Glad we finally woke up… these guys need to realize we need to play like this all 40 minutes of the game.
-
Whatever we focus we started with has completely left the building

Good lord these commentators are annoying

Questionable substitution decisions thus far

There’s no way that’s a foul on mgbako

Incredibly even production from everyone… Gunn’s effort on D with 4 timely steals and 2 threes gets the vote from me.
-
We need to initiate contact… they’re already in foul trouble. Bring cute with it and trying to finish with finesse ain’t working.

This is the dumbest rule in college basketball

Is it just me or does there seem to be heavy recency bias in the CFP? Ohio State and Georgia each lose one close game at the end of the season to one of the top teams in the country but drop way down in the rankings. Alabamas loss was arguably worse than both of those teams and it happened at home. But they get a pass since it happened 10 weeks ago and not within the past week. Not to mention they’ve struggled against poor teams.

Outside of PU and UK… Duke for sure -
This game will be decided by our perimeter defense, I believe. I expect Maryland to shoot 2-3 times as many threes as us this game. Nothing really new there I suppose… but Maryland loves to shoot the three. Good news for us is they’re worse at shooting them than we are (if you can believe that). So far on the season they’ve made 30 threes on 140 attempts (21.4%). In comparison, we made 15 on 64 attempts (23.4%). They’ve got several capable shooters (Young, Scott, Kaiser). If they’re hitting their shots, it might be hard for us to keep up given we take so few perimeter shots. I still think we come out with a win though.

Our team should watch film of Tennessee defending the screen in the PU game. It was a night and day difference from what we saw against Louisville.

48 free throws lol… new year, same ****
-
That’s true, but part of the reason we do so poorly guarding the 3 is because we over help and leave guys wide open or we have a miscommunication on defending screens (or sometimes a combination of two on one play). I don’t remember having those either of those issues when we went zone last night.

Haven’t seen him shoot outside of games but I would not be surprised. Some people are amazing shooters given the time and space, but can’t seem to put it together at full speed in game. I’ve been thinking about this myself. It’s clear the staff has confidence in his shot and are actively encouraging him to shoot.

Wow they looked pretty dang good for having not practiced it. There were a few times it looked like they were a little confused on where to be but overall very solid. Also, so much for Woody surrounding himself with “yes men” and not listening to others as I’ve seen some people try to claim before.

Went with Walker but I don’t think there really is a correct answer here… lots of good options
-
I’m sure it’s been mentioned several times in the game thread… but credit to coach Woodson for being willing to switch to zone when things were going south. Game changing decision

We shoot ourself in the foot with so many simple mistakes that are easily correctable… not picking up a player in transition, not executing fast breaks, unforced turnovers
-
Definitely an improvement… at least he is trying which is more than what I could’ve said in previous games this season. He just needs to learn to play smart now

That was such a bad first foul by Mackenzie

I missed the whole first half 😔
