So, you are saying that you enjoyed it in the 80's when pretty much 3 teams dominated?  And I am being kind when I say 3.  It was really 2.  Celtics and the Lakers, but I will throw Philly a bone.

You had Houston, Milwaukee, and some other good teams and it also had to do with the style of the play in the 80's that I enjoyed more.

Got it. So you don't like the NBA because it is "predictable", but don't care that football is. And you also don't like the NBA because the series are too long, but you do like baseball.

It almost just seems like you don't like the NBA despite how often you post about it.

I give or take baseball and really don't watch much of it besides the Reds.  I just don't think the NBA is what it used to be and I use to really love the NBA back in the 80's when I grew up.  I  remember when I was a kid staying up late watching playoff games out West that started around 11:00PM.  I just don't like the NBA of today like I use to and just have a hard time getting into it.

This is generally true in football (NFL and NCAA) as well. I'll go ahead and assume you don't like football.

Nope I like football.  Another thing I like the one and done format over a best of 7 series which to me makes the playoffs to long.

  4. What a shocker the final 4 teams left in the playoffs was what was projected before the season started.  To me this is a problem I have with the NBA is it is to predictable and not much suspense  in the playoffs.  Was there some good games yes, but I just don't get as much enjoyment with no upsets in them.

As an IU fan and a Celtics fan, I love Archie Miller, but man I hope Brad Stevens stays with the Celtics and NBA for the rest of his career. The dude is a magician.

I would rather see Brad in the college game since I like the college game a lot more than the NBA  To me if you really care about just coaching then the college game is where it is at because the NBA is ran by the players.

See above, I don't necessarily disagree. I would look at a number of factors, but just ending up with the best record is a lame way to award COY, but it's usually how it works.

Sometimes it works the other way as well because Phil Jackson rarely won the award and in football Bill Bielcheck doesn't win all the time.

24 minutes and no Hoopster rebuttal? :P

Did I understand right that this year, the reserves could some from either conference without concern for balance beyond the starters?

No each conference players are picked like normal. What is difference is that two captains will pick each team and conference affiliation doesn't matter when picking their teams.

^^ Yes I think the P's were overachieving a bit, but Vic is clearly their engine now and they need him back in a big way. Can still make the playoffs with him back and healthy, hope he returns soon. Last word I saw was that he was not practicing yet. Hopefully he's back on the court quickly.

Very disappointed in Myles Turner and the quicker he realizes that he is 7 foot tall the better.  I am tired of seeing him think he is a 7 foot shooting guard.

HH is nicer than I am. If you dont have anything to say on the topic dont say anything at all. This is your MO it seems like on this board and quite frankly feel free to take it some where else if this board doesn't suit you. There are plenty of IU boards out there.

Not trying to be snarky but he complains any time someone bashes PG.  If he knows people are doing this then why bother reading them if he does not like it.  HH is snarky to anyone who does not agree with him on this topic so why to I get ridiculed when I post what I did.

Except that it always devolves into the posts about PG whining to the refs, etc. Not trying to dissuade the dialogue, but the PG bashing has been pretty obvious in this thread, and I'm not interested in participating further in it. Love what Vic is bringing, for himself, realizing his all star potential. Remember when you and me went back and forth on him on the old board, and I was the one saying I thought he would be an all star, whereas you were questioning whether he would ever be any better than he was playing, at the time, on Orlando? For the record, again, Vic is my favorite Hoosier, and I've always thought he had all star potential -- that, however, does not make him on PG's level. He's not there, but the way he's playing now, maybe he will get there at some point.

Then don't because nobody is making you read these post.

  11. After watching the Pacers and Celtics tonight made me appreciate more how good of a coach Brad Stevens is.  This is the first time I really got to see them and besides Irving the Pacers roster is as good as the Celtics. Both teams had starters out with Victor out for the Pacers and Brown and Morris for the Celtics.  There are a lot of players on their roster who played I have never heard of.  Their second unit tonight are not championship caliber players but wit Stevens as coach he has them playing well.

Just stop it Scott, seriously. It's not a love affair,  and I'm not "defending" him, I'm responding to a post that you're ignoring in yet another post to take a jab. If you want to try to say that Victor Oladipo, as an NBA player, is on Paul George's level -- the post I replied to -- then you'd just be demonstrating a lack of knowledge. That comparison is completely false, and if you follow the NBA at all, you'd know that. What I never understand is why you go out of your way to post stuff like this. Whether you like it or  PG is a top 10-15 player in the League -- or for whatever it's worth, you can call him a top 25 player, who cares. No one would say Vic is a top 10-15 player or top 25 player. He is making a statement to include him as a top 50 player, which is fantastic, and maybe he continues to grow his game into that group of elite players, but he has a ways to go. I hope he gets there, your angst notwithstanding.

In your opinion he is and just because you say it I does not mean it is a fact.  I just did not like him as a player and grew tired of his act on and off the court.  I also never said VO is a better player but just a better fit for the team concept that the Pacers are implementing.  I will take going forward the combo of VO and Sabonis over PG.

Here's one thing I know for sure. After watching PG for years compared to this year's Pacers.....I realize how pathetic PG's "superstar" effort was. Night and day and a great breath of fresh air here locally.

This is the most fun I had watching the Pacers in a long time.  Even the teams that went to the ECF a few years ago was not that entertaining to watch.  Like I have said before I lost all respect for PG when he declined to play the 4 for personal reasons and did not do what the team asked of him.  Also his constant whining got to me where I couldn't stand watching him.  He also did not come to play every night and coasted on some nights.

Oh now come on. Vic has started out great -- and again he's my favorite Hoosier of all time -- but no, he's not Paul George, there is literally no one in the NBA who would go anywhere near that statement. You don't just take a few games at the start of one season and compare stats, that's about as skewed and misleading as possible. If you want to compare stats, pull them up for Vic's career and then run the comparison. No where remotely in the same ball park. Vic is doing extremely well, if he keeps it up over the course of the season then fantastic, but don't go pulling early 2017-18 stats and try to make a comparison between him and a recognized superstar.

I have never understood your love affair with Paul George.  it seems like you will defend him to your death while most are on a different side than you when it comes to PG.  He is a very good player but it is not like he is a all time great player where he is one of the best of all time.

    Today's trivia.

When is 36.9 ppg <19.4 ppg

Answer: when it's Vic and Sabonis vs PG.😃

I just know I have not enjoyed watching the Pacers the last few years and this year I really like watching this team.  They actually play great team basketball and share the ball well. Sabonis and Boronovich both really know how to play the game and are very fundamentally sound basketball players.
