...you know! Way too many terrible stories that these kids live with on a daily basis. Most of them are just. This is the one thing that I have learned from teaching so many years. I don't rush to judge or react to a student if I have better idea of his/her background (at least, what we are allowed to know).

Sorry guys, I know this is board is for portal information, but it does also relate to how kids also can over come these obstacles.

My Mom owned a bus route. Many of those kids who needed attention got it from her. She was great at knowing what type of attention they needed. Most of those kids still call my Mom to this day. Sorry also. Now about these transfer guys. 😉

Couldn’t someone just donate huge money to the Hoosier Hysterics NIL initiative and then just have them set up appearances and then boom problem solved

Pretty sure this is how it is with the Hoosiers for good and any other collective. Charity and appearances are all part of it. The Hoosier collective is one of the first non profit set up. The Hysterics aren’t but they fill a portion the Hoosiers for good doesn’t.

But is he laughing at the notion of him going or not going to certain schools?

I took it negative like “you have no idea what you are talking about”. If I was him I would stay away from those threads. Too close to home. Anyway, I hope he ends up a pro wherever he goes. Hopefully he’s getting solid advice. Seems like a really nice kid.

Don’t remember if I posted this here or another board, but for us older guys, he reminds me of Shawn Kemp in high school. For those who remember, while there was no denying his athleticism, the knock in Kemp in high school was “all he can do is dunk.”  As Mike Woodson would say, “he turned out just fine.”

Game has changed a lot. Kemp was better than Flory at the same point.

The theme the last few months is that Cincinnati made the right plays and moves here. Whether they are right or important, IDK.

Indiana had FOUR Center's on their big board with hopes of getting one of them. That is still VERY much in play. Bidunga was NOT their top-rated Center.

As you know, life goes on. I think Flory is a wonderful, unstoppable HS force. I think in college he's going to have to refine some post moves. Defensively, he's easily ready from day one. But, if he harbors ideas of playing professionally he has quite a bit of learning and work ahead of him. But, unstoppable high school player and he could grow into a damn good college player in time.

Seems like a Hanner type. All the physical tools but very raw. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think he ends up like Hanner. Could be a pick n roll nightmare. I will say Peckenpaughs son in law is active on a Facebook page. He’s kind of an emoji troll. He laughs off anything related to Flory.

I think if it was ran correctly you can still win with it.  Players aren't use to having to guard players moving and cutting. They definitely don't know how to fight through screens for 40 minutes.

Shot clock. It’s hard to run that. The 4 out is motion. Just not the type you remember. Also the NBA can’t use certain defense es against it. Woody runs the right stuff to attract NBA talent. Give it time.

So, would you rather play a style of offense that most NBAteams don’t play? Or would you rather play a style that recruits and portal transfers could learn that they believe will prepare them for the next level?

Which do you think would attract the high level players that we want to build our program with? Which style do you think CMW has spent his entire professional career playing or coaching?

CMW—“ Hi Johnny 5-star. I want you to come to IU and I’ll prepare you for the next level by playing an offense that most NBA teams don’t.”  Not gonna work.

Archie had no film to show a stretch 4. Woody has a ton of film to show now. I know our 4s haven’t been effective but he can show the green light. He lets everyone shoot. They may not make them but dang it he wants them to.

Wow.  Gut punch followed by instant boost for next year.  Maybe a year on the bench he can come back wiser and be a true floor general.

Man, just think if Jalen is like, screw it, college is a blast, the money and life is pretty great.  Take out an injury rider and roll the dice on NPOY next year and jumping into top 5.

Wouldn’t that be nice. Need a few more pieces.

The only thing I really have a complaint is win we just put TJD in the post and just throw it into him and just standing around the perimeter. When we move around TJD and use him in screen and roles our offense looks better

Teams overplay the screen and roll. Some are athletic enough to defend it. That’s when you throw it to the post to draw the double team. When that happens a shooter should be open. Many times they are. This is when we miss a stretch 4. One more shooter would really make this go. Purdue isn’t athletic enough to guard the pick n roll. Those mid range shots are a killer when you drop. Most don’t. It’s more complicated and would take more time to explain but you get the gist.

I just don't like that style of offense because I actually want plays to get our shooters open looks.  I don't want others to have to win their matchup to get open looks for stand still shooters.  I guess I just got used to a certain type of offense that was beautiful to watch. Under RMK we never just put guys in the post and try to pass into them. They got post men looks by moving them and maybe some cross screening to get them into the post.

That’s a set offense. It sucks when you can’t score on the first set. That’s how you stop Purdue. Make them set up under 20 seconds. Limit their possession. That’s why a 4/5 out usually works better. You aren’t limited to one set. I like the offense. Just need that true stretch guy to make it really click. That’s why race always had the green light. Recruits notice those things. No sets. We don’t want to flame out like Purdue. Also, we do run a few sets. Usually out of a time out or dead ball. Why run plays for your third option.? The bread and butter is TJD and getting that action from ball screens.

I don't see the point in bringing him back.  We have no chance to win the NCAA next year.  Why steal minutes from incoming point guard Gabe Cupps next year?  All Cupps has done is led Centerville to the Ohio big school championship 2 years ago, runner up finish last year and the number one ranking prior to the tournament this year.  I've watched him play for 3 years and the kid can flat out ball.

Well woody likely would’ve went after a point guard in the portal. With X(possibly) coming back you can now put effort in a wing and a big. Maybe get a good 4. IU will need better wings and a post that can shoot.

With us losing most of our low post scoring I wonder if Woodson will change the style of our offense. With everything going through the post now I wonder if we go more of a guard oriented offense with more things rin for them.

He wants 4 out. More drive kick stuff would be incorporated. I think IU would definitely shoot more 3s but still would run pick n roll too.
