Actually Moore started at Illinois St. and followed Tim Jankovich to SMU.

As far as Mangas, I have no idea what his aspirations are for life after basketball.  But all accounts from my Warsaw contacts are that he is a stand up young man.

Yeah, Moore followed Jankovich (assistant) saying he didn’t really care who the head coach was. But he said this about Brown, "He [Brown] showed me the ropes of the game," Moore said. "I thought I knew it, but he slowed my game down and made me think like a point guard and how to be a leader.”

Just bringing up a connection there.

He mentions Nic Moore from Warsaw who has made it playing in Europe. Moore played for Larry Brown at SMU.

Nothing against a finance degree from IWU, but if he played ball at IU and added an MBA, the sky’s the limit

He’s from IWU and was the NAIA Player of the Year who can get buckets. He grew up an IU fan and the speculation is if he were to get an offer he may take it instead of going pro overseas. I don’t think IU has offered him but he is on their radar. This is all 3rd (maybe 4th) hand speculation.

Looking at IWU's stats. This should embarrass most major college players and coaches. As a team, IWU shoots 80% from FT line. Among the six players who started games for them, the worst FT shooter is 79%.

1, 5 & 7: Will stomach the guy as long as alimony checks clear.

2,6 & 9: He better not step in front of my car

#4: Have an active hit contract on him

  5. College basketball is running rampant with excessive transferring and players having unrealistic professional aspirations. Earlier this week, West Virginia men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins had a lot to say about these topics, “You don’t know who is coming and who is staying. It is hard right now to be able to say what your definite roster is because you don’t know. We’ve got four guys that are looking at the draft. You don’t know where that ends up. You don’t know how many slimy creatures that are called agents are slithering around and promising the world and not being able to deliver anything.”

I can confirm this on Calbert. He lived in the back of the Villas would have been his senior year. He and Graham didn't buy cars until the barnstorming tour/draft positions were announced. Calbert bought a white Ford Explorer IIRC and Graham bought a gray SUV as well.

Shoot Sherron hung out with us our senior year. He pulled up to campus in a Ford Tempo.

I'm just adding this in because I don't think for a second Knight had anything illegal going at all. Now Mallory on the other hand? Vaughn Dunbar was my neighbor in the villas....sweet ride is all I'll say.

I should say in accordance with the thread....different times and the game and the way it's played has changed. I have no problem in the world changing with it.

He also said that an alum who was helping with the hiring process was telling college coaches not to go after the job to make it easier to get Woody hired.

May be another way of saying this:

Nevada head coach and former Indiana All-American Steve Alford almost immediately went public saying he was committed to the Wolf Pack and would not pursue the job at his alma mater. Which is good, because Indiana had absolutely no interest in hiring him.

Alford clearly got wind Indiana had no interest in his services so he contacted some friendly media members to let them know he wasn't interested:

It’s called deflection Scott. They will say anything to justify their opinion. They will bring up comparisons that have nothing to do with what is really happening. Same thing that happens in America today...ends justify the means. You lie, cheat, destroy people’s character with assassination attempts...so on and on. In the end if your side wins that is all that matters. People will say everyone does it. They will say the other side is doing it with no proof but well they win so they have to break the rules. It’s easy to make accusations but in this matter we have proof. Everyone knows what the guy is. Now we have a few ways to look at it. One is once a cheat always a cheat. Two he learned his lesson and is reformed. Three he is susceptible to cheat but our staff will keep him in line. Finally he will cheat again but it’s for us and that is all the matters. Where everyone falls is their own choice but nobody needs to try to make anyone else feel bad for how they see it. To each their own. I fall in the 3rd camp...and that doesn’t make me a bad person or a morally superior person. It’s just how I feel. Don’t trust him but trust we will keep him in line. If he goes over it then I won’t have any pity for what happens to this staff. They are playing with fire. Maybe it will work out great. I hope it does. But I’m not going to sit through another probation and rebuild because we want to take short cuts.

The sad thing is, if he’s on the staff and kept in line, no one will be convinced if recruiting improves significantly. Any legit recruiting success this staff has will be tainted with suspicion

  9. Sorry, but this is disqualifying to me. Even to those who argue everyone is doing it, not everyone is on videotape. And, this doesn't sound like a guy acting upon direction of his head coach. It sounds like a guy who's willing to do anything to be a head coach some day. Sounds like the only thing that kept Rosemond from walking out with cash and facing charges was the caliber of his recruits.

Among the other coaches whom Blazer said he, Dawkins and the undercover FBI agent met with in Las Vegas were Yasir Rosemond (Alabama), Anthony Coleman (Arizona State), Amir Abdur-Rahim (Texas A&M and now Kennesaw State's head coach) and Raphael Chillious (UConn).

Blazer testified that Dawkins didn't pay, or set up payments, to those coaches because they "just didn't have any good players at that time."

Dawkins made similar comments to Rosemond: "You're recruiting a kid that needs some s---, you know, we can facilitate." Rosemond replied he would introduce them to his recruits, telling Dawkins, "Whatever you need me to do, I'll do it. I ain't got no dog in the fight. One day be a head coach."

Locke ave. 10 points a game in 3 years at Fla. why is everyone so high on him. What am I missing.

Considered one of the best pure distance shooters in major CBB. Scouting report from Kentucky Sports Radio:

#10 Noah Locke: 6’3″ 203 lbs, Junior Guard

    10.8 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 0.8 apg

SHOOTER!!! NO 3’s!!! 108 of 166 shots have been 3’s. Have to be there to take away the catch-and-shoot 3’s. Be tight on him at all times! Tighten up to him as the ball is dribbled towards you. DO NOT HELP!!! Absolutely no help off of him. Your only job when guarding him is to take away his 3-point attempts. You have to pick him up outside of the 3-point line and be tight. He will shoot them from deep. Really looking to squeeze them off. Chase him off downscreens and get over the flares. Find him in transition. If you get switched on to him you have to get out and take away the 3. If he isn’t dribbling then you aren’t close enough. He is shooting about the same percentage from 3 as from 2. Make him drive it. He will drive it right. Not thinking about passing. Wants to shoot jump shots if he gets inside the 3-point line. Contest the pull-up jumpers. NO 3’s!!!

wow!  14.2ppg and 5.7 apg in the ACC?  yes please.  not a great shooter, but immediate upgrade at PG.  what does this mean for Rob?  some SG?

Yes, second in ACC in assists. Too many TOs. Coming out of HS was described as a Ferrari with no brakes. Not a great shooting %, but 79% FTs, which is always good to see from a primary ball handler

Hey, can you nice weather people just knock it off?  Here's a typical July day in my neighborhood.

Been there done that and paid my dues. Until last year, I lived my first 59 years in the Midwest, including in the snow belt of NE Ohio and the frozen tundra of Iowa. But mostly in central and eastern Indiana. Where I am now, the average high in Dec-Feb is 72, with average lows in the 50s. Plus the sun is out nearly every day. But I advise against anyone else moving here. 😀

I can attest its beautiful. I work downtown Naples but I live in Estero because the housing costs are astronomical...and I bought over a year ago before SW Florida became the hottest real estate market in the country. We have realters mailing us everyday asking us to sell and homes are selling 10-15% over asking price. I was told my house could fetch another 40k over what I bought it for last year (but where would I go??) It's wonderful that we basically haven't had all our freedoms destroyed and been almost entirely open since the pandemic started. Add the sun, the beach, probably more restaurants per capita than anywhere I've ever been and its pretty nice! I just hope all the people moving down here to get away from their high taxes and their govt overreach leave their politics back north with them so we can continue to live in the "paradise" we all came here for. If anyone knows of an IU hangout for game days let me know. I'd love to meet up with fun IU fans....once we are winning again.....for now I choose to watch at home where I can be miserable and complain all I want in peace.

Moved to the Bradenton/Lakewood Ranch area last year and have had the same experience.

More of a general question/comment about transfer portal. Did the NCAA ever think about the ramifications of granting everyone an extra year of eligibility and the chaos that would create? Here's my example. Good friend of mine has a son who plays college football. When they chose the school for him it was because depth chart at TE was 2 seniors meaning his son would wait his turn as a freshman (this year)knowing they would be gone and playing time would be there next year.

Now both seniors are going to return to get Masters and my friends kid will be using his 2nd year of eligibility next year mostly not playing again. They are looking into transferring now. Just curious what people think about extra year for everyone.

As in most cases, no. They don't think, they react.
