This is what I'd like to see. The last roster spot could go to someone that can play the 4/5.

    1. Perkins, Walker, Cupps

    2. Conwell, Hickman, Newton

    3. Tucker, Galloway, Leal

    4. Mgbako,

    5. Reneau, Bradshaw

You're leaving a scholly on the table there DC.  :coffee:

I can't agree with the development part since i never watched how he played or was used at Oregon.  I do think he was either misused or mis-motivated at Oregon for sure based on how he played at IU.  Still has room to grow also.  Will be nice to see what 24/7 development at the NBA level will do for him.

I think it's fair to give the IU coaches some credit.  Ware alluded to it in his thank you.  TJD has spoken openly about it as well.

Development can even mean something like getting hom to play harder for the full 40 minutes.  Doesnt have to strictly mean his shooting form or footwork in the post improved (though that could be true as well)

I get it. But it comes off as disrespectful. We don't know exactly what happened. But what has come out shows Mac may have been as much as a victim as anyrhing, and then handled it poorly.

But he was 18, just moved away from home and had what appears to be a pretty truanatic experience occur.  For adults to refer to him by a nickname referencing that episode just makes me a little uneasy.

It's not endearing, it's a cheap jab at a kid many many months after the fact. Just my opinion.

Well shoot.  I was making a list of similar nicknames for you.  Thought it would be fun.

I guess if you're not a fan of MgBako getting called Taco, then you probably wouldn't like it if I referred to you as Burrito, Enchilada, or Taquito.

    Maybe Sauerkraut?

Fife was the smartest basketball mind on the staff at the time. He was pushed out because him and Woodson didn't get along at all and that's putting it mildly. Thad wasn't pushed out. He worked for Dolson and not Woodson.

So, why did Thad step away when he did?  I'm indifferent on Fife, but losing Thad when we did was a red flag about the direction of the program in my mind.

    1. CMW on vacation

    2. 2/3 of the team transfered/hurt/going pro/not good enough to play

    3. Busy contacting every player in portal and following them on Instagram and Myspace.

My perception would be that teams accepting a NIT bid are in a better place than those declining a puck.

Whatever the reason, declining the bid should raise eyebrows, if not a red flag.

  6. 15.  Was able to complete this one fairly easily.  Give me Reds and a couple of statistical/accomplishment categories and it's a fun grid to do.  Only two squares that required any thought was the Angels/Jays and Angels/Twins.

Regarding Lyman Bostock, I vividly remember getting ready to go to school and my mom asking my dad at breakfast, if he had told me yet about the baseball player that had been killed the night before.  It's strange, because, as a baseball crazed 13 year old, I knew who Bostock was, but he played in the American League, and in the pre cable/satellite/streaming days, and being in a NL TV  market, I don't really recall ever seeing him play.  But, mom asking my dad that question, and dad telling me what happened, remains one of my most vivid memories of that time in my life.

We are talking about good coaches who haven't always been squeaky clean. I mean, it's a coach. Not a boy scout leader.

You specifically brought up Calipari and I responded with my thoughts on him.  I don't recall other coaches being directly named in the conversation.

It means that he's a loser who supports a loser program. His moral compass? This isn't the effing boy scouts. It's mens semi professional basketball.

Wanting a winner for a coach and a winning program doesn't mean we want a renegade program.

This idea of a unicorn coach who is a great with x' and o's, has a spotless past, is a good recruiter, plays good defense, and plays a modern offensive and fun up temp offense is just that. A unicorn.

Fans like him are part of the problem.

And, for the record, when you get called out for breaking board rules, I want you to know I had nothing to do with it.  It's not worth my time to make a stink about it.

Are we still talking about Calipari here?  That's how this conversation got started, so I assume we are.  If that's the case, you should probably realize that Coach Cal does not have many of the attributes you just listed.

The holier than thou fanbase we have is the worst. Couple that with our Administration and there is no wonder why Indiana is a laughing stock.

In the grand scheme of life, it's really not that important.  Why on earth would I make exceptions to my moral compass just so a team I root for could be better than it is?

Do I want my kids looking back and thinking...

    • 'Dad was against cheating unless it was IU basketball."  "
    • "Dad believed in working hard to get good grades in school, unless it was an IU basketball player."
    • "Dad wants us to stay away from drugs, but doesn't think IU players should be punished for it'"
    • 'Why did dad talk to us about violence, but turn a blind eye when a IU player sucker punched an opponent or beat up his girlfriend.

If those things meet your definition of 'holier than thou', then I plead guilty and I'm proud of it.

Purdue will have trouble once/if they run into a team that can pressure the ball and make it more difficult to feed the post.  These last two teams were just cannon fodder.  I'm not sure they'll face a team like that.  Not sure UConn can even do that.

UConn will have Final Four experience in their favor.  Whil UConn was celebrating the Championship last season, the Boilers were trying to figure out where FDU's campus is located and how close is it to St. Peter's.

And, if you're anywhere in the Louisville area, you should take those seriously.  The murder rate is totally out of control.

    Louisville homicides.

    - 2018 (80 homicides)

    - 2023 (150 homicides)

    - 15 in March alone of this year (just March, does not include January & February).

I just now realized baseball opens up this week....wow.

Where you been?  In reality, it opened last week when the Dodgers and Padres split a two game series in South Korea.

The most important thing to remember about baseball is to never root for the Cardinals.  0-162 is not even sufficient enough suffering for them.

Yeah...+231 in the foul discrepancy department is just a "statistical anomaly" right?  🙄

In Knight's heyday, that kind of discrepancy happened year after year in IU's favor.  It stands to reason the better teams with the better players will create more foul inducing situations than teams that lesser teams.
