We have 5 sr 3 Jr 5 sho and 3 Fr. For us to make the tournament, we're going to have to be able to play more, than 6 or 7 players, if them younger players are not getting any playing time, and experience, being developed, then what in the heck are they doing, what are they practice players, and this is CMW first year, his first head coach job, on the college level, like I said before, he played for Bob Knight, that doesn't make him Bob Knight, and I love IU basketball just like the rest of us, but we are going to have to rebuild before we do anything, there's not going to be a quick fix , it's going to take some rebuilding and a lot of hard work, and I don't think the transfer portal is not the way, we are not Kentucky, a bunch of one and dones, and they have some of the top freshman in the country and still lose, and the jury is still out on CMW, we will see, but he's still learning to, once again, that's just my opinion and how I fill, let's see how many banners he hangs up, because when it's all said and done, everything falls on the head coach, if we have a real bad year, his first year, we won't be talking about KL, I'm pretty sure of that.

Uhhhh we play 9 guys consistently. TJD, X, Race, P Stew, Kopp, Bates, Geronimo, Durr, RP.  CMW plays young players..... they ones that he thinks can contribute to a win. Geronimo, Bates, Galloway when he wasnt hurt.

you are arguing points that i have never made.

You play to win the game. This team has aspirations to make the tournament, and by all means they more than likely will. This is not a rebuilding year. You play the players that give you the best shot to win, not just because they were once a 5 star recruit and they may transfer.

You didnt answer my questions, because you have insinuated twice now that you think CMW is not a good coach.

Ye I think he would pl and play a lot, if you have as many young players as IU has ,you have to have a coach to develop young talent, that's what the good coaches do, and if you think that, we're going to win, the big ten CMW first year in the big ten, that's just not going to happen, I think this year is a rebuild year and I think it's a must that we develop are young talent, and I love IU basketball, but I'm a realist, you know, I heard a old man say one time, wish in one hand and shit in the other a see which one fills up first. Go big red.

I dont know if you misunderstood what i wrote because i didnt mention anything about winning the bigten. I nor anyone else thinks we are going to win the B1G this year. The obtainable goal would be to make the tournament and see what happens from there.

assuming the bolded statement above means that you dont believe CMW is a good coach?

Tell me who Lander would play over for Michigan? Eli Brooks or DeVante Jones?

If you think this year is a rebuilding year, just wait until next year 😲

One of KL top college teams to play for were, Michigan and Louisville and he ended up at Indiana, if he continues not to get any playing time, and being in CMW dog house, he will be transferring to either one of them two teams, and I'm sure that they will be happy to get him, and I'm sure he wil play, and play a lot so we might want to thank about it CMW, is not Bob Knight, not even close and do we want to see a 5 star PG, a Indiana boy leave and go somewhere else and come back and kick our butt, I'm just saying it's something to think about,it can't all be on the kid some of it has to be on the coach coach, who set there and watch the team self destruct and watch XJ take nothing but terrible shot after terrible shot, and not call a time out to make any kind of adjustment, to be truthful, CMW stood over there looking like a deer in headlights, but it's enough blame to go around, for everyone who got a chance to pl, I just hope that we can put this behind us and regroup and start to play better, we need all hands on deck,I just feel that some of the younger guys on the bench, couldn't play any worse than most of the guys who played the second half, think about some of the younger guys we have over on the bench not playing, who chose to come to Bloomington, it's a lot of talent over there, and the only way that they get better is playing, that's just my opinion

Im not going to lie. i didnt read all of your post.

Simply put CMW doesn't not think Lander gives us the best chance to win today. If Lander wants to move on and find playing time somewhere else, so be it. But i doubt he plays big minutes like you claim at Michigan or Louisville. Michigan has a guard that averages 34.6 minutes, and another that averages 26 minutes.

You cant play someone just purely based on the fact that they are young and could be/probably will be talented. you'd never play Jr's or Sr's and they'd transfer anyway.

We play games to win them today, not tomorrow, unless its rebuilding time. If IU goes on a losing streak and we are out of any kind of post season contention, then you can play for next year by giving younger players time. Until then, you play to win now and CMW doesnt think Lander gives us a better chance to win today.

Two predictions - TJD will score at will and dominate while he yells at the top of his lungs and 💪. We’ll win by 30 and think we’ve righted the ship. 🤷🏻‍♂️

and people will still complain because we didnt win by 32 and think CMW doesnt know what he's doing or how to sub, because everyone is a better coach from their keyboard.

Probably.  If he was a 5* coming in as a freshman and getting no minutes and the coach says i didn't even think about putting KL in.  We would probably be discussing what is KL doing wrong and how bad he must be in practice.

Maybe so. But people need to stop getting all wrapped in the 5*.

I watched the game last night and at no point did i think.... "you know what would fix this... Lander"

You could have inbounded the ball to no one and got the same results that XJ gave the last 5 minutes.

IU was up 8 with 6:30 or so remaining. XJ was out of control. Just running down into the paint and throwing a blind prayer over his head. That’s his fault completely but the staff let him do it over and over and over again.

at that point... who wasnt? TJD did. Race did. P Stew didnt want to shoot. Someone has to try to make something happen. Typically the first thing you do to create is to try to get to the bucket.

  7. CMW is not playing people just to screw with the fanbase.

All guards have something they need to improve upon. Currently XJ give us the best chance to win. after that i dont know.

I am sure Lander knows exactly what he needs to work on to get more minutes. It took Leal 1 game against Nebraska to earn minutes last night.

That’s such a fucking myth it’s incredible. Look at Julius Randle on the Knicks. The only player in NBA history to shoot below 30% from the 3 point line his entire career, then turn it around to shoot above 41% as soon as he had Mike Woodson as an assistant for over a year. Coincidence? Absolutely not. Riddle me how Trayce magically starting shooting better this year??? You think some magic thing just happened? He was “reborn”? People on this board are idiots.

    Classy.

Sounds like you're a wealth of knowledge. What program are you the head coach of?

  11. It's amazing how knowledgeable and clairvoyant some of these people are.

A lot of people hated the Woodson hire. Seems to have turned out well.... so far.

If IU were to go for a splashy hire like a lot of people wanted. It would just be a rent-a-coach for a year like DeBoer.

Some comments I read from the curmudgeons about CTA not being around for much longer. IU couldn't afford to fire Sheridan outright and pay his buyout. What makes you think IU can afford CTA's buyout?

I dont understand where all of these massive expectations are coming from. We had 1 great season, in a season that was really, really weird, and it seemed like everything fell our way. That was an outlier, not a benchmark of success.

This program seems to be on a upwards trajectory under CTA, but we are in a division that contains OSU, Michigan, PSU. Not to mention MSU who seems to be top 25 team for the foreseeable future.

The only issue is both Jennings play LB and we only start 2.

In the era of everyone transferring for immediate playing time, that could be an issue.

Lets hope we get Branden to join the party though.

    Let's go Branden!

Because at some point in your life you're going to have to do that.

In a marriage, at your job, etc.

All walks of life takes commitment at some to be successful. It does not take a "perfect situation" to succeed.

    I get it… theoretically.

But most of these kids get 4 years of their life to play. Why not go somewhere else if it’s a better fit. if you don’t get the raise or promotion you’re looking for, and another company is offering you that, I don’t think anyone should give you grief moving over to a company that can fulfill what you’re looking for.

Looking at stats - only two categories IU was worse in.  Turnovers and Free Throws.

Clean those up and different game.  Got to think now the TO piece is going to be even more of an emphasis.

But also, lander hit 1 and intentionally missed the second and TJD made 2 to send us to overtime.

yes. Obviously, the argument I was making to another poster, there are issues to fix. BUT there are a lot of positives to take away from this.

You said, "you have to take the good with the bad".

No, you don't. If you take the bad (25 turnovers), you're going to be a mediocre team. Purdue doesn't turn the ball over. They play smart basketball. They play unselfish.

We can be really good. I have no doubt. We have the talent to beat anyone. But if we don't fix our biggest Achilles heel, we are going to struggle in some games we gotta win.

I think we are on the same page, but you’re missing my point. We are an unranked team. A lot of people, besides us IU fans, do not hold us in high regards. With that, you will have an Achilles heel (turnovers for us). If we didn’t have an Achilles heel (turnovers) we would be ranked. Probably top 10.

comparing the number 2 team and IU is moot. There is a reason they are number 2 and we remain unranked. Unranked teams tend to have more flaws.
