Cubs are 1/2 game behind Nationals for #1 NL Wild Card, and 2 games behind Cards for Central Division title.  Meanwhile the Brewers are the hottest team in the majors at 9-1 over the last 10 even without Yetlich, and they are only 1 game behind the Cubs.  Brewers have the easiest  schedule of the contenders for the remaining NL playoff spots.

The Brewers have 3 more at home vs the Padres, 3 at home with the Bucs, 3 @ the Reds and finish with 3 @ the Rockies. All sub .500 and all out of contention.

The Cubs and Cards have 7 head to head but the Cubs also have 6 vs the Bucks and Reds while the Cards other games are vs the still fighting for the playoffs Nats and (longshot) D-Backs.

I'll take getting in any way the Cubs can, but boy would I like to win the division...

Have to get the division because besides Wild Card game vs Max the Cubs (if they prevail there) would head to LA. Much rather just face the Braves.

The Reds lineup last night looked like one you would see in spring training.  When you have either Barnhart or Casali as your 5th hitter you know you have a weak lineup.  Also since Lorenzen got some starts this experiment has not worked because he has not gotten a hit when he has started in CF.

Scott I have been thinking about the Reds a lot since the season is drawing to a close.  I have also been looking at the numbers.  Aside from their bullpen struggles they suck at offensive production.  Heading into next year they need to fix those two things or they are gonna piss away a good starting rotation.  Aside from Senzel's injury woes,  Winker has shown that he is prone to the bug as well.  I can't help but think the Reds should shop those two around if they have any value.  Right now I am open to anything involving anybody but Gray, Castillo, and Disco.

To me looking at next year if this was out infield I would be happy, Suerez,  Inglesias,  Galvis and Votto.  The OF and catching position has to be upgraded significantly and I don't know how we will get it.  Even Aquino is not guaranteed to be an every day OF and looking at his numbers the last 3 weeks has to make you wonder.

Well I think Aquino deserves the shot to start next year.  I have no idea what the Reds plans are but I would like to see them go after Puig.  And I would be tickled if they went after Bumgarner.

I don't them going after another high price starter with there rotation pretty much set for next year with Castillio, Gray, Bauer, Disco and Mahle.  I liked Puig and how hard he played but would rather see Aquino stay in right and maybe upgrade LF and hope Senzel can play CF and stay healthy.  I see them trying bring in one OF, hopefully catcher and at least two new pitchers for the bullpen.  They also need to find away for Garrett to pitch well for a complete season.  His first three years he has been great early and has faltered as the season went on.

Also looking forward to the Reds I don't think Votto should be at the top of the lineup and needs to be put down to the 6th spot.

Well they could move Aquino to LF and don't forget Senzel plays 2B.

Her is how I hope the lineup looks next year.  Also I think looking back at it we should have tried for the Marlins C Realamuto in the off season.

1) Senzel   CF

2)  Inglesias SS

3) New LF hopefully LH

4) Suarez  3B

5) Aquino RF

6) Votto  1B

7) Glavis  2B

8) Catcher

9) Pitcher

Felipe Vazquez Arrested & Charged In Florida

By Jeff Todd | September 17, 2019 at 11:35am CDT

In a stunning and deeply troubling turn of events, Pirates pitcher Felipe Vazquez has been arrested and charged with a series of crimes in the state of Florida, according to James Santelli of CBS Pittsburgh. Vazquez, a resident of Florida, is in custody after being arrested today in Pennsylvania.

The underlying behavior alleged is exceedingly disturbing. Allegations involve an online relationship with a child, with charges including computer pornography, solicitation, and providing obscene materials to a minor. From other publicly released materials, it appears that other charges relating to the unlawful relationship with a child could also be filed.

Vazquez will be placed on administrative leave by Major League Baseball, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.com (via Twitter). The commissioner’s office has authority to place players on paid administrative leave, in seven-day increments, pursuant to the collectively bargained Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.

That policy also vests broad punitive authority in the MLB commissioner, along with administrative processes to protect the rights of any accused players. It contemplates punishment upon a finding of a violation, without requiring a criminal conviction and regardless of any action or inaction from legal authorities.

Any such suspension that is ultimately issued would be without pay. One of baseball’s best relief pitchers, Vazquez is signed with the Pittsburgh organization through the 2021 season. The club has a pair of team options thereafter.

In terms of criminal process, it is difficult to know how this matter may proceed. If the state is able to move forward with these and/or other charges, Vazquez could reach a plea agreement or face trial. Counts of this severity will come with the possibility of jail time and could also have immigration implications for the Venezuelan citizen.

I get a Cub fan hating the Cardinals but aside from that random Brandon Phillips/Molina brawl, why would a Reds fan have such animosity toward the Cardinals?

It's just something that has built over many years, and now they are almost on the same level with me as UK is in college basketball.  For pro teams, they are worse than even the Patriots.

And, just so you know, despite all the grief I give Purdue, I don't really 'dislike' the Boilers.   I'm more or less indifferent to them unless they are playing IU.  Purdue is not even in my Top 5 of disliked college programs.

Fair enough.

Who are your top 5 disliked college programs? Guessing UK and 4 more.
