  1. This is why I'm frustrated. It seems over the last four years when IU has had these "seperator" games where a win puts you into 4th place and a loss puts you into 8th-10th place (Purdue game) we always lose the game. When we're 7-8 and playing a .500 conference team and the win gives us a tie for 5th place and a loss puts us in 9th, we always lose and look listless while doing it.

  2. I wont say where, but I'm likely getting a job Starting Feb 1 working in QC on the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines. This place is already contracted to produce 2/3rds of the Moderna vaccine. Is building a brand new facility to produce the J&J vaccine. From what I understand, it's a production and distribution issue. We just dont have the facilities to produce a billion+ doses yet.

  7. I’ll be surprised if he gets more money anywhere else. Vic had a chance to be a Indiana Legend and chose to worry about his “brand” instead. Best of luck Vic but you made a mistake in my opinion.

Good for them.

  9. When Symons was at Memphis his yearly salary was $200k

  10. As I'm looking more into Symons, I see that the Liberty safeties coach is going to be the defensive coordinator for Wommack at South Alabama. Not that it really means anything, just kind of an interesting note. The more I look into Symons, the more I think he'd be a grand slam hire. I can't find anything about his salary at Liberty, but you'd think IU would be able to offer a decent raise. Also, if he was in to interview, and he doesn't get it, that must mean whoever we get is extremely qualified.

  13. I think its all of the above. Its the salaries causing so much pressure. Its having to rely on freshmen and sophomores, and the seniors you do rely on were bench players 30 years ago and in today's game their starters. Its the general move away from motion offense at all levels, everyone trying to play dribble-drive and ball screen, etc., etc.

  14. I actually totally agree with you. I will also add that players used to play to their strengths. Try to get shots from where they shot high percentages.

  15. I still haven't ever got this question answered. Why has coaches gone to this style of offense and why do they think this is the most efficient way of playing. To me offense are to stagnant with a lack of player movement and ball movement. To me the most efficient offense was when the team moved the ball by the pass and not the dribble. Like I said I watch a lot of old games and can't understand why that style wouldn't work today. Teams used the whole half court for their offense and scored at all levels. Again I blame analytics some because it is dead wrong that only shooting 3's and layups is the most efficient way to play. When I think being efficient I think of making scoring easier and scoring more points. The thing is that scoring is way down along with shooting. In the older games the only bad shots taken were by choice and not because the shot clock running down. In those older games with the 45 second clock there were never those bad shots at the end of the clock.

  16. Yup, its not just IU. Doesn't mean I like it, but for some reason college basketball has a shooting problem. This is why I dont get the people that say college basketball is better than the NBA. I understand enjoying the pomp and circumstance of college basketball, but how do people enjoy watching guys brick wide open shots and struggle to score 65 points for 40 minutes?
    1 point
  17. Its really a problem across almost all of college basketball. It's not just an IU thing. My big thing is why these guys can't shoot? Not just IU, across college basketball. Maybe the 3pt line moving back a couple years ago? But its bad.

  19. In my opinion, it could be his recruiting abilities, but I’m sure CTA can bend a little bit on 4-2-5

  20. Perfect. We can recruit Memphis even more: Fryfogle, Bedford, Williams, Hewitt, Cam Jones, Bedford, and Campbell.

  21. Symons would be a homerun hire. His defense at Liberty this year was terrific, he's only in his mid 30s, and he reminds me a lot of DeBoer on the other side of the ball. He had really good success at a small school and has worked his way up the ladder quickly by having success at each stop. If we can hire him, I would bet good money he'd eventually be added to Allen's list of coordinators who leave for a head coaching job. He also has experience coaching linebackers at Memphis, so we could probably bring him in without moving the rest of the coaches around.

  22. A few thoughts responding to some of the previous posts... I hear FL leads the country with 10% of its seniors vaccinated. LA is the new hot spot. LA Times estimating 1/3 have already had it. If so, that greatly lessens the amount needed to get vaccinated to reach herd immunity. My understanding is that it is rare for asymptomatic people to pass it on. That is why schools are not much of an issue. If a vaccine increases those #s, it should still cut down the spread. @5fouls linked an article predicting it will end up like the common cold in a few years. And what's the point of kids only to school for 1/2 days or 2 days a week? If Mom sends her kid to school with Covid, others are still going to get it. Around me, healthcare workers are still getting vaccinated. I'm hearing of abuses where family members of healthcare workers are being listed as "working in the office" to get shots. I think after 3-4 weeks of prioritizing healthcare, they need to move the seniors up in line. That might incentivize more of the health care workers to get theirs. I know of a lady in a nursing home in suburban Cook Co that isn't scheduled for her shot until Feb 1. My parents, in their 80s, with health issues, don't anticipate getting theirs for at least another month. To me, that is wrong. More info coming out showing lockdowns don't work and the damage might be 10x worse than the virus itself. A peer reviewed international study https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/eci.13484 showed- "Conclusions While small benefits cannot be excluded, we do not find significant benefits on case growth of more restrictive NPIs. Similar reductions in case growth may be achievable with less restrictive interventions." Yet what are people talking about in LA- more lockdowns. Don't see where closing an outdoor gym- already at limited capacity- is going to help much more.

  23. I could see both. I thought at beginning of season top 2 teams in NFL were Chiefs and Ravens. Ravens now playing like a champion, that means they lose by 20. The Saints have not impressed me down the stretch and I am not betting against Brady

  26. The more I think about this, the more I believe there has to be more to the story. Why haven't we heard about other instances like this throughout the world? My guess is that there may have been something wrong with the way the vaccine was administered. It was the Pfizer vaccine, which has to be temperature controlled. Maybe it was mishandled along the way.

  27. It’s like as an institution IU overcompensated, from all O and little D, CTC, to all D and little O CAM. Lol, I’m exaggerating... but maybe not much. It’s really how we underemphasize the arc and how the shooting is imbalanced right now. Having AF return and immediately take 15 shots for 14 points while guys like Hunter and Leal, both coming on strong coming into the game, get taken mostly out of the offense (Hunter had only 3 shots until late - and that despite that he was 2-3 from deep) really limits our O and once again the team struggled to score. What I see is not players failing to execute but a limited offensive game plan focusing heavily on pushing the ball inside to TJD and not balancing 3-point shooting. Meanwhile PU lights us up from the arc

  28. Well watching Rutgers and UW made me realize we are not the only bad offensive teams. With under 63 to go in the game UW is up 49-44. The Rutgers being a top team is going by the wayside because they are not looking good at all. In this game UW is 5-20 from 3 and Rutgers is 2-15. I know we have not played well but take away Iowa, UM and UI none of the other teams in the league is that good. Rutgers on offense is disjointed and to much one on one play.

  29. I'm on the fence with whether giving extended care patients priority to vaccinations is even the right thing to do. Yes, they are very vulnerable to the disease. But, they are also vulnerable to death from other things as well. It seems a more effective approach would be to vaccinate those that may come into contact with nursing home patients first. In other words, give priority to the health care workers (which we have), but also the children and grandchildren of these patients. If those people get vaccinated, then not only are they not bringing the disease into the facility, but they are also not spreading the disease outside the facility either. I think it speeds up herd immunity.

  34. I think he will. Urban's really come around for me. I despised him at Florida because of the 30+ arrests and everyone just talked Tebow. He was very complimentary of IU during his time at Ohio St and recently....and honestly when he's talking football I learn something from him. He has an owner who is tired of being a laughingstock, tons of picks and cap space and the best pro ready qb to hit the NFL since Andrew Luck. I guess we should define successful but I think successful there would be making the playoffs in 2 years...and consistently from there. Unless Mahomes gets hurt I don't see many taking multiple titles from them over coming years. Colts could have but Luck bailed on his team.

  38. I still think that was a bad loss. We were the better team but anytime you let a game be that close a guy can get hot late and all bets are then off. We shouldn’t have been in that position to give him a chance to carry them across the finish line.

  40. Best D? Completely depends on the coaching system and team. I'm fine with CAM's D -- It's a top 15 D. But we have to adjust better to 4 and 5-out spread offenses, we have to learn how to extend the pack line better.
