This team is bipolar. i couldn't tell you what they will plat like from game to game. Which is kinda maddening that they are not consistently bad, mediocre or good. This is the hardest thing for me. When they show glimpses of what many expected, but then it quickly disappears. They even do this within games. How many great 5 minute stretches then turn into absolute garbage stretches. I don't know the answer but man, somewhere inside that team is a above average squad. How to get that identity to play 35+ minutes is the question.

What i would like to see our offense do more. Is having our 1-3 moving to rub off screen, cross court cutting. Moving moving moving. Its not hard to defense us if you never have to run through screens or switch on off the bigs/guards. We just pass it in and everyone stands around waiting for a possible kick out. What happened to motion in the offense. TG, Cups, X and Mbako can all be constantly moving to get a pass for an easy bucket.

I think watching MR force his way through double and triple teams (the eye test) is where everyone gets the thought he is a black hole. To become a great player with NBA potential, the court vision needs to come. The IQ of when to force the shot and when to kick it out to a ready shooter on the perimeter or a cutter to the basket. (The rest of the team needs to help here also and be moving, cutting or ready for the kick when MR is doubled or tripled). He also needs to rebound and defend better, but he and Ware are by far our best and most productive offensive weapons. Without either of those 2, i doubt we have more than a couple wins on the season. I give credit where credit is due. I just think people see how special he could be with some adjustments to his game.

I disagree Coach Woodson has earned another year. Will he get it, yes, because it would be a death sentence to this program to eat one of its own, especially after only 3 years. Coach Woodson is here until he retires. Much like coach put all his hopes on XJ leading this team, IU/Dolson did the same with Coach Woodson. We made out bed, now we must lay in it. I have very little faith this program is ever going to be anymore more than a first weekend team on a consistent basis. We have fallen so far from the above mentioned decades, that the bar for success is dang near invisible. And honestly, it doesn't even bother me anymore. Half the time i forget the game is on, the other half i am emotionally unfazed if we win or lose.

Given an unknown coach K, stepping into IU basketball next year(24/25 season) and having these results (his first 4 years). At the end of year 2 we would be talking hot seat and at year 3 we would be having this exact thread about firing him. Some would say he needs 4 years etc.. while others would say he needed to be gone after year 2. He would most likely get a year 4 and we would be debating if it was good enough to get a year 5. Of course Year 5 he goes to and loses in the NC, which could lead to another year or 2 which of course starts he run of S16, E8s, FF and eventually back to back NCs. Of course a known Coach K would have much more leeway if this had been his first 3 years coming from Duke and knowing what he could do. Although i doubt a known Coach K would have these results based on his ability to recruit just by him name alone and the fact he was/is a really good coach. Fun thought experiment.
