National Scene 2021(Not BIG)
Hoosierinbham replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in General Football Discussion
After the first quarter, they were outscored 41-14. That's getting smoked. Something happened, because both teams completely changed how they were playing. With Saban, that can be adjustments. If Georgia looks fantastic in a rematch, I have some other thoughts. -

Easy. ACC is really weak this season. I'm honestly not really that excited about this year's playoff. I think it will be Bama, Michigan, Georgia, and Cinci, in spite of what I would like. But I promise, you are giving Bama and Georgia MUCH more praise than their fans I know are. Both fan bases are very disappointed in their teams. Just trying to make this fun. -

I absolutely can. Their best win is either Kentucky or a very weak Clemson team. Not something to hang your hat on. Then they get smoked in their final game against their only highly ranked opponent this season. Not a good look, and I actually kinda like Georgia and their fans. -

So you agree. Kinda figured you would. Ha! Do I think the committee will? No I do not. -

My wife said the same thing. Her exact words were, "Those aren't freaking basketballs, they're footballs! Throw them!!" -

So assuming Michigan closes it out, who does everyone have in the playoff? I can't put Georgia in when they were just embarrassed by an Alabama team that severely struggled against a bad Auburn team last week. They proved today they can't compete with #2, so how can they claim to be the best? My four: #1 Michigan #2 Alabama #3 Cinci #4 Notre Dame -

Interesting. Apply pressure and Brice falls apart. -

That's the thing; either Georgia was way inflated, or they are laying down. This Bama team isn't that good. Their fans willingly admit that fact, and they NEVER admit anything but vast superiority. -

So Georgia brings no pressure AND lets the only Bama receiver that can hurt you deep run by two db's. Hmmm. -

Agree. When Auburn brought pressure, they dominated Bama's offense. Same thing for Georgia in the first quarter. Brice doesn't handle pressure well. No clue why you would sit back and let him find a wide open receiver. -

If Georgia, Michigan, and Houston win, you could have Georgia/OSU and Michigan/ND in the semifinals. I would laugh watching heads explode if two B1G teams played for the title. -

Hate is probably a bit strong. Really annoyed is better. They have great tradition, teams, and passionate fans. However, the fans can really wear your down. MSU fans act like they should be in the playoffs every year. And when they are a letdown as usual, they scream SEC. Never had a problem until I moved hear 21 years ago. Every time I try to get behind Bama, some d bag runs their mouth. Those people are everywhere, so it's in stereo. I have some great Bama friends, so I'm always happy for them, and being an IU football fan is very non-threatening and good for business! -

Deal! I'll take it. Thanks for throwing the SEC haters a bone. -

Come on man! Not one SEC team?! Give me LSU, UK, or Texas once they join at least. Just having fun with you. -

That would be the easiest route. Make Texas and Oklahoma protected rivals. Still think they'll need to add a conference game. -

Riley definitely wanted a less challenging path. There was some discussion of quads when the announcement was made, but nothing definitive. If they stay with 2 divisions, not only will they need to realign, but they'll also need to add a 9th conference game if they want to protect some rivalries. Not sure they want to take away 1 automatic win from half the conference by adding an additional conference game. -

Coach O didn't "live" in Baton Rouge. He lived in Mandeville in a gated community called the Sanctuary. He and his ex lived two streets from my sister and her family. Baton Rouge is a hot, moist dump. Most of the state is the same. BK will have his primary residence somewhere else. -

I see him having a bright future. It's going be interesting to see what major program eventually gives him a shot, and how it works out for him. -

This is huge, really like what he brings. He was one I was worried about decommmitting with the firing of Sheridan. -

That's one of the disadvantages of not having a conference, and in the case of the SEC ESPN as well, marketing for you. Conferences will promote and protect their product. -

They also don't play the likes of Mercer, New Mexico State, Furman and other absolutely unqualified programs. Not sure Notre Dame has the athletes of the top 3-4 teams, but their schedule definitely holds up. -
Really interested to see how Josh Hoover performs. He seems like one of those gamers that just gets it done and wins.

It is obviously multifactorial, and kudos to he and his agent for getting paid. But he completely rebuilt their staff and roster, strongly utilizing the transfer portal. What ratio of skill/luck remains to be seen. They were ready to be in the bottom 3 in the east instead of one of the power 4. Tip of the cap to him for his rapid success.
