is this 10-man lineup how we're going to play?

If Walker and to a lesser extent Sparks see much floor time Sunday we are in trouble. I think they will have spots this year where each will shine but i think it will be in B1G play not against tip tier out of conference teams.

CJ and Kaleb are going to have to pull up their big boy pants and do what they're supposed to without getting too hyped up and trying to do to much. Play solid D and make open shots when they come within the flow of the offense. If they, or any of the other bench guys try to force the action when they get in, it will get ugly quick.

If CJ has to play significant minutes, he needs to be counseled to not shoot at the rate he has been.  He's not a good shooter, but his athleticism can help out in other aspects of the game.

He only took 3 shots; a break away layup and 2 base line jumpers that were wide open and in rythm. Im not saying he needs to go bonkers and put up 10-15 shots or anything, but i didnt think he forced anything tonight and if he picks and chooses his shots like that going forward with maybe a 3 or two if they are there then he will be fine and get more confident.

Mgbako has a really clean shot, and needs to keep shooting 3s…once they start going in, he’ll be a game changer.

Going to need Cupps and X(when he returns) to take a few more shots from deep. They can both hit them and if they both can hit 1 or 2 in the game its going to open up things even more.

  6. I dont care if we switch on screens or if we dont switch on screens as long as everyone on our team knows which it is and plays accordingly. Its looked like most of the team is switching and there are a couple guys following thru the screen.  And for the love of all things holy, if we are going to dig at the post, dig and recover quick dont dig, dig, dig, dig....oh crap my guy hit another 3.

I actually thought the shot attempt was ok since he was open. But he almost air balled it, which isn’t good. He still doesn’t seem to be confident with his shot in games.

I liked the shot too. Wide open on a BLOB, he just needs to relax a lotta bit. I think he's pressing so much to contribute he's just too amped up.

I don't think anyone in this thread has said that, and I haven't, and this discussion has largely been you and me, with a few others chiming in who also haven't said it.

🙋‍♂️ i said it and it wasnt meant as a knock ok Malik. Start smaller, then you can bring Malik in at the 4 and have a talented front court to shoulder some of the scoring, then when the next round of subs come in, move Malik to the 5 and give Ware a break when we get more of a 4-1 look again.

I coached pee-wee basketball for 3 years....im somewhat of an expert on the matter.

  9. All jokes aside, i dont know what to think about this team. I think there are spots when we can and should play Malik and Ware at the same time but having 2 bigs on the floor leaves us always chasing our tails on defense and stuck in the mud on offense. I dont know who should play at this point though.

X, Trey, MM, Cupps & Ware is what id run with the most.

Let Malik be the rock of the 2nd unit, bring Gunn and Banks in for Cupps/Trey and MM and then work a break in for the other 2.

Id leave Walker and Sparks on the bench except for spot minutes.

It's like some pieces are there but in the wrong spots.

One of Ware or Malik need to be in the paint working with shooters (which we dont have enough of) and slashers (which dont understand the defense yet) spacing the floor.

  11. We help too much, go under screens and dont know where we're supposed to be......then trade 2's for 3's.  This is not a good recipie for winning at the moment. Id like to see somebody on our team absolutely lose their 💩 on the rest of the team when they are playing with their heads in their @sses.

I know the roster isn't constructed for a small lineup, but geez we're just so stagnant and clogging the lane with these two big lineups.

100%!!!  Most teams are going to a 4-1 lineup and we are fielding teams that constantly get beat on the perimeter and gives up 3s.

I don't see any Hulls in him, respectfully.

Kraft, though, that's a great one.

Little white pg thats a good shooter is where i got hulls from. No in depth game breakdown was done.

More of a PIA on defense than hulls but not quite as good of a shooter.

Mr. Tyra Buss came to mind too.

I'm looking forward to Banks playing.  He may be a 6th starter.  I see him as a guy that us going to stick like glue on a guy, grab rebounds like Dennis Rodman, hit open 3s.  But I was also pleased with what Leal brought.  Man I wish he could stroke from 3.

The depth is truly going to prove to be an asset.  I wonder how much pressing or trapping we throw into the mix this year.  With the length and depth and wanting to be more a transition team, speed things up a bit.

Too often we (im as guilty as anyone) talk about the depth we have going into a season just to play 7, maybe 8 after Janurary. I think the potential for depth would be a better phrase to use.

"If the guys play up to their ceilings this year, our depth could be a real asset."

I went to the game today and noticed a little competition between Cupps and X.

It was almost like X would shut his guy down, turn to Cupps and say "See, like that that"

Then Cupps would say, here, Hold my water bottle I'll be right back....

    Than X would say..................

Back court is in EFFING session !!! We good guys !

Just from that little exchange, you can tell we've come a long way from the RMK years...they'd be yelling "Hold my beer n watch this!" 🤣

Allen is clearly struggling but my word, I am sure I could dig up posts here calling him Jesus Reincarnate in 2020.

It's a big, complex game.  Nothing is as simple as a one sentence post on a message board

Great person, good leader of men.....needs better football minds around him to be successful.
