the toughest part about this is that IU football is not and has not been prominent. IU would be a tough final destination sell even for an IU guy, I would think. The second part of that is.... there isnt one. IU will need to take a flyer on someone, or if they want to go for proven winner with experience, someone a bit tainted like Pat Fitzgerald. Art Briles is a bit too much for me. But the latter seems to be an obstacle in itself considering IU usually likes the higher ground of being a figure of ethics and morals.

Here is my contribution. This is the general idea(s) of the thread currently that are leaving me confused. fire CTA, but we dont have an idea of a replacement. Names mentioned are out there....Dabo? 🤣 Fire CTA now, but wait a couple of years for someone. move CTA down to DC "we" want a proven P5 coach with a history of winning and experience. There are maybe 30 of those out there, and none of them would come to IU.

The majority of this thread confuses me.

i will be the first to admit that i am a dummy sometimes. But doesn't that work both ways? Like if another program were to try to poach CTA, they would have to foot the buy out? If that is the case, that would be a deterrent for poaching. I think everyone and their mother was all in on CTA after the covid season. i dont think anyone saw this big of a let down happening. But also we are in this big of a let down because of that season. Without it, this would be the run of the mill since the 80's and no one would care regardless.

More than financially afloat (see below). Dolson gave CTA an extension after probably the best season in IU football history. definitely in the last 40 years. Most of us would have been baffled if it didnt happen. He also single handedly brought in not only CMW, but put the system in place to help with the change (Thad Mata). Teri Moran extension.... yes, he swung and missed on 1, but lets forget about all of the other programs that seem to be flourishing with the re-commitment to IU athletics.

I think it does mean something… everything said Ledlum was IU bound until the very last minute… again doesn’t mean it’s final, but it seems like we are in better position currently.

Generally speaking....isn't that part of the allure of IU basketball? The history. The current success surely isn't I wouldn't think. However, i dont think that to be the case here, and many of the recruits we are after. Who can get me to the league the quickest.
