From a pure fun standpoint, you're right, but a lot of these kids come from some pretty difficult financial backgrounds.  There's a reason the money started flowing in the college game.

Like I said in another thread veteran players in the G-league might not respond well to an 18 year old coming in and making way more than they are.

They've never been a true threat to win it all.  The Shaq/Kobe Lakers team was way better.  They wouldn't have even made the CF that season if they weren't playing in the Least.

The series went 6 games and the Pacers won game 5 by 30 point.  Also the Pacers had 4 in hand and should have won that game after Shaq had fouled out in the 4th.  The Pacers lost that game in OT with Kobe hitting two big shots at the end.

He has already been put up on the block to pull in Jimmy Butler, but T-wolves weren't interested.  If Rockets make any trades, EJ will be involved as a piece of a combo they offer.  I saw on TV yesterday that Butler now wants to go to Philly, but don't see what they have the T-wolves would want.  Fultz would probably be the piece, but I doubt any teams are really interested in him as a primary in a trade at this point.

Just a topic for conversation, what if Butler would be open to Pacers.  Would any fans be into it and who would you be willing to part with?  Would it make Indy better or is Butler a cancer at this point after the way he has handled his trade demand?

Not interested in Butler for the Pacers because I don't want his attitude in that locker room.  The Pacers has good chemistry right now and play well together so we don't need to shake that up right now.

Good solid team as always but also as always never a serious threat to win anything.  Been that way for like 30 years.

The Pacers were in the NBA finals in 2000 so  your 30 years is a little off.  They also have been in like 8 Eastern Conference finals since 1994 which is 24 years so they have been serious contenders.

Pacers first game - balanced shooting and scoring (and minutes)

    Vic 6-11 for 16

    Evans 6-12 for 14

    Sabonis 7-11 for 14

    Bog 7-9 for 19

    McD - 5-9 for 12

    Turner 4-8 for 8

    Young 5-7 for 10

    Joseph 5-7 for 11

    And a 29 point w (over Memphis)

Everyone played well except for Turner and Collison and the bench was great.  I was not really for the long term contract for Turner because I feel like the Pacers will have to choose between Turner and Sabonis at some tine.  To me they can't play together on the court for a long period of time and I would rather have Sabonis as the long term starter at center.

😀Mile , I am pleased with my Dish Network ! With my sports package I get a HUGE number of Fox Sports Channels , The SEC Network , The B10 Network , the Pac 12 Network , The Texas Longhorn network ,the BYU Network to watch BYU games , MESN & MESN 2  ,  STO , etc !

For some reason my Xfinity package has lost the Pac 12 network and ESPN Classic in the last year.

What? How is whether or not G Rob is ready to play this year irrelevant?? Of course it's relevant. If he's ready to play  that's obviously relevant to whether or not McD is an upgrade, as in now. If he's not, and is still not healthy, then that would support it being an upgrade. Why are you so defensive about this? What's the big deal? You're right on the career 3-point percentages, but I was looking at their respective 3-year stints, G Rob with the Pacers, and McD with Chicago. McD is a really good 3-point shooter and probably better, but they're awfully close, and McD is complete garbage on D and really hasn't done squate in the NBA. He could work out really well with the P's, but it's not like that's clear.

Probably defensive just like you are when anyone tries to saying anything negative about PG

Love the way Vic stepped it up and built from his diet to practice routine to his game, turning himself into an all star.

He and the P's snuck up on teams last year -- not taking away anything from what Vic or the P's did, but the question this year, is whether Vic and the P's can continue from where they left off and improve into that top 3-4 position in the East. Very good moves this summer, imo, they are well positioned, but they're not going to surprise anyone this season. Last season they were predicted much lower, this year the teams will be ready on scouting and game planning. Very interested to see how they respond.

I hope the Pacers can build on last year and to me it looks like the roster has been upgraded.  If you look at who left compared to what came in I think they are better.

    Evans over Stephenson

    Holiday over Young

    McDermott over Robinson

    O'Quinn over Jefferson

^^ Yes I was surprised by this. Mavs have been good to him and he's blossomed there. Obviously more going on then we know, and maybe the bench 2-guard role was more of an issue. He should find a home, but yes seems kind of risky.

He was interviewed on a local Indy station yesterday and talked how he was looking forward to staying in Dallas.  he said there was no other place that he would rather be at than Dallas.

^^ You probably are well aware of this but wins and losses mean next to nothing in summer league, it's all about player development and identifying players. Big swings like that during games are common as different players and lineups are moved in and out.

I know that but it is still good if your team does well in the summer league especially how they are doing it this year.

True but you got to think that maybe even this time next year we will be looking for capable point guards because both Collison and Joseph are free agents. And you'd also think that Yogi is better than Sumner, right? I would love to keep Collison, but would be perfectly content swapping out Joseph for Yogi.

Am I alone in thinking Yogi could be our first point off the bench, and run the second unit?

This year Yogi wouldn't be any better than the 3rd point guard because I would take Joseph over Yogi.

Has there been any discussion about Yogi possibly coming to the Pacers? We will be in need of a point guard next year considering all of the expiring contracts. Not saying he would start, but could be serviceable with the second unit IMO. Thoughts? Sorry if this has already been discussed and I missed it.

Already have 3 quality point guards with Collison, Joseph and Holiday and maybe Sumner if is recovered from his injury.

Kind of a mind blank but starting pg? Collision? P’s need a couple pieces. Collison is not the long term solution

PG position is in real good shape with Collison, Joseph and Holiday.  What the Pacers need is a young PF especially if Young opts out and backup wings.

Lance Stephenson team option declined making him a free agent.  I know he has his negatives, but I love watching the guy play.  Disappointed, but I trust Pritchard at this point.

I love this move for the Pacers because Lance has been my least favorite player for any team I have been a fan of.  I can't stand his antics and I think for most part he is an embarrassment to the organization.  He is so inconsistent because he only plays well in front of the home crowd and disappears on the road.  Great day for the Pacers

Maybe they are going after Lebron and they knew he wouldn't come to the Pacers if Lance was on the team LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Trade idea from espn insiders re the P's

Nuggets get: Al Jefferson and No. 23

Pacers get: Kenneth Faried and No. 14

Bobby Marks: Indiana's cost of moving up nine in this trade is taking back Faried's $13.7 million expiring contract. Because of the uncertainty with Thaddeus Young potentially opting out of his salary for 2018-19, the Pacers could accomplish two goals: acquiring a lottery pick to strengthen the depth in their backcourt -- in Lonnie Walker IV or Zhaire Smith -- while also getting a player in Faried who does not impact cap flexibility in 2019-20. For that season, the Pacers will have only Victor Oladipo, Domantas Sabonis and their 2018 first-round pick under contract. Center Myles Turner will be a restricted free agent.

I like that trade if that would happen

Let's get this back on track.  What do we want to see the Pacers do on draft day.  Do we stay put or get aggressive and try to make some moves.  The only name I have seen tossed around is DiVincenzo, who I think could end up being a steal and a Klay Thompson type player potentially.

If we stay at 23 I want  either Brunson or Bates Diop.  At that stage I want a guy with a lot of experience who can come in and be a contributor right away.
