I’m not sure... In this highlight video, it doesn’t seem like he was playing at the 4 much for Northwestern last year.  Also looks a fair bit smaller than the 6’7 he’s listed at.  Looks like more of a wing/3 to me.

Ironically given our discussion here, Kopp makes Hunter look silly at the 1:55 mark of the video.

What I am saying is he isn’t that and wasn’t used right at NW.  I don’t think he is a 2. I don’t think he is a 3.  I am a big believer in you are who you guard.  I think he is a stretch four at the college level and that is what he should play at.  He was used differently than what I hope he is used here for.  I don’t want him taking the same shots.  I want him taking fast break threes, corner threes and any other jumper.  I don’t want plays specifically ran for him.  I want him to be a complimentary piece when teams react.  Utilization should be different than how he was used there.

Kopp and Hunter’s per 40 numbers were pretty similar last season — seems like we’re hoping that Kopp can regain his form from his sophomore year.  I think they’re basically the same player, but it can’t hurt to add another shooter.

Difference is usage and where he plays. I don’t think Kopp is going to be running around doing what he did at NW. Watch some videos.  Don’t think he will be running around shooting to shoot.  He is more a four than a two or three no matter what people are saying.

Can we make a list of B1G teams starting front court...I think people really need to see what we are up against...at least potentially. Very very few teams play BIG at both positions.

    1 Michigan- Dickinson 7'1 Livers 6'7

2 Illinois-??? who knows but they didn't start two bigs last year

3 Iowa-?? and 6'8 Keegan Murray likely (not a low post threat)

    4 Purdue- Williams  6'10 and Gillis 6'6

    5 OSU-Liddell 6'7 and Justice Sueing 6'7

6 Wisc-??? Wahl 6'9 (Potters and Reuvers are both gone)

7 Rutgers- Omoruyi 6'11 and Harper 6'6 (Johnson is gone)

8 Maryland- ??? not sure they played a guy over 6'7 last year sure they will bring in someone

9 Michigan St-??? Hauser 6'9 (played much smaller last year)

10 Penn St- Herrar 6'9 and ??? (who knows but played smaller)

11 NW- Beran 6'9 Nance 6'10 (but no low post threat)

12 Minn-??? who knows...should we worry

    13 Neb-??? see Minn

So really...how worried should we be to play small ball along side Trayce??

I would say most of the teams played small ball four. Purdue is at their best when they do. Ohio State played two 6’7”. Illinois was a 6’6” kid and Underwoods MO.  It just opens things up for people like Xavier and Lander to probe and allows for TJD to work when you have shooters around.

Holy s*** Batman. You are absolutely correct. That 🛑 .... you got me there. how could I possibly have my own opinion now.
    maybe reread my post. Comprehension?

You are in this old view of basketball.  Unless you get some Dirk type to play the four it is going to be a 6’5” to 6’8” type.  Gonzaga 6’7” at the four, Baylor 6’5” at the four, Illinois 6’6” at the four, Purdue 6’6” at the four, OSU 6’7” at the four...

Tweeners at the four are fine.  It’s a position that needs a shooter more than size.

Definitely dont love it. Dont even know if i like it. I think Hunter could do a better job than what Kopp is offering overall. Seems like a step in the wrong direction, albeit a very very small step. i would have rather seen a starter and not a role player fill the spot if in fact someone is/has to move on. More so an actually big man that can step out. Kopp is a tweener, not quite fits the bill of a 4.

However, in the coaching staff i trust. They havent done anything to this point for me to question.

    TJD is our FIVE.

Understand that? We aren’t getting a starting five.

Four out and one in means what to you? It means your four must be able to shoot. Gonzaga and Baylor started a 6’7” and 6’5” at the four last year.  Just 🛑

I know things are different today but there were a time when a lot of freshman was not expected to contribute right away.  I hope these guys are given a shot to develop and grow as players and are allowed to grow at their own pace.

True.  Most of the 100-150 kids don’t contribute to winning teams until their junior or senior seasons.

This fanbase, me included just wants to win again but we don't want our success to be from anything negative & that is just how Born Hoosiers are wired!!!  I highly doubt a former Hoosier in CMW, would jeopardize such prestige by messing with a potential NCAA problem but I give him the benefit of the doubt with his NBA ties that he can somehow control or contain these infractions.  The Larry Brown connection can only help with high profile recruits regardless if he hires him or not, recruits read and listen and these two NBA ties can only mean BIG BIG things.  Do we want to WIN again?  Not at the cost of cheating but no way CMW will allow that to happen so lets all just get behind this LOCOMOTIVE.

I can only imagine the things that went on even when Knight was coach that the "right way" crowd would be floored by.

I worked detailing cars for a short time at a dealership in Bloomington (mid-late 90s when Knight was still coach). It didn't happen when I was there (summer), but was told by more than one person who worked there a long time that the "car is in the shop for repairs" game was played there.

For those that don't know what that is, basically a player takes his car (any car) to the dealer for "repairs" and is given a loaner to drive while the (non-existent) work is being done. The "repairs" take all semester to get done for some reason...

Fans are dumb as crap. It’s pretty obvious.  It happened with Keady and Knight and on and on and on.

Do you really think what Yasir attempted to do was "gray"?

“This is from Lasko to Fenny,” Schachter said, reading the text to Kaplan. “‘Fenny, I am in Indiana and Coach Ostrom asked me for an update. They are super willing to do what it takes to recruit Silvio. Is that something of interest for us?’”

How could Jabari Smith come to IU even if he wanted since he already signed with Auburn?

Decommit and ask for his release. That is it.  If he gets his release which would look bad if they didn’t he will be able to go to another school without sitting.  He hasn’t started classes there so no issue.
