  1. Behind Rutgers is not good. Ahead of Purdue is. And, Maryland ahead of Iowa and Wisconsin?????
  2. I'm beginning to think the Reds arent going to make the playoffs this season.
  3. Yes, I think the new shift rules will be huge, not only for Schwarber, but for 80% of all left handed hitters.
  4. I love the idea of Stanford joining, and if Cal comes along as Stanford's rival or to keep the California legislature happy, I'm fine with that. On the flip side, I have no appetite for Notre Dame's prima-donna antics.
  5. This us the 4 I've thought/said all along. The most logical approach. If you're going to expand West, do it right. Makes no sense leaving UCLA and USC out there by themselves.
  6. Just a perfect setup for this type of tragedy. Hills, valleys, mountain streams, torrential overnight rain, poorly constructed homes or trailers, and limited escape routes. I have 2 close friends/co-workers who grew up in that part of Kentucky and they still have friends and families there.
  7. Needs to work on the .205 average.
  8. Well, they COULD quit being cheap bastards and re-sign him. Go to Votto and see if he's willing to defer some of his contract, a-la Bobby Bonilla.
  9. I'll take proven results over potential any day of the week.
  10. https://www.newsandtribune.com/indiana/sports/colts-ryan-embraces-role-as-indys-newest-leader/article_ed5b6cd0-0e09-11ed-b2ce-4b82bc94b659.html
  11. So this is what it's like to be a Hoosier basketball fan in the offseason when the fan base is fairly content. Kind of boring if you ask me.
  12. Prepared by a Husker fan, no doubt.
  13. Wonder how many of those will be stateside? If too many are in the U.S. it will hurt participation in some of the international events.
  14. People that barge off an elevator, head buried in their phone, only to realize it's not their floor. Amazing thing, those elevators. They will tell you the floor number before they open the door if you are so inclined to look for it.
  15. I actually teared up on this one.
  16. Starting to hear reports of less accomplished LIV golfers no longer getting invited to participate in events due to capacity restrictions. As more and more players jump, one would have to assume the list of players getting left out in the cold will as well. Does LIV have a contingency for such a circumstance?
  17. He's developed a lot as a player over the last year. Last year's stats would be misleading for where he is at now. Happens to most young players.
  18. If my 'average' first baseman had the following stats, I would be happy. These are Stephenson's 2022 stats projected over 150 games. .319 average .854 OPS 130 OPS plus 18 HR 105 RBI 5.1 WAR
  19. Story I read indicated it was a very treatable form. Let's hope it is and the young man is able to return to the field.
  20. Violence comes in all forms and from all directions. Video included. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/chess-robot-grabs-and-breaks-finger-of-seven-year-old-opponent/ar-AAZUwK8?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=f58567cca10e4421936b6462c3b8d608
  21. Well, if they know that Stephenson is not going to be behind the late, that will give them some incentive to at least look for an adequate MLB catcher. You could likely get a decent one for 5-7 million. As it stands, they didn't do that this year because they assumed they had Stephenson for 140 games. Now that they know that won't happen, they can adjust the strategy going forward.
  22. Put me down for someone that wants to see TySteve play another position in 2023. Natural fit for sharing first base and DH with Votto. I mean a dude capable of consistently hitting .320 belongs in a lineup full time at any position. And. while not a traditional power hitter, he does have good gap power. those doubles are a valuable weapon just as a HR is.
