  1. Late portal addition Ithiel Horton offers intriguing skillset Indiana basketball needs

To no surprise NIL will be a factor, sources told HoosierIllustrated. But relationships also bring added context to a potential Horton – Indiana basketball match.

Ithiel Horton played at Pitt alongside Indiana point guard Xavier Johnson for two seasons. Horton also played at UCF this season with former Indiana big man Michael Durr.

I agree. Unless someone is a homerun or a 5th year I doubt staff is interested. That last scholly is worth more than gold!

Edit: I’d almost bet that last scholly is being used as a carrot for the 24’s. It’s waiting for you but it won’t wait long!

It’s the last scholly for this year, but not the only available for next year (right?) So not much of a carrot I think. But sure would be nice for someone to announce.

It's a ton of fun to get excited about a recruit and what he "might" bring to the team. But I remember all the hub-bub on Romeo, who turned out to be good, but not great IMO. (true he was hurt, but that doesn't change the fact that he wasn't an all-american, or B1G player of the year.) I also remember all the hoopla on Lander. What a disappointment he was compared to the build up. JHS was the one player who, in my mind, DID live up to the hype. But historically, they have been few and far between.

MM may be a great player at the college level. I sincerely hope he is. But from my view, this thread has all the implications that he is the "perfect fit" for what we need, and we'll be a FF team if he comes (implied, not said). I'm not ready to hop on that band wagon just yet. I'll root like hell for him, but I need to see it on the court first. Just me.

Like IUFLA I've been around a long time. I've seen a fair amount of BB in my time. You guys can get carried away all you want. That's your prerogative.

I never have expectations for any season other than they’re should good or not. Or for any player. Let the season play out. Prognostications are worthless. Like you, I need to see it on court and then base my hopes on what I see. Certainly not getting carried away. If he comes great. If not, will forget who he was. You play with what you got.

The only point I've made the whole time is that people are basing their expectations on a few highlight reels and 247/Rivals ratings. I understand he's got talent, but D1 basketball is filled with talented kids...I hope we get him... I hope he's Dynamite from day 1... But I'm not going to guarantee like you seem to want to...

And assume... Well, you know the saying...

the only thing I’ve seen is excitement over a highly regarded top 10 recruit ( or was )who skills exhibited previously seem to fit a need that IU has. I’ve been following IU basketball for 50+ years and I’ve seen a lot of hyped recruits come to college and disappoint and fail to perform to expectations. There are few guarantees. That said , seen few that did. I don’t count on any player until he arrives and shows it on court. But see no damn harm in the fan base getting excited or carried away even.

  5. Same article

Walker was a three-star recruit in the Class of 2019 and the No. 176 overall player in the class according to the On3 Industry Ranking. He played his final year of prep basketball at Brewster (NH) Academy.  He originally attended Perry Hall H.S. in Baltimore County and won MPSSAA 4A state titles in 2017 and 2018.  He did not take up competitive basketball until he was 15.

Walker committed to Miami over Kansas, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Seton Hall and VCU.

He averaged under 3 points per game last season.

Seems like we can judge him off that.

    from dailyhoosier.com article
For his career Walker has averaged 15 minutes per game and 13.1 points, 6.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks per 40.

Walker is a career 42 percent shooter overall, including 51 percent from two and 21 percent from three.  He shoots 66 percent from the free throw line.

I didnt attack anyone. I named no one. Thanks for attacking me. They arent putting out any info. Cryptic speak from both sides of their mouths. If they said anything it would be great and liked. But they aren't. Great news for the hoosiers coming our way but I cant say, isnt saying shit. I Didnt tell anyone one person to shut up just in general. I would love to tell one person, I'll let you figure that out.

I didn’t see your name mentioned. And I wouldn’t consider him attacking anyone. Just disagreeing with put up or shut up.

We'll see what happens, but the cryptic posts crack me up. Guys want to act like they have info but never say the info. A couple on here do it all the time. I agree, put up or shut up.

Nah, keep them coming. If someone takes them for something more than what they are then that’s on the person taking these too serious.understand what you’re reading.

I thought Knecht was grad transfer?

If you add Knecht... he and XJs scholly you can use.

The odds are someones transferring/not coming back to school... thats 3. I'm not sure I want to add more than 3 TR FR to any roster moving forward. 🤷‍♂️

There are three ‘24 recruits would like to add though. McNeeley, Bidunga, Newell.

Wouldn’t surprise me. I’m guessing he’ll get a solid NIL deal.

Think it’s somewhat of a gamble on his part. If he comes back, is he going to be any hotter than he was this year? Can he put up the same or better stats, sweep the rewards again. Maybe, maybe not. A player of his type I think has to go when  peaking. Either way, personally Don’t care what he decides but interesting decision.
