It's not a bad offer, it really made me thing, but ultimately I don't think I would do it from the Celtics perspective, nor do I think Ainge would do it. The Celtics don't really need Turner, they already have Horford, Baynes, and Thies, and they drafted a one and done kid in the previous draft who is an athletic big that they like. I think you could debate who the best player in that trade would be between Turner and Brown, but Collison is clearly the worst, so between that and the Celtics not really needing Turner, I don't think they would do it.

With that said, I do think that was an interesting offer. When I thought of Rozier to the Pacers I did think any offer would have to begin with either Turner or Sabonis, but including Sabonis would be crazy for the Pacers.

    No to Sabonis

I said it last summer, but I think Terry Rozier would be a good fit for the Pacers, and certainly an upgrade over Collison. There are rumblings that the Celtics are open to trading him, as he has not handled going back to the bench too well. I just don't know what the Pacers would have to offer? Other good thing about Rozier is that he actually plays better off the ball, so he'd pair well next to Oladipo.

I just don't know what the Pacers would have to offer?

Give you Turner and Collison for Rozier and Brown

  3. To me the Pacers needs to get one more star player in their starting lineup to get to the next level.  I would love to be able to get Kawhi to the Pacers but we all know that will never happen and to me Jimmy Butler is to much of a head case.  Going forward if we have 1B  to VO 1A and Sabonis as our 3rd best player we would be a legitimate contender.  To me it was a big mistake to sign Turner to such a huge deal because he is not a great player and it will be hard to trade his contract.

  4. The Pacers shot way to many 3's last night with VO going 4-14,  Early in the 3rd quarter the Pacers got a 5 or 6 point lead and then they shot like 8 3's in 10 possessions and missed all 8 and that allowed Philly to stay in the game.  To me when the Pacers are playing well it is when they have great ball movement and players are moving.  It seems like VO is trying to do to much on his own and not getting others involved.  To me Philly is not that great of a team and was coming in 0-5 on the road and to lose this game at home is terrible.

That boring pick and roll offense resulted in Sabonis guarding Harden way, way too often. Beautifully executed by Houston all night.

I couldn't care less how effective it is but it is boring to watch.  I am sorry if I enjoy watching player and ball movement how basketball is meant to be played.

  6. Pacers lost this game because of their free throw shooting and those 3 or 4 horrible calls especially the two fouls on VO against Harden.  Houston looks awful and they are so boring to watch with their pick and roll offense and Harden dribbling out the shot clock.  Also they rely on the 3 way to much and you saw that in game 7 of the  conference finals.

Mods slap the basketball historian title on him.

I know it changes but everyone acts like they just invented basketball a couple of years ago and any style of play that is different is some way is not the correct way to play.  Everyone says that shooting 2's is not efficient yet a team that hit 19 3's found a way to lose.

  8. Great game and got home to see the last 3 quarters. Went to see my son at ISU for family day and spent a good day there but had to leave early because my son bought tickets to the Pacer game tonight for him and his girlfriend.  I guess now that he has a girlfriend now that I don't get asked to go to games with him any longer.  We were suppose to go to the ISU game today but at the last minute we decided to just spend time roaming the campus because it was the first time y daughter got up to see her brother at ISU.  sounded like we missed a great football games as well since ISU won in 3pt 51-48.

The West is still better and if you put those East teams in the West they'd clearly do worse.

GS, New Orleans, Denver, Utah, Thunder (they'll certainly be very good when Roberson comes back, easily a top 3-4 D if not better), Spurs are still good - just look at what they've done so far, Portland is supposed to be worse and may be but they're playing very well (and they went into IN's house and won), and hell even Sacto looks pretty good. Houston is absolutely worse, the loss of Ariza in particular coupled with the subtraction by addition, Melo, weakens them, but they haven't been healthy. When they get healthy, they're a playoff team. New Orleans has faltered a bit, but they're very good and Unibrow has been nursing an elbow injury. Denver looks really good and getting better. Utah is tough.

East - C's, Toronto, Bucks, Pacers, Sixers and then a monumental drop off. How many of these teams do well in the West? Next up, who? Pistons, Wiz, Hornets, Miami? Bucks looks very good, Pacers are deeper, Toronto and C's are beasts. But the Sixers are clearly worse, their loss of those 2 guys was big. I'd put both the Bucks and Pacers ahead of them, and I'd bet they'll struggle against West teams.

Pacers also went into SA and spanked them as well.

Anyone else get really annoyed with Myles Turner or am I out of line? I hate how his game is long two's and I think we're much better with Sabonis on the court. yeah, I know it's an edge having both and especially with Sabonis rolling with the second unit but still...

I don't know. I just feel like there's room for discussion here.

Was not a fan of extending his contract because I want to keep Sabonis long term over Turner.  They don't seem to be able to play together so to me they have to choose one or the other and that should be Sabonis.  To me Turner is not a tough enough player around the basket and can't rebound well enough because he can't hold his position.  If it was me in charge I would have tried to trade him this off season but maybe they can do it next off season.

Something just does not seem right with the Pacers and something is missing.  The last few games they are not moving the ball like they did earlier and VO is trying to do to much at times which is hurting the team.  Luckily last night VO picked it up in the 4th to seal the win against a bad Knicks team.

My freshmen year in college I had a game where I went 1-for-10 from 3. Not lie. I was 2-for-12 for the game overall.

My philosophy as a shooter is that the next one will go in and you need to keep shooting.  I never thought when I was open and was able to get my feet set that I was going to miss that shot and that is the mentality a good shooter needs to take.

Yeah at one point in the game pretty much all the starters including Vic had taken like 8 or 9 shots, the game was even, I was about to post that Vic was flirting with a triple double -- he was --  then he just kept shooting and missing. This is another example game of relying too much on Vic or Vic trying to do too much and the game falling apart. When the P's play balanced they're a better team, they have multiple guys now who can score, they have ball movement, that should be their focus.

To me for the Pacers to make the next step they need one more very good player to add to the starting lineup, probably at SF or PG

  13. Pacers really looked bad last night and just could not get their offense going last night.  VO tried to do to much last night and the Pacers did not move the ball like they usually do.  The bench got out scored like 55-15 so the bench did not show last night.  Lillard and McCollum came in averaging over 50 points a game combined and the Pacers held them to around 34 so you would think the Pacers should have won that game.

Mixed thoughts on this record by Klay T --

"CHICAGO -- Golden State Warriors All-Star swingman Klay Thompson set a new NBA record by knocking down 14 3-pointers in Monday night's 149-124 win over the Chicago Bulls.

Thompson went 14-for-24 from beyond the arc and 18-for-29 from the field, racking up 52 points in 27 minutes while raining down shots from all over the floor."

OK, who the heck takes 24 3-point shots in a game? I mean seriously, that's just crazy. Yeah he got a record with 14 3's, but he took freaking 24 of them. If a bunch of guys were taking 24 3's that record would fall pretty quickly. That's just out of control. Then there's the fact this was against a Bulls' team that just doesn't play D, like, at all. At one point the score was something like 95 to 40 something. I don't know, it's a real accomplishment but then, I'm not sure it really is.

I shot 15 in one church league game making 11

He did the same thing I did when the Pacers got Vic...suddenly it's a much more interesting team because the personnel are much more likeable.

I always watched the Pacers even when they won 20 games a year in the early 80s. I just don't really find the rest of the NBA that interesting to watch but that is just my opinion..

Does not sound good.  Pacers may actually regret letting Lance go.

Actually have read where JJ Reddick almost signed with the Pacers but at the last minute resigned with the Sixers.  His shooting coming off the bench would have been great but hopefully Evans can turn it around.

Saw an article that said Tyreke Evans left practice today with an executive from the teams community relations department.
That seems kind of odd. Also heard he was late/missed the flight for the Timberwolves game?

Hopefully nothing real serious but don't like seeing something like this

Agree, and note the balance again -- Vic took 12 shots, but Evans took 14, Young and Sabonis took 9, Turner and Joseph 8, and Bog, Collison, and McDermott 7.

Compare the loss to the T-Wolves: Vic took 23 shots (and went 8 of 23), while closest other players (2) took 13. And they lost by 10.

I'm going back to what I said earlier, balanced scoring/distribution for this season's team is key. When Vic tries to do too much, they can struggle.

Saturday against Brooklyn they had 9 in double figures and last night had 7.  the bench has been great every game except the game against Minnesota and if they can dominate like that then they will have a great season.

Very good and easily in the MVP consideration(yes I know its only 5 games in but still).  Is this is last season under contract?

Side note, Pacers took care of the Spurs which was nice considering their bad game against the Timberwolves, very good ball movement, very good bench play and for the most part very good shot selection.  Sabonis and Tyreke off of the bench is so lethal.  Could either one of these two win the 6th man of the year?

When the Pacers move the ball like they did last night(34 assists) they are a very good team.  When they struggle is when they don't move the ball or have no player movement.
