There was a thread on Peegs about this and it got taken down by one of the mods. Speculation that IU didn’t want it out there but it’s a little late for that.

Not shocking.  Peegs and Rabjohns do IUs bidding.  Always have and always will. They want something out and that is where they go.

    How do you prove this?

TJD played 35mpg in the post season.

Shooting percentages especially their low ones on 2 pt jays. They can’t consistently shoot a three either…..I don’t buy the last 10 game nonsense.  The same logic can be applied to other players and then the next season they shoot the same.  It’s fans trying to get their hopes up.  They both can’t shoot a three.

Then why didn't he beat out RT at the 4?

I think people have every right to question what he was doing with RT at the four.  He isn’t a four right now or at least hasn’t shown it. He is a 5. Kopp is a similar type.  He isn’t a three.  He is a four.

IU with Geronimo was best with him paired with RT and TJD.  IUs worst lineup was arguably its starting one.  Don’t start with that nonsense.

    I guess lol

Maybe twice this year he was a massive problem? @ Iowa and one other. I can't remember the game. Most games, when you factor in TJD getting a break.. he was a NET zero.

Two major problems with Woodson this year:

Subbing - ride your horses.  They got you there so don’t substitute them out.  I think everyone can agree that Race and TJD are our best two bigs.  Neither have proven to be a four in a spread out O.  Play them for what they are good at.

Offense - IU made an amazing run when they made the tourney. What was the cause of the improved O? Moving TJD around and used a screener for Johnson. Problem with St Mary game? We went back to dump down to TJD and watch. No flow. Not utilizing Johnson to his strengths. We don’t have the shooters for that. TJD was at his best during that stretch where he screened and attacked. Spread it out. We need to get away from the dump down and watch stuff especially when you lack shooters.

Well.. tell TJD to stay out of foul trouble/tell the B1G to stop having so many massive individuals/tell the officials to call the game like the rest of the country. JG vs. Kofi and Edey would be great for who?

    The bold is just ridiculous.

Again... TG and RP are healthy. We are 24-11 ish.

It’s not.  He was only close to fouling out three times the entire season. Not that difficult to comprehend that most lineups with Durr was a waste of time. Complete lack of focus especially when you lack outside shooters.  Made IU incredibly easy to guard.

Our talent wasn't good enough to only play 7 or 8. The rotations are massively overblown as a regarding them as a problem.

Race shot 42% from 3 the last 16 games. Needs more volume.

Are you kidding me? You don’t sub out Race and TJD and put in Michael Durr when you don’t have to. He played one good game the entire season. One of those two should always be in the games. That is by far one of the dumbest sub patterns of college basketball last year.

JG has to play quite a bit better to deserve 22+ mins. The rotations stuff is massively overblown. JG spent plenty of time on the court w/starters and didn't really show that much until late in the season.

It’s not overblown.  Rotations were bad last year. It was part of the problem. College is different than pros. You don’t have an 82 season so you can rely on the bench as much. Most good coaches in college don’t do mass subs. One commentator was shocked that one coach did it so often. The joke was he never saw IU play I guess. Saint Marys is a perfect example where they road their starters the first half. We did a massive sub and didn’t have the horses to go against them. You can’t do that when you don’t have the bench. IU didn’t have the bench to compete.

The original post is right on. Additionally that starting lineup was just atrocious. JG did his best when he was a four next to TJD or Race where they drew doubles and he could attack the rim and rebound.

Rotate the three of Race, TJD and JG at the 4 and 5. I also would argue IUs best lineup was only one of Race or TJD not both together. Until one learns to shoot it causes a lot of congestion.

I would argue go with Johnson, Bates, JHS, Galloway and Kopp. Kopp isn’t a three so we need to stop that nonsense but I don’t see that happening and he also happens to be one of our better three point shooters at 36% which is another issue in itself. We have a 38% shooter and 36% shooter returning.  The rest are worse. JHS isn’t known to be a shooter either. Need someone to pick it up or we have the same issue as last year…..

Not much Fife is going to do to hurt IU. Remember... he loves IU from his Twitter post?  We don't gain anything by talking bad about Butler. I think that is beneath us. Or I would assume it is.

It is clearly not beneath IU…look at how they treated him on his exit.

Can I firmly put you into the crowd of fans that want things done "The right way" ? We are Indiana, by god do it the right way. Right?

I mean how many schools have a kid screw up twice and he doesn’t end up transferring or shown the door. It’s comical anymore. This whole off-season has been. If Woodson gets fired, it will all come back to moments like this and others that you will be complaining about later.  It’s fine to call them out for screwing up.  They get paid now, get an education, etc. I am a firm believer in getting a couple strikes but when you continue to show instances of the same thing…when do you cut bait? At some point you need to have a look in the mirror and realize what you are doing isn’t right.

Yep. I read Wish TV's account earlier. Is it dumb? Yes. Reckless? Sure....but again it's not a time to kick a kid to the curb. As I said earlier. You nurture a kid when they do dumb stuff....you don't kick him to the curb.

I'll be fine with whatever Coach Woodson decides but this fan says plenty of extra running. Maybe some extra stuff (if he comes back) but not kicking him off for being dumb.

I think fans are tired of the shit show IU basketball has become. X was part of the NW crew who all have transferred out and he says he has changed, etc. and then does this again. Then you add this to the whole Fife incident, Matta leaving, etc. I just think it’s that and the immaturity he continues to show.

I stayed off when news broke. Here's my two cents. Really a non issue until we know all the facts. Reckless driving could be turning down a one way the wrong way, could be speeding....resisting arrest could be not pulling over for the officer fast enough according to him or her.

This is minor stuff.....unless something else comes out. By the way. Kids make mistakes. You comfort them you don't discard them.

Regarding Matta....good for him. Hope it works out for him. No doubt Coach has a person in mind already for the position.

Both things today are worth about 30 minutes on twitter and here. Statement of the program posts are tiring on little things like this.

90 on walnut, tried to evade police and then pulled over and tried to switch drivers. Stewart in the car as well.  Other passenger who switched with him charged as well. Being reported already.

I never meant for it to seem that I was arguing which job was better. I understand why a coach would prefer NBA over college.

It is perfectly fine to debate whether Woodson gets or understand how college operates. HS coaches expect you at the state finals and get upset if you miss things and send assistants, etc. It’s building relationships with tons and tons and tons of people. People talk especially in this state. Most pro coaches coming to college fail because they can’t figure out all the things they need to do here. They need to understand how to build a team, coach it, deal with the drama, relate to kids, etc. They just have never done it at the NBA level because they don’t have to.

  13. 51 minutes ago, btownqb said:

You don't think any of that occurs in the NBA?

Players who have mental health challenges- not exclusive or even a higher rate, I would doubt, then in the pros

Getting phone calls from disgruntled parents- ok, sure, the NBA doesn't deal with that. But he has coached JR Smith, that trumps any dumbass parent

The NBA has more breaks/vacations, they don’t have to recruit, etc. There are reasons why if an NBA job opened many coaches would take it over college.  It’s just a better life and job in general. NBA coaches have GMs, scouts, etc doing a lot of things for them. In college they are doing all that plus getting kids to sign with you because they like you. NBA is easier for coaches.

So don't come to Indiana because our fan base would destroy him.Makes sense but other fan bases do the same.

I am not fine with destroying kids.  All fans are the same but some resonate more because they’re bigger.  Kid is what he is. He proves everyone wrong good for him.  Basic consensus of people is does he like playing basketball because it seems like he doesn’t.  Schools think that and it’s a reason some have put a hold on his offer.

  15. 19 minutes ago, btownqb said:

And I didn't say we weren't recruiting him. The absolute only thing I said... was I was told they weren't happy with how it was handled on Fife's end.

You're asking me why another person, that I have never met is mad.... think about that.

I honestly don't care. I have watched this kid very little. I've not once offered an opinion on his play, I do not know. He SEEMS to be someone we should recruit though, for sure.

All I am saying is that I don’t buy it. If he is pissed about a school offering another kid over him then I am sure he is pissed that another school offered and didn’t take his commitment.  If that is the case he is heading out of state

    From what I was told...

They weren't happy about the offering of Colvin when they said they weren't offering JRs.

    XB didn't make IU mad.

Then why aren’t they mad a certain school didn’t take his commitment? The coaches are still in communication with him and they watched him at the state finals. This is getting hysterical.

Not going to criticize the staff for being/not being at a high school game. #1 assistant was in attendance. If CMW not being there causes the high school world to turn against him, over one day, that’s really lame

Problem is this is not the first thing he has missed with certain Indiana coaches.

@btownqbif Booker is mad at Fife…then why isn’t he mad at the two staffs who didn’t take his commitment with an offer out there? Booker has motor issues.  Can be extremely talented but there are teams having him as a last option. I don’t think this is anything related to Fife.  More to go with teams are not prioritizing him due to said motor issues.  There are recruiting people telling coaches they would pass on XB.
