I think some still think of the 3-point line like it's the same line/shooting percentages upon inception. The defense is better plus you have the whole IT'S 3FT FURTHER!! lol... idk. Makes it difficult to discuss.

I still fall into that sometimes myself. Heck 5 years ago, you could almost throw a rock and hit 2 40% 3 pt shooters. They just dont exist anymore. to have 1 is a godsend.

    I think 10 of 37 players were P5 players.

I wouldn't care if his name is Fred Freeps if he can hit 39%-41% from three and take a stance on defense. So far, we're O-for. (Mac doesn't count because he's already here, and he's only 1. We need 3-4 in the rotation IMO)

3 to 4 40% 3 point shooters? I would say most conferences don't even have that.   Lol

Uhhh i hate repeating myself. I have posted the subsequent multiple times here, but when i see the same thing over and over.

It's truly unrealistic to have 3-4 40% 3 pt shooters in rotation when only, I think the number was, 37 players in all of D1 basketball shot the ball at 40% or higher with volume (3 attempts/game or more)

You can't have the B1G FOY, Pac 12 FOY and a 2 time all Pac 12 player and not be a top 20 team, top three in B1G and at least a Sweet 16. Anything less would be a failure. They will easily be one of the three most talented teams in the B1G.

hopefully they dont hit that sophomore slump and hit the Armaan Franklin or even better yet Victor sophomore leap.

I’m not sure. I would like to complete for the Big Ten Title! Make the NCAA tournament as a top 4 or better seed. Here’s my concerns. Our problems last season were 3 point shooting and free throws. The guard We picked up shots 27.5 % from three point line. The center we picked up shoots 49% from free throw line. Has me concerned.

I think this is overblown. Yes we do need those things. But it is not the only things we need/needed. We filled some of the gapping holes from last year. Yes we didnt shoot the three well. Yes our FT % was crap. But we didn't do ANYTHING well enough to make up those deficiencies. Rebounding, getting to the rim, creating shots, defense.

If the defense is better getting 3 more stops a game, Opp % slightly worse, outrebound the Opp by 10/game, get to the rim more you will create more open threes (hopefully increasing %), create fouls (Opp foul trouble). Just those small improvements you're talking what... at least 10 point differential per game?

Well--- the way it's shaping up right now-- the B1G sucks (same as last year). I expect to win the conference. Top 4 seed, like two years ago, but we gotta make the 2nd weekend....

Sooooo... anything less than a 4-5 seed, less than a 13-7 conference record, and NOT making the 2nd weekend would be pretty disappointing.

I would say that this is about where my bar is for Woody to stick around.

Obviously it’s early, but a good topic of discussion. We have a pretty good idea of our main core for next year. (I think it’s safe to assume Carlyle is in that group).

So… What are your expectations for next season? What would be disappointing?

I am going to wait on this one. But i think the national media is setting this one up. I thought I saw something where they said if we end up with Carlyle, it's a top 25 team and B1G title contender.

Last year they had IU at mid pack of the B1G and 30-40 preseason. and I think we have a lot more unknowns this year.... currently speaking.

Maybe it’s because he’s a high volume 3 point shooter and we don’t shoot 3’s at a high volume. He averaged a little over 7 attempts per game. In comparison, our highest volume shooter from 3 was MM; he averaged 4.6 attempts.

Of all the things, i dont think that's it.

Conwell: "I want to shoot 7 threes a game."

Woody: "Nope. You're only allowed 2."

Since no one else has..... Nice get Woody!

(Realistically 1 person has credited Woody, and 1 person credited staff prior to post. Sorry for the confusion)

Yah, I'm aware. I edited my post for you... like I mentioned. Thanks for policing. :)

Leal’s not a high volume shooter, nor is he supposed to be…that’s not his role. Leal should not be playing significant minutes next year. If he is, then we didn’t address the needs like we hoped.

Rolls do change year to year. Leal doesn’t create his own shot, but if you have people who create shots for him, he can be a 5 ish attempt kind of catch and shoot guy

Listening to 107.5 a little awhile ago and they had a guy on that has a radio show down in Kentucky. He was actually the most sensible UK guy O have ever listened to. He said the main reason Drew turned down the job was that his wife didn't think she could handle the circus around UK basketball. This guy also said that UK fans needs to stop being delusional in thinking UK can just pick whatever coach they want.

But fans have nothing to do with anything, or so I have been told.

  11. I maaaaaay get laughed at for this, but I am posting anyway to see how crazy I am…. Maybe desperate.

next coaching cycle I would put bill Murray’s son, Luke, at the top of my list to at least talk to/ do due diligence on. I was watching something last night, and Luke is the maniac behind UConn’s offense. All he does is watch basketball. FIBA, Europe, China, whatever. Anything. Everything. Took what he saw and developed their offense out of it.

or at least make him the highest paid assistant coach x2
