  1. Hawkeyes taking it to Sparty in East Lansing... Up 8 4 minutes before the half...
  2. And those kids that mop up the court with a towel... Can them too... Christ, haven't they seen those cool, round Swiffer mops everybody else has?
  3. Hey, I got it right in the first post... Then I read an article on Rutgers recruiting class...
  4. I agree... My point in the whole thing is, what was a good shot for Alford was waaaay more expanded than it was for say Darryl Thomas, or even Keith Smart...So of course he took more shots, but he did it within the flow of RMK's offense... And the end of the NC game, it wasn't drawn up for Alford...they simply ran the offense and Smart had the first good look...
  5. Yeah...remind me who was the best shooter on the 1987 team? And who took the last shot? It was done within the flow of the offense...
  6. We'll simply agree to disagree... Good?
  7. Not at all...Like I said, he's probably spent, and filled with a bit of emotion... This is another example, to me, of the piling on I'm not a fan of...People who want a change are looking for anything to say about him to substantiate their position... Christ sake where the Assistant AD for Basketball Administration sits is a big deal...Think about that... I'm not saying everyone has to rally around him...Be as critical as you want... But I hate to even think what this place is going to be like when it's confirmed he'll be back next year (which, unless he quits, and I don't think for a second Mike Woodson is a quitter, is going to be the case)... We've already lost a couple of long time posters over the constant negativity...And I think we'll lose more... Me? Not going anywhere...Sorry
  8. Which is why you keep it simple...Especially after an emotional loss...
  9. Of course it does...I've heard him say "And that's on me" more times than I can count... I'm not sure what you want to hear at a press conference... I said in my post, your reaction can NEVER be driven by emotion...Which is exactly what drives most of the narrative here in my opinion...
  10. I think most coaches agree that the WORST time to start looking at what went wrong in a loss is right after the game when emotions are still high...Emotional people don't make good decisions, or aren't going to say the right things. A cooling off period helps...it can be addressed the next day. Apparently Mike Woodson has read a leadership book or two... Your second paragraph is right on...No, we don't know, though many assume they do...and you know the old saying about "assume." I went back a few times and looked at the Purdue game at Mackey. Our start on offense was probably one of our best starts of the year...The ball moved well, and we were getting easy buckets. So we can do it, we just don't sustain it...Especially when a good team makes their run. We don't know how to step up and stop it. Experience will teach us that. And I'm not sure what y'all want Woody to say at the press conferences...Again, after a tough loss is probably the worst time for a coach to talk, but he sticks to the program. I mean, what's he supposed to say? He's trying to keep the confidence of his kids up. I'm not a big fan of calling them out in public, but he knows his kids better than I do...I saw Knight do it to Alford because he knew it was going to elicit the response he wanted. You motivate different people different ways... I'm not sure what people think a donor is going to say at this point after we paid Archie Miller $10 million dollars to skedaddle and now Dolson goes back to them for $14 million to buy out Mike Woodson after 2 fairly successful years, and one mediocre (and not quite over) season. I know what I'd tell him. And Dolson isn't going to admit a mistake that really hasn't been born out to be a mistake by anybody but the press, and some overly emotional internet posters... And I appreciate the sentiment... I don't see the ship as burning...We'll have new on the court leadership, and I think Cupps, Mgbako, and Reneau will all step up and assume the mantle...Patience is a virtue
  11. Another pretty easy one today...22...The Milwaukee Brewers\Seattle Pilots connection always works well...And I'd always hoped to slide Mickey Owen in there some day...Always remember the Tommy Heinrich quote after Owens' infamous passed ball in the the 1941 World Series..."That was a tough break for Mickey to get. I bet he feels like a nickel’s worth of dog meat."
  12. However you want to characterize it Scott... He handed Bailey the keys to the offense after Clary got injured, put D'Marco Dunn in the 2 spot and won 3 in a row... So he kept it that way... If you watched their Michigan State game a week or so ago, you could see Clary was clearly unhappy...
  13. Get what? That I don't buy into the false sorrow BS after losing a game? The whole "we caught Mike Woodson smoking cigars and drinking wine after a loss!" Is hilarious to me... What should he be doing? Locking the whole coaching staff in a room and run grainy black and white 8mm film footage of Hank Iba's offensive schemes? Have a midnight practice and run the players til they drop? SMH
  14. Of course it is... Quinn Buckner is a cornerstone of what Bob Knight built, and the greatest on the court leader our team has ever known... I'm not sure who Mark Alter is, but it's a sure thing he's not in the Indiana Basketball Parthenon...
  15. In PSU's last 5, Clary has averaged 8 ppg and 3 apg... The guy Rhodes has replaced him with at PG, Ace Baldwin, (who followed him from VCU and killed us in the first meeting) has averaged 17 ppg and 6 apg... You do the math 🙂
  16. Quinn Buckner versus Mark Alter (whoever the hell that is) 😂😂😂😂😂😂 And what is an "eleite fan"?
  17. Did North Carolina even make the tournament last year? And your Michigan football analogy goes flat by simply looking at Rodriguez' and Hoke's records... Rodriguez got 3 years and was 15-22... Hoke got 4 years and after an 11-2 first year, went 20-18 after that... You can downplay Woody's first 2 years all you want but they weren't anywhere close to being that bad
  18. Mike Woodson has earned respect from people a little bit more "in the know" as not only a basketball coach, but as a man as well... If you don't respect him, that's pretty much on you...
  19. What was the bar when he got here? After not being in the tournament for 6 years, I'd say making it, right? Then improving to a 4 seed the next year... Yeah, he's earned it... I always love the "unmitigated disaster" hyperbole... You want to see real "unmitigated disaster" look at Ann Arbor...If Woody was in his 5th with that record, not to mention the previous 2 mediocre years, then I'd be with you... But it hasn't been that way... And you're just going to have to abide by it...
  20. Maple! The Big Maple! 🍁 😉
  21. Even so, as I said, if Mike Woodson has no basketball IQ, he's fooled a lot of people for a lot of years. I'll drop it as well... I appreciate you and what you bring... I just think that kind of disrespect toward our players and coaches push us more toward Rupp Rafters than what the people who built this forum envisioned...
  22. You're missing the point...ANY coach can have a down season if they don't get their on the court leaders to actually lead... And, yeah, he has earned a chance next year...
  23. X 1000 Brings about the question "did Bob Knight forget how to coach in 1985?" His seniors that year were Uwe Blab and (ironically) Dan Dakich...Steve Alford was his best player, but he was only a sophomore and simply wasn't ready to assume the leadership mantle... And @tdhoosier made a good point...Trey Galloway has been asked to do too much...I've always thought he was a decent defender, but yesterday he was guarding Langborg most of the time, and that didn't work out so well...We can't ask him score, facilitate, defend, and have to shoulder the whole leadership load and expect him to be great at all of them... And I've said this before, but on the court leadership is the biggest flaw in this team, and yeah, that's on Coach Woodson...But it was a mistake born out of trust and loyalty...XJ hasn't been able to lead because of immaturity and injury...Walker and Leal are limited by their skills...So it's fallen to Trey...And I know he's trying... I also believe that Woody expected a bigger sophomore jump from Banks and Gunn...I remember seeing video of CJ working on his shot in the offseason...But even practicing shooting is fun...Put me in mind of an article I read on Miller Kopp last year who focused on his physical limitations playing defense by working all summer on his lateral quickness and studying film...Kopp was one of our better team defenders last year, and came up with some nice efforts (remember at Michigan?)...His off season work, while probably boring, helped his team...It's not talent that's keeping CJ off the floor...
  24. Well, we'll see I guess... Always a chance... I'd definitely like the kids to put something together in the next few games... Better late than never...
