  1. 4 weeks until draft day. Still need @KoB2011and @iuthruandthruto join their respective leagues. And, a few guys need to update their team name to match their screen name. Several of you had inquired about a dynasty league. I'll be happy to join one, but don't want to necessarily organize it, at least not this season. If someone else want to try and get it organized, that's great. Otherwise, we can re-evaluate the level of interest next season. Finally, for the new players this year, we will also use this thread during the season to discuss weekly results, trash talk, etc. I encourage everyone to participate. It adds to the experience. Everyone seems to be a little shy before the draft, as to not give away any draft strategy. But, I'm not. I'll state for the record now that, if I get the #1 pick, I will be drafting Jonathan Taylor (presuming he's healthy)*. Of course, none of us will know if I get the #1 pick until 30 minutes before the draft. *poster has been known to stretch the truth or downright lie when it serves his purpose.
  2. Now, I'm worried about the secondary.
  3. I read most of that thread on Redzone up until mid-day today. I did not see anyone complaining about the return. Most people thought it was an outstanding group of prospects. What many of those believe, and I tend to agree with them, is that Reds ownership will sell off this group of players as well before they reach tenure for free agency. We've seen that song and dance before. The Reds simply won't keep a core group of players for 5-6 straight years like they did in the 70's with teh Big red Machine, or like the Astros are doing now. Hunter Greene will be traded before he reaches free agency. So will Nick Lodolo, Tyler Stephenson, Jonathan India, and every player that comes up through the system and becomes an all-star caliber player.
  4. Behind Rutgers is not good. Ahead of Purdue is. And, Maryland ahead of Iowa and Wisconsin?????
  5. I'm beginning to think the Reds arent going to make the playoffs this season.
  6. Yes, I think the new shift rules will be huge, not only for Schwarber, but for 80% of all left handed hitters.
  7. I love the idea of Stanford joining, and if Cal comes along as Stanford's rival or to keep the California legislature happy, I'm fine with that. On the flip side, I have no appetite for Notre Dame's prima-donna antics.
  8. This us the 4 I've thought/said all along. The most logical approach. If you're going to expand West, do it right. Makes no sense leaving UCLA and USC out there by themselves.
  9. Just a perfect setup for this type of tragedy. Hills, valleys, mountain streams, torrential overnight rain, poorly constructed homes or trailers, and limited escape routes. I have 2 close friends/co-workers who grew up in that part of Kentucky and they still have friends and families there.
  10. Needs to work on the .205 average.
  11. Well, they COULD quit being cheap bastards and re-sign him. Go to Votto and see if he's willing to defer some of his contract, a-la Bobby Bonilla.
  12. I'll take proven results over potential any day of the week.
  13. https://www.newsandtribune.com/indiana/sports/colts-ryan-embraces-role-as-indys-newest-leader/article_ed5b6cd0-0e09-11ed-b2ce-4b82bc94b659.html
  14. So this is what it's like to be a Hoosier basketball fan in the offseason when the fan base is fairly content. Kind of boring if you ask me.
  15. Prepared by a Husker fan, no doubt.
  16. Wonder how many of those will be stateside? If too many are in the U.S. it will hurt participation in some of the international events.
  17. People that barge off an elevator, head buried in their phone, only to realize it's not their floor. Amazing thing, those elevators. They will tell you the floor number before they open the door if you are so inclined to look for it.
  18. I actually teared up on this one.
  19. Starting to hear reports of less accomplished LIV golfers no longer getting invited to participate in events due to capacity restrictions. As more and more players jump, one would have to assume the list of players getting left out in the cold will as well. Does LIV have a contingency for such a circumstance?
  20. He's developed a lot as a player over the last year. Last year's stats would be misleading for where he is at now. Happens to most young players.
  21. If my 'average' first baseman had the following stats, I would be happy. These are Stephenson's 2022 stats projected over 150 games. .319 average .854 OPS 130 OPS plus 18 HR 105 RBI 5.1 WAR
