  1. Hoffman is the one that really surprises me on that list. It seems as if he had a 2-3 year stretch where he was on the weekend leaderboard almost every tournament he played.
  2. You can only pick one. Hunter Strickland Mariano Rivera 7.8 billion people worldwide would pick Mariano Rivera. David Bell would pick Hunter Strickland.
  3. Reds did that in the World Series all the way back in 1976.
  4. Electronic Ticketing. Was buying single game Bengals tickets for my son and I using VividSeats. My goodness the process is painful. I would have never made it through without my son. It wasn't that I couldn't figure out how to use the site. It's just so damn painful. And, even though they gave me a confirmation code as I bought the things, I had to go into various emails they sent and do a bunch of additional steps (at least my cheap labor son did). Between the tickets and parking, they sent me NINE different emails regarding my purchase. NINE. And, it's a crock of you know what they don't offer the option for physical tickets. I'm the type of person that always liked to save event tickets.
  5. They should be permanently banned from the stadium unless the dude did something like grope his wife/girlfriend.
  6. The following letter was sent to a bank manager by an 86 year-old woman after her check bounced, and he thought it was so funny that he sent it to the New York Times to publish. Here’s the full letter: “Dear Sir: I am writing to thank you for bouncing my check with which I endeavored to pay my plumber last month. By my calculations, 3 nanoseconds must have elapsed between his presenting the check and the arrival in my account of the funds needed to honor it. I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my entire pension, an arrangement which, I admit, has been in place for only 8 years. You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of opportunity, and also for debiting my account $30 by way of penalty for the inconvenience caused to your bank. My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused me to rethink my errant financial ways. I noticed that whereas I personally answer your telephone calls and letters, — when I try to contact you, I am confronted by the impersonal, overcharging, pre-recorded, faceless entity which your bank has become. From now on, I, like you, choose only to deal with a flesh-and-blood person. My mortgage and loan repayments will therefore and hereafter no longer be automatic, but will arrive at your bank, by check, addressed personally and confidentially to an employee at your bank whom you must nominate. Be aware that it is an OFFENSE under the Postal Act for any other person to open such an envelope. Please find attached an Application Contact which I require your chosen employee to complete. I am sorry it runs to eight pages, but in order that I know as much about him or her as your bank knows about me, there is no alternative. Please note that all copies of his or her medical history must be countersigned by a Notary Public, and the mandatory details of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and liabilities) must be accompanied by documented proof. In due course, at MY convenience, I will issue your employee with a PIN number which he/she must quote in dealings with me. I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but, again, I have modeled it on the number of button presses required of me to access my account balance on your phone bank service. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Let me level the playing field even further. When you call me, press buttons as follows: IMMEDIATELY AFTER DIALING, PRESS THE STAR (*) BUTTON FOR ENGLISH 1. To make an appointment to see me #2. To query a missing payment. #3. To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there. #4 To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping. #5. To transfer the call to my toilet in case I am attending to nature. #6. To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home. #7. To leave a message on my computer, a password to access my computer is required. Password will be communicated to you at a later date to that Authorized Contact mentioned earlier. #8. To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through #9. To make a general complaint or inquiry. The contact will then be put on hold, pending the attention of my automated answering service. #10. This is a second reminder to press* for English. While this may, on occasion, involve a lengthy wait, uplifting music will play for the duration of the call. Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also levy an establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement. May I wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less prosperous New Year? Your Humble Client And remember: Don’t make old people mad. We don’t like being old in the first place, so it doesn’t take much to piss us off.”
  7. Purdue fans would love it to be grouped with UK and UCLA while IU is relegated at a level with Ohio and Ol' Miss. I'm good with that.
  8. Field of Dreams game between Cubs & Reds coming up Thursday night. Will be the highlight of the season for me. Could be hard to match the magic of last year's game, but at least the Reds have Lodolo scheduled to pitch. He and Ashcraft are the only guys resembling a major league pitcher left in the starting rotation. Cubs have Drew Smyly scheduled. Was taking to my son this morning about who he thought would be in next year's game. I pointed out to him that the NL Central and AL Central play each other next season. Would be cool to have a White Sox vs. Reds matchup. That said, they probably want to offer other teams the opportunity. I just hope they give the Midwestern teams the first crack. Los Angeles vs Boston just does not scream 'Iowa cornfield'. I hate to say it, because I hate them, but the Cardinals probably deserve the next shot. Maybe Cards vs. Twins?
  9. Even the Saudis may have a financial limit. Significantly expanding their fields may not be in the budget, especially when to 'destroy' them, you have to get the biggest names. If Charles Howell III is getting $50, what are the Top 10 in the rankings worth? The offered Tiger $800 million. If Rory, Rahm, JT, Scheffler, Morikawa, etc all expected $500 plus million, it gets expensive fast, even for the Saudis.
  10. Watching Dick Vermeil's HOF induction speech. He's 85 years old, soon to be 86, and looks like he could coach today. I can only hope I'm as spry as he is when I'm 85.
  11. Classic. https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/ex-patriots-ol-rich-ohrnberger-admits-he-intentionally-wrecked-car-as-excuse-for-being-late-to-team-meeting/
  12. I'm seeing and hearing a lot of experts emphatically say that they prefer the #1 pick this year more than usual. Part of it is that they consider Taylor to be as sure a thing as there can be for the top pick. But, also, they seem to think the 2nd/3rd round wheel has more value this year than ever before. It will be very interesting to see if drafts play out the way they think. Personally, I just hope I avoid the middle picks (5-9) like I had last year in both HSN leagues.
  13. The will probably win, only because courts these days tend to side against 'the establishment'.
  14. From my perspective, nothing is 'wrong' here. It's a great board full of people I enjoy discussing things with. Personally, I hope HSN never changes from what is is today and always been here. That 's why I am here and not somewhere else.
  15. Jaguars looking just as hapless as ever during this Hall of Fame game.
  16. Then they should not compare their compensation to MLB, NBA, and NFL players who are employees. A MLB player cant play for the Yankees one week and then go play in Japan the next.
  17. C'mon Rico. The Reds could still go 58-0 the remainder of the season to get to 100 wins.
  18. Things were wonky even before Penix went down.
  19. Gary Allan is hands down my favorite Country act.
  20. I honestly cant recall a program that lost momentum as quickly as we did from '20 to '21. Makes me wonder if the success '20 wasn't just a by-product of the chaos caused by Covid.
  21. Yeah, but I don't have a 'Stetson'. I've never remarried someone i divorced.
  22. Something fishy going on there.
