  1. We will make a run before the half and again at the start of the second
  2. MR should have passed that out instead of the 1v3
  3. Good god. Hit an open three please IU
  4. Not the best looking jerseys I have seen
  5. Come now, i started this thread with an honest heart to keep positive posts in here. Please respect that if you don't mind. Plenty of other threads to talk shit about everything.
  6. Yup that is the career night guy right there. I am calling it now. He is going to have at least 22 points with most of those coming in the first half before we lock him down in the second. He will eventually get loose late in the 2nd and drill a dagger of a 3 to break our hears and hopes for an NIT berth. the forum will erupt with so much angst and woe that a demon will be summoned spontaneously from the pits hell to investigate what is causing so much doom and gloom.
  7. Does any college team play straight up man to man defense with no switch or backside help? I don't know enough about college basketball defensive schemes to even research this. I know a little about offensive schemes, but mostly though look and feel of the flow on the floor. Some teams you can see it and its easy and flawless, then there is our offense and it looks stagnant and grindy. Like every shot is always hard and very few times is it just easy and flowing. Could be i also know nothing and that is why i can't identify anything. Thoughts?
  8. Can I ask what makes you think this is going to happen. We haven't had any great years yet. A couple of what I would say are good years compared to the last 8 -10 years, but would be considered mediocre years in our history (even compared to some of the Coach Crean's teams). What would be a great year to you? I would consider an EE or FF run to be a great year. And how long do you wait to get to that Great year. If next year is bad are you willing to wait another year? Or maybe for year 5 or 6 to get a great year? And what do you expect after that? More great years or are you ok with mediocrity for a couple more years to get another great year? All asked in honestly without any agenda. Just trying to understand your thoughts. And btw, i don't really care much anymore if we fire or keep Coach Woodson. Eventually he will retire or be fired and we'll either have enjoyed his tenure here or not. i don't currently get much enjoyment out of this team or style of play and there isn't really any one player who i really enjoy and root for. I liked TJD but i really have to go back to Zeller, Yogi, VO, Sheehey, Watford for a team and players i truly enjoyed rooting for and watching. The Watshot and the missed VO dunk against Michigan are two of my favorite memories of IU basketball. That and the Keith Smart shot to win the National Title in 87.
  9. I don't think it has as much to do with the coaches job security (i am sure it has some impact) and more to the style of play. Guards and Wings are not highlighted in our current offense. I can see why they wouldn't want to play in that style. Also, winning goes along way to making competitive kids want to play for a winning product. Win games and play a style that showcases guards and wings and i could see our recruiting jumping significantly in the future.
  10. thanks, i assumed that but wasn't sure
  11. It's everything. Its not one or the other. You look at this year and evaluate it both thru a single lens and through the overall body of work. Were results an anomaly and can be corrected with adjustments? Are the failings due to systemic issues that have plagued the program from year one? Are you trending in the correct direction? Are you as a coach meeting the expectations you agreed too when you were hired and are you trending toward those goals? What was the timeline set for those goals? You ask questions around recruiting, scholarship usage, talent evaluation, player growth, offensive and defensive systems and how that impacts, well, everything. You scrutinize the metrics year over year and look for trends and how they have been addressed year over year. You have to look at the overall health of the program. Is your Board happy with where the program is trending? Are the boosters happy with the results and direction of the program? And to a lesser extent, how happy is your student body and fanbase. The media is also something the program must take into account. Regardless of what anyone thinks, if the media turns on your program and continues to questions the AD and or coach, it has a negative impact on all aspects of the program, which can impact the university financially . (Not talking about forums or local fan base media. But when game commentators, ESPN, FoxSport etc.. start having negative things to say and questioning the organization openly, then you must look inward at what can be done to change this lens And if at the end of the day, you don't like the answer you have when you weigh everything, then you do what needs done. Whether its been 3 years or 13 years. This is a business. Its about money.
  12. I don't usually/ever pay attention to other schools schedules. Do they also always have these week long breaks between games? Or is that an Indiana Scheduling thing? Or is the schedule set by the NCAA?
  13. I assume the bye out was way to much last year since its still 14mil guaranteed this year. And was hoping for the best which turned out to be almost worst than last year. They will get a good coach. They are first, have the money, a decent roster, and its a job many coaches would love to have.
  14. Looks like OSU wants to get ahead of the coach hiring cycle and will most likely have their pick of the litter
  15. The one thing they need to start call in college basketball again is those freaking push offs to make space. They almost never get called anymore and guards do it all the time. This was criminal
  16. HSN Question (Sorry @IUFLA, using your post, not targeting you specifically) Honest question for you and any others on both extreme sides. Why do you put so much effort into these threads? You're (collective you, not you specific) not changing anyone's opinion. I get what a discussion forum is for and why people come on here to ask questions and discuss IU basketball. But honestly wading through you (again not you specifically but collectively) arguing the same points over and over in every thread has to be exhausting for you (again not you specifically but collectively) as much as it is for everyone else on this board. The total lack of allowed differing opinions on here these days is tiring. So i ask again, why put so much time and effort into arguing the exact same points in every thread? Can we just not respond? Or let a group get something off their chest? Can't we Let the happy be happy and let the miserable wallow together in misery without having to interject our opinions as facts into every conversation that we don't agree with? I know, "Welcome to the Internet". But this forum has been and was different at one time. This is an honest question coming from an honest spot in my heart. I am not singling out any specific person. I am blasé to IU basketball at this moment so not as invested as i once was, and maybe that is why i can't understand one side or the other. Sorry if this comes off the wrong and rubs people the wrong way. Jason
  17. Coach Woodson is not listed here though. I wonder whats up with that https://www.collegetransitions.com/blog/highest-paid-college-basketball-coaches/ Or here https://frontofficesports.com/highest-paid-mens-college-basketball-coaches/ Or here https://fanbuzz.com/college-basketball/highest-paid-college-basketball-coaches/
  18. She would magically stop being able to hit a shot or free throws. I think we go about .4-3 with this schedule. Beat NW, lose to Nebraska, Rebound and put it to PSU away, Lose to Wisc at homee, Win at Maryland and Minnesota, lose to MSU at home to end the season.
  19. I had a wonderful steak dinner for my 50 birthday tonight out with my lady. Ruth's Chris Steakhouse is hands down worth the money. Didn't think about Indiana Basketball once and completely forgot we were playing until i was home and doing something else. Decided to check the score and hit the forums. So very happy i didn't even think about this team today.
