  1. Throw in DJ White as well. Some forget how could he was and had it not been for the coaching craziness and injuries during his tenure, he could have been an all-timer. I just don't think his name gets brought up enough in threads, so I'm squeezing it in here. Both him and Newton are favorites of mine if you talk last 30 years.
  2. A school like Pitt, Seton Hall, or St. John's would be perfect IMO. I always see him as more of a city school coach. Just has that old Big East feel about him. Pitt would return him home as well. I feel those environments would bring his personality out more. I always felt at IU he was trying to be a CEO instead of the ball coach he is.
  3. I will also remind everyone the team is also doing a lot of work around flexibility with yoga being a consistent piece of their workout regiment. When you go hard 365, injuries are going to occur. My guess is the Cincy scrimmage was more caution than anything. Let the players rest a bit before hitting the season opener.
  4. I've been searching on an off for a soccer jersey for years. Hell, there isn't t-shirts related to soccer outside of those generic Indiana (insert sport or school within IU) t-shirts that you could get at Steve and Barry's back in the day or TIS.
  5. Throw soccer jerseys and gear in that complaint as well. Hell, throw baseball apparel in there. I promise IU adidas soccer jerseys would sell in volume. It doesn't make sense that a traditional soccer apparel company like adidas isn't selling jerseys for arguably the top soccer college soccer program in the country.
  6. You could look at college athletics as a career path in the same way being a doctor is. They could build classes, training, etc. around this, like is already happening and exists. It just take a change in the way people look at athletics associated with college. They really are far more in line, if you really look deep, and they don't have to be the separated arm of a uni. Universities exist to train and make people better prepared for their chosen profession. I never understood why athletic programs were not looked at in the same manner as med school. They really aren't that different.
  7. This. People continue to not understand that the $$$ related to research are far greater than athletics. It just is. This isn't some arbitrary rule. There is a reason why Johns Hopkins is affiliated with the B1G and lacrosse was just the bonus.
  8. On this point, I am pretty sure they have language in their agreement with ESPN that states as long as they bring in "A" brands, this will not dilute the payouts per team and, I believe (going off memory from an article), it will increase the per school amount share. At minimum, I know it wouldn't decrease it, unless that added somebody like Southern Miss for example. This just proves more that they are working in lock step with ESPN in any moves they make, because I would assume ESPN would have to be on board with any selection prior to them pursuing.
  9. I loved Dr. Wiggins and his classes. Some of my favorites while at IU.
  10. Let's not minimize the toll this is taking on all athletes without their full support system there and being a year later than their schedule had built them up to. I would argue Lily King would have been still at her peak last year, but the extra year put her out of her window. The teenage phenom from Alaska wouldn't have even qualified had the Olympics happened last year. Also, I would add Biles has dealt with her brother being at trial for murder along with all of the circus around Larry Nasser. This has not been ideal circumstances by any stretch of the imagination. To some degree, I am glad she did not try to push through knowing she was not mentally there and end up with a catastrophic injury because of it. I would argue the easy decision would have been to push through because it is the Olympics.
  11. They would have been grabbed already had their academics been better. They are just not good in comparison to other state schools and there is just no real major city in WV as well. They have a history in football, but that was back in the coal mining boom of the middle of the last century and have struggled since in building consistency.
  12. I think the Pac-12 is better position right now than many think. If they were smart, they would absorb the rest of the Big 12 into their conference, which will take them to 20 with a wider scope and facelift that they are desperately in need of. This would give them scope from the Pacific to the Midwest (and West Virginia (not sure how that will work for them). Otherwise, I do think we may get alliances with B1G and Pac-12 and ACC and SEC. The unfortunate part for the B1G in competing is our footprint. Most population growth is happening in the footprint of the SEC (Charlotte, Atlanta, Nashville, Austin, Miami, etc). This is why the SEC has become so dominant. They aren't some sort of strategic genius. They just happen to be in warm level climates with cities that are attracting people in droves to their cities.
  13. We aren't going to move out of the NYC market. I know Rutgers is in NJ, but it is the closest thing to a state school for New York outside of Syracuse.
  14. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/big-12-powers-texas-oklahoma-inquire-about-joining-sec-in-potentially-massive-realignment-shakeup/ https://notredame.rivals.com/news/what-acc-commissioner-jim-phillips-said-about-adding-notre-dame-football Looks like this topic needs to be resurrected. Texas and OK to SEC would be huge and would expedite all of the noise coming from NCAA about putting responsibilities back into the conference as well. What is the B1G's move here? Outside of ND, it really seems the only options would be leftovers from the Big 12, maybe OkSU, Iowa State, Kansas, or prying someone away from the ACC or SEC (who may be pissed about these additions). Cincy is always there, but doesn't move the needle in the same way. Time Zones will probably restrict us from pulling from a fragile PAC 10.
  15. Couldn't they just realign each year based on previous years records?
  16. Agree, I want him to stay for the next 20 years and become our Bobby Bowden at FSU or even Alverez at Wisc.
  17. Phinessee is my guy. He has show many flashes over his first three seasons, but he seemed to be in his own head or Archie was. I think with an open offense, he can really excel.
  18. Or he is just getting old and its time to call it a career.
  19. There is one open and opening in Carmel and, I agree, it is pretty darn good, however still partial to Shake Shack and miss Elevation Burger in the Indy area. I believe they are out of Denver. So good and their fries are cooked in olive oil.
  20. Anybody in or around Jeffersonville should check out Torchy's. They are an institution in Austin and their tacos are legit amazing with their breakfast tacos being choice. Been wanting to franchise one of those, since I had them over a decade ago. Finally starting to expand, but no franchising yet. Hoping for one in Indy soon.
  21. Roadhouse always when I come across and it is pretty much on every hour of the day on some channel.
  22. They should keep the NBA in his handle, so recruits with those type of aspirations know where he came from, since apparently no one knows he came from the NBA.
