I completely agree, but I’m worried we’re going to see the Usain Bolt/Michael Phelps effect. They were both huge and brought their sport new audiences. Their sports did a good job of marketing them and nothing else to keep those fans. Everything is marketed as the Caitlin Clark show without any real mention of anyone else.

Oh for sure, as soon as she leave and is drafted, ticket sales will drop alot and Carver will go back to being mostly empty again.  Which does suck, currently women's basketball is top notch entertainment.

Can some of us just accept that others have a different opinion and that's okay?  We all don't need to agree.  This place would be pretty dull.  But if you're still trying to get people to agree with you 85 pages later, consider if perhaps they never will?

But if it makes you happy, keep going, by all means!

I agree to disagree with every agreement i disagree with forthwith!

A ton of IU fans and our fans support this team well but in all fairness. The arena attendance record for a womens game has been broken in every away game for Iowa the past 2 years minus 2 games. thats pretty impressive.

Its very impressive.  Great for womens sports.  And honestly she is a great off the court young women.  Its her on court persona that i really can't stand

I truly hope it is. Contrary to some beliefs, I’m not rooting for failure. Shit, I’m driving two and a half hours on Tuesday night to go to the game. 🥴 Certainly not going to root for a loss.

Agreed, I really do wish it would just all click starting the next game and continue through the rest of the year.  I would like to see us shooting 80% free throws.  Turning the ball over less and both offensive and defensive efficiencies jump in to the top 25 over the next 6 years. (over that span of 6 games, not for the whole season, even god couldn't change these number at this point).  I would love to win out and make a run in the BTT and show we learned something.  Adjusted,  Got better and have something to look forward to for next season.

To be clear, the reason I thought CAM should get another year was the COVID deal, the fact that by all accounts we would have gone to the tournament that year, and that $10 million dollar roadblock...

But I didn't know money was so cheap :)

And saying Dolson isn't going to fire Woody right now has more to do with how that'll look to the donors/trustees, than the money part of it...

Agreed, buyouts do tie the administrations hands.  Money isn't infinite, even for a big school like IU.

I’ll be “shocked” with a win. Just don’t see it. But Woodson knows more than we do, so I’m sure we’re wrong.

You're not wrong.  The man does most likely know more about basketball than the whole of this forum combined.  Does that mean it translate to coaching.  I think the Jury might still be out on that one.

Y'all have short memories...Miller had the "generational player" and finished 12-17 and 7-12 in the Big 10 in his last year...

Agreed, and he should have been fired after year 3 for how terrible he was and for losing the locker room that year.  Not saying that has anything to do with Coach Woodson and what should or should not happen with him.  But there is a difference between a freshman talent and a sr talent,  And Coach Woodson had some impact on that.  Those last 2 years, he was better on the post that he was the previous 2 years so i give credit where it due.

And to me this team hasn't just failed expectations (which may have been to high early on) but they have failed to meet the minimum requirements to be an IU team.  I can handle losing.  It happens.  I can handle missed recruiting due to shooting for the stars and missing.  I cannot handle being out hustled by every team that plays us.  I cannot handle rolling over on our own court and taking double digit beat downs by every team that has a pulse.  I can't handle the lack of Free Throw shooting (come on man, they are free FFS) and i can't handle lack of fundamental BBIQ.  I don't really know shit about basketball.  But i do know diving for loose balls, blocking out, getting a hand in a shooters face, running and getting back on defense are just fundamental pieces that every player should know and do.  The team looks lazy, confused and most recently like they don't really care.

I have no idea if Coach Woodson should be fired, asked to retire or come back for another 5 years.  I don't know if next year will be the same, better or worst.  I do know i am ready for this season to be over with and for some major changes to happen.  I do not like IU basketball, the players, coaches or Administration at this moment.  Nothing about this team makes me proud to be a Hoosier fan.

I know you're ( @IUFLA) a very hardline defender of any of our coaches, and seem to have a special place in your heart specifically for Coach Woodson, so this isn't really posted for you because i know you disagree with my view and thats ok.  Keep fighting the good fight, someone has to.  Have a great weekend.  Enjoy the nice weather all.

Can't remember what happened a few years ago that stuck in my crawl but she hit a game winner or something and instead of celebrating with her teammates she jumped up on the scorers table and was like the douche bag popping bottles and celebrating by themselves with no friends.

She has improved from an optics perspective in that regards.

Her arrogance is why i don't like her.  She is an antagonist and i don't like that in winners.  Marvin Harrison was my favorite great player.  Never talked shit.  Just went out and made you look stupid and then jogged back to the huddle.  If CC was humble and just destroyed you and the just walked off the court head held high, i would be a fan.  I don't like dbags, I don't care if they play for my team or not.  Just me though

Oh.  I was like no way that was at Assembly last night.  Iowa corn feds can eat that crap.

Almost every game at Carver for the woman's is sold out and ticket get really expensive.  As much as i do not like her personally, she is good for women's basketball in general.  There are so many young kids here in iowa that want to play basketball now because of her.  Still don't like her myself.

When: Saturday, February 24th 12:00 PM EST

Where: Bryce Jordan Center, University Park, Pa

    TV: BTN

Our Hoosiers roll into University Park looking to avenge a home loss earlier this month to the Nittany Lions. First year coach Mike Rhoades has PSU at 13-14 overall, and 7-9 in conference play. The Lions are coming off of a thrilling last minute victory over Illinois in their former venue, The Rec Hall.

As we all know, leading scorer Kanye Clary was dismissed from the team last week. Ace Baldwin :) the 6'0 senior transfer that followed Rhodes from VCU now leads the way. Fellow senior transfer (Georgetown) Qudus Wahab mans the 5 spot, while junior transfers Nick Kern (also followed Rhodes from VCU) Zach Hicks (Temple) and D'Marco Dunn (North Carolina) round out the starting 5.

In our last game, Baldwin, Hicks, Dunn, and Wahab all scored in double figures, but 6'4 sophomore Jameel Brown's 14 points off the bench on 4-5 from 3 was the dagger...Senior transfers Puff Johnson (North Carolina), Leo O'Boyle (Lafayette), and 6'10 sophomore Demetrius Lilley also saw minutes in that game. In the last couple of games, Rhodes has also used 6'11 sophomore transfer (Miami) Favour AIre (pronounced Eye Ray), and 6'5 senior transfer (Kansas City) Rayquandis Mitchell, who had a couple of big buckets against Illinois.

Always tough on the road in the Big 10, as Purdue found out against Ohio State. This will be no different. We're going to have to play at our best to be in it. I know right now, our confidence is at a low point, but hopefully we can get off to a good start and compete. Our defense needs to be much better than it was in the first game, and we once again have to win the rebounding battle...Let's get back on the winning track here...

    GO HOOSIERS!

I really do look forward to these posts from you @IUFLA  Informative and helpful.  Keep up the good work.

I get the hesitation but not sure why Pearl should be disqualified because he’s older.

Jim Larranaga-> Took Miami to a F4 last year and an E8 the previous. He’s 74.

Leonard Hamilton-> He’s now 75. 4 years ago had FSU top 2 in the conference and went to a S16. Year before that (Covid year) team was first in conference and had a 26-5 record. Year before that, Sweet 16. Year before that, E8. Doing all of that in his late 60’s/early 70’s.

Brian Dutcher-> National Championship game last year. 3 straight tournament appearances. Covid year they were best team in conference.  64 years old.

    Coach K-> Retired mid 70’s.

    Roy Williams-> Retired early 70’s.

Bill Self (61), Cal (65), Izzo (69), Barnes (69), Pitino (71). These guys are some of the best in the game currently. Only see their names brought up in retirement if they are having bad seasons, which are rare.

Still not convinced? Here’s a study done arguing that the older coaches are more successful than younger coaches in the tournament. Some interesting notes from it:

“The average age of head coaches in the Sweet Sixteen since 2010 is 52.9 years old. That average increases to 54.1 years old in the Elite Eight and 55.6 years old in the Final Four. While the average age of championship game coaches stays fairly flat at 55.3, the average age of championship winners since 2010 jumps to 57.8 years old.”

    https://www.medicareadvantage.com/resources/average-age-of-winning-ncaa-coaches

We also just hired a FB coach who is 62, which seems to bother no one…why? Because we want to win and feel he was the best pick to accomplish that. Apply the same standard.

Do you know what the average tenure of those the coach was for those same areas?  Just wondering if they were all long tenured coaches or not

Well guys, I tried. Sitting on the loveseat instead of the couch seemed to make things worst. Maybe I'll sit on the floor for the next game.

try sitting at a bar, surprisingly, the longer you're there and the more you drink the better things look.

Girls get prettier, life seems easier and basketball doesn't seem to matter much.
