  1. It’s actually good we have a president that finally cares about sports. My hope is she is going to not only back but push for the increase in football spending.
  2. See @BobSaccamanno post. There is one issue that will fix this, money. If they don’t address NIL, assistant pay, and facilities then everything you are saying is true except they unless they get lucky no coach will succeed at IU. Your cream and crimson glasses statement shows you don’t get where college football is. Your outline would have been great in 1998 but not in the new BIG of 2024.
  3. This is 100 percent correct. This is a huge part of the issue and IU won’t have a chance at anything resembling a decent program if they don’t have the NIL to bring in players or the NIL to keep a player like McCulley or Sorsby once they have a good season. NIL being addressed would be the first thing I would ask as a prospective head coach at IU.
  4. Yeah could totally be a good way to mask an interview also. Would be worth a conversation for sure. I would rather IU do due diligence on this hire as I think it’s at a critical time with the growth of the BIG
  5. Cook also has a location there and flies there routinely.
  6. DeBoer at Fresno St. not a big program but propelled him to Washington and success there. Not saying it would be easy but 4-5 years, really?!
  7. Kansas and Duke wasn’t a 4-5 year process, absolutely no reason with the transfer portal IU can’t do it faster no matter who the coach is, splashy or not. Let’s hold the next staff to higher expectations.
  8. Looking more closely I have only seen the ability to make a deposit for next year where you get free tickets to two of the first home games for $120. But that’s just a deposit, I can’t find season pricing published anywhere yet.
  9. Maybe per game but I suspect this is season tickets. I had not looked at pricing for next season yet but for 8 home games that’s crazy investment. As a long time season ticket holder that sounds crazy if that’s the pricing.
  10. Flashy maybe was not my best word. I think we all want the best coach possible. I me that means a proven P5 coach over Candle. I want substance with the flash, not just the flash of someone unproven.
  11. You’re never gonna change my mind. Time to be bold and flashy, and so not traditional IU football. Maybe it fails but at least it won’t be boring.
  12. Not saying Candle isn’t a good choice, it just won’t get anyone excited including me. Tressel came from Youngstown St. it’s fine to keep pulling names out like you are doing but the point is the tradition IU fan won’t care. Is the Candle hire gonna sell tickets? Nope. And maybe that’s fine for the administration but it’s the same old IU football in my mind. Time to be bold and flashy. Personally that means even ARE over Candle.* *Note: if Candle is hired I hope he kills it and I have to eat crow after crapping all over him now 😂
  13. Urban Meyer went to Utah after the MAC and proved himself. I just don’t want to see IU hire the next Darrell Hazell.
  14. That’s good to know, then maybe not him but I will still stand by my statement otherwise. MAC coach just doesn’t move the needle for me. If it’s him I hope he proves me wrong but it just feels like a classic IU move when they need to not do that. Hell, ignore Wilson the person, that hire worked on the field. He even brought Allen in to fix the D recognizing what he needed to do to win.
  15. That’s a shame as I actually would be ok with his hire. While I prefer a head coach with power 5 experience I think a coach from the DeBoer coaching line would be solid. If not a solid experienced coach then I would prefer a top notch OC over a MAC coach personally.
  16. I would be ok with this, moves the needle for me more than Candle.
  17. Also someone noted on BTB and I agree, don’t forget about Dexter Williams.
  18. Not surprised by this. His family thinks he’s Penix.
  19. I get why people like Candle but just doesn’t move the needle for me. That just doesn’t scream commitment to the program IMO. I would really prefer a power 5 experienced coach. That may be asking too much but even the Washington OC sounds better than Candle to me. Wilson was OC at OU and to me the offense is the most important area right now.
  20. Great post! While not a fan of him off field what you describe on field is exactly what IU needs.
  21. But Lynch did give us the Ann Arbor gum slap. Will never forget that lol
  22. I think they have to have names zeroed in. All these schools are going to hire fast and try and get their man.
