Me too. I think Flory has elite athleticism, but still viewed him as a raw pro prospect. Queen looks like an immediate contributor and more polished at this point. Not saying Flory won’t be amazing, but he does remind me a little of HMP.

I said he looked like a bigger HMP and got killed for it. Flory is a developmental type player.

This is a good call out, and to compare more to the MM situation everyone just assumed Kansas with MM similar to everyone assuming Cincinnati here, yet Cincinnati just took a fairly highly ranked 4 star at his position. Not to say they couldn’t take both guys, but that certainly doesn’t scream lock to me.

Don’t forget people thought he was MM when he visited Kansas. 🤦🏻 I think IU has positioned itself well with him.

Chatter on one IU site from one IU poster that Duke is now recruiting Flory as a top priority, and after only a week, may even lead.  Says Duke was his dream school.

"Duke now very much matters in this recruitment."

Just passing on the rumor.  No idea if credible or not.  Maybe someone else here knows more, one way or the other.

I heard Queen is still a real possibility since his contact at Maryland left.

Its going to come down to NIL money.  Duke and IU are the only ones who can offer big time money.  I just don't see Rutgers being able to pony it up.  Even if they lead currently due to his brother going there.  Development to the NBA and NIL are Duke and IU by far.

Rutgers are hoping it won’t come down to NIL. They still think they have enough. I don’t. They have 2 funds. The strongest is the fund for current players. The future one is not near ready from what many are saying. Rutgers fans say it’s a smear/negative recruiting thing.

This just feels like a long way of saying we want a local kid with good measurables to do well. Which I agree with, but we don’t win games with hope and optimism, we win with basketball players and CJ has a long way to go there.

Again, rooting for CJ, but I also hope we aren’t counting on him at this point. I personally trust that the coaches like what they see in Newton and Cupps as backup guards and I do think we will add another guard still.

Hart means more than that. He’s a good addition late in the process. Probably a little underrated. This also helps in keeping good standing with Indiana coaches and recruits. Shows woody does care about local recruits. I was against it until I thought more about it.

I think the transfer portal has eliminated the inability to rebound from losing people to the draft/one and done's. The problem with Calipari and Kentucky is he has never really went to the transfer portal model in balance with pulling the best high school kids with balance.  He rode the one and done train for too long and the transfer portal in conjunction with NIL leveled the playing field and may have even beat him.

He also wont/can’t recruit over his 5*. That I think is hurting him.

Does Texas really care about bringing Oklahoma as a package deal?  Wonder if we even tried.  Either way.  Texas is a big enough haul, if they wanted to bring utep with them you say, welcome to the B1G.

Yes. It was a package deal. That’s why Texas isn’t in the B1G. Remember they have to be worth it. The B1G wants AAU/research too. Utep doesn’t have any of those things. So it’s markets and AAU.

Right.  I've said on here for years.  Grow the balls to go and poach a team from the sec.  Forget Georgia Tech.  Get real Georgia.  Forget Miami, get Florida.   And whey in the world did we let Texas walk?  Counter punch.  Go get A&M while they are still pissed.

Because Oklahoma wasn’t an AAU school. Academics/research matter. Plus Oklahoma is a small market. Just wasn’t a fit. Hindsight might be 20/20 though. Texas would’ve fit nicely. I really doubt the B1G gets any SEC teams. Too much history. The B1G will get its research and market based schools. NC, VA, UNC, GT all make sense. Oregon, Stanford, Washington too.

Florida and Florida St pull viewers in every part of the state…including Miami….the Hurricanes only draw the Miami market primarily. Don’t get me wrong Miami has around 1.5 million viewers on avg but Florida St avgs about a million more. If you want a program to draw viewership between the two it isn’t close…Florida St would draw way more eyes and get in way more recruits homes. I also think it would be more beneficial for Florida St as well. They would be the only Florida team in the B1G and could differentiate themselves from the other two in-state schools and probably would become the favorite to win the new Atlantic Division in the B1G instead of fighting it out with Florida and Georgia and probably Clemson in the SEC. I’d be very happy to add them.

As far as Georgia Tech?? Heck they pull Purdue viewership….same as Virginia. I know there is more than viewership involved but I’d be targeting FSU, VT, NC, Duke in the ACC and Stanford, Washington, and Oregon…then dare ND to not join. Like UCLA and USC I feel NC and Duke are a pair and there is value outside of just football with Duke…besides IU needs a football win somewhere. We need to up the focus across all sports not just football and Duke will help change the play style in Basketball and recruiting nationally. Also I don’t want another Purdue/Wisconsin clone in Virginia in the league selfishly lol.

You don’t need viewers. You just need the B1G network to be moved from premium to standard channels lineup. So you want as many viewers buying cable/streaming services as you can. (See Rutgers/Maryland)They still pay for the subscription and don’t have to watch. That’s why the B1G is winning. They go after markets. Clemson is a big brand in a shit market.

Yep, that doesn't surprise me. I wouldn't want my practices open to the public either. I was in Assembly Hall several times during the Coach Knight years and it was always like that. The doors were always closed with CLOSED PRACTICE on the outside. I always tried to see through the cracks on of the doors. That never lasted long either, because there was always security around all doors and ramps during practice.

Only time kicking people out didn’t go so well.  Kidding aside the Bluebaugh family were always nice.

Probably true, but it sounds like NIL is the biggest motivating factor for him transferring.  If it was only about playing time, he would have stayed at Rutgers.  It will be interesting what kind of NIL package he will command.

Rumor out of Rutgers it was as little as 90k. Not sure if they meant they(RU) was 90k short or it’s just 90k.

Basketball aside for a second, if Love isn't able to meet the academic requirements for Michigan, does it look good for IU if he's able to land here?

Strip away the NIL money, fit, skill, and all of that. Just from a school perspective -- is that something that becomes a blemish, or does it not matter.

Cause when I look at Love's situation with Michigan, I can laugh at the program for not getting him, but I actually respect the school for maintaining a certain academic standard.

I think it’s some credits don’t transfer. They might match up at IU.
