Kopp is a better perimeter defender then JG. I don't want him to be, but JG is poor very poor guarding out there. Sending three dudes to the glass, you are going to give up dunks to the likes of MSU and UNC.

And no, he wouldn't have been better then Kopp at the 3 offensively, he struggles to dribble and pass, and do them both at a quick enough pace. Hence his massive TO rate.

Overly loyal to coaches? Nah. You guys just see these player 3-4hrs a week and think that is what determines PT, and it's just... not.

They wouldn't have been on the court nearly as much if Bates, RP, and TG were there more often.

Geronimo would been much better playing with 1st unit instead of playing with durr. Obviously who you are playing with on the court makes a massive difference in what you are forced to do and what role you play. Put Kopp on the 2nd unit.. yikes

Who JG? Hell no. Kopp is a massively better perimeter defender then them. You aren't sending three dudes to the off glass, regularly in D1 basketball.

    JG is not a 3.

And Kopp is?? What is Kopp a MAC player? He wasn’t good enough at Northwestern.. you absolutely can send 3 guys to the glass. JG wouldn’t be a great 3 because his handles are not great but he sure as heck would been better than Kopp is my point.

you seem overly loyal to the coaches like you were Archie. I agree the injurys to RP and Gallo and Bates going through what he went through hurt.. Woodson has us going in the right direction but isn’t above criticism. Kopp and Stew still should of never seen the floor together as much as they did. The rotations were not great.

why do people think Kopp was a good defender. Dude looked like he was in slow motion all the time. Can barely dunk at 6’7

Would our team? Only people he was taking mins from was RT.

He should of got minutes at the 3 for Kopp… not like Kopp was driving around anybody. He just stood in corner and Kopp wasn’t guarding anyone either… all he did was take up space. Geronimo would of made us way more athletic. And got a ton of boards and put backs over a smaller 3.. Kopp didn’t hVe any turnovers but I wouldn’t have any turnovers either if I stood there lol 32 assist the entire year is pathetic and scoring in doh or figures 3 times in 25 ball games while taking as many minutes as he did is not great

Yeah, I don't agree at all, man. There were about a hundred other factors that made the rotation unique this year. Plus mins is not the end all be all stat.

And Kopp and Stewart not being able to create, really has nothing to do with JG's lack of ability to do so. JG had 9assts and 31TOs this year, while Kopp was 32assts and 31TOs and played double the mins.

I’ll agree to disagree here.. I like Woodson but he isn’t above criticism.. I think Geronimo numbers would of looked a lot different if he was playing with the 1st unit a lot more. Kopp and stew were pretty bad on both ends of the floor the majority of the time. Kopp got in double figures 3 times against power 5 opponents the entire year?? I could stand in the corner and miss catch and shoot 3’s

JG's biggest issue is his lack of ability to do anything off the dribble. Flat out, he struggles massively to take care of the basketball and keep the ball in front of him. Those are two huge issues that were the exact reason he didn't deserve anymore mins then he got.

I really don't know if I have a preference between RT and TJD, but JG has a ways to go to be as good as RT.

I do agree we can rotate those three inside w/confidence. It's just JG needs to be a lot better to do that. The bench or rotation isn't the problem though.

Ya cuz Kopp and Stewert created a lot off the dribble.. I will forever be baffled at the minutes they played together… the +\- was incredibly bad.. could of avoided the play in game if we would of at least split them two up

  6. I also wish Kopp would hit the road and his minutes would go to Leal and Bates but apparently that’s not going to happen. I’ll never understand that. He might get booed off the floor in some games next year. I’ve had about all I can take.
And just to be clear I don’t plan on doing that. But literally every single IU fan I have talked to doesn’t understand why he played.
And again probably a good kid but not a guy IU can and play and get where we want to go.

Agreed.  Race's shot wasn't there for the first 3 years either.  His defense was passible on the block but horrendous outside of 10 feet.  JG has about the same issue and i hope he can get better.  I believe JG is a better overall shooter, rebounder and shot blocker compared to Race.  Race is better body on body defender and 3 point shooter at this point.

I think i would rather keep JG for 3 years and take less impact next year than keeping Race for one more and losing JG for 3.

But i don't know much about basketball.  I live in Iowa you know

Geronimo is already better 3 point shooter than Race

No he isn't, love how our fans talk about our players. He just wasn't out in a good position to succeed.

Leal is better in my opinion and so is Bates. Have you watched the sweet 16? Kopp doesn’t belong on a BIG ten court or in a sweet 16 game. Probably a great kid and student but I will never understand why he played the amount that he did this year… love the nucleus of Galloway, Bates, Xavior, Leal, Geronimo, JHS, and hopefully TJD.
I have confidence if Kopp were to leave we could find a much better player in portal

Well.. I think they got 5 runs from two different errors. Plus they had w wind aided HRs...but yeah. Its been ugly..

Seems like last year we couldn’t hit and now it’s the exact opposite. Did we lose our pitching coach?

I think many are jumping to conclusions. They said it’s a curfew violation. Weed was not mentioned; the only reason it’s part of the conversation is because of a rumor on another board. It was actually reported that this was not drug related. Yet, the thread was completely derailed into this narrative.

I saw the rumor that Romeo was sleeping with Green’s girlfriend was brought up. Green was asked about that on a podcast and he laughed about it because it never happened.

Message boards aren’t typically good about handling rumors.

I have a direct connection with a manager on the team and he said it was curfew/drug related

    well #1 is incredibly false

so... who should start? Rob and TG over Miller and Parker? Why did Rob and TG play so poorly on Sunday? If it's allegedly so evident that Miller and Parker basically shouldn't play (even though last week at this time this entire board wanted nothing to do with the bench) .... why didn't Rob and TG fill it up Sunday?

    Rob and TGs combined #s from Sunday... 41 mins- 2pts, 1-10, 0-6 from 3, 5 assists, 1 reb, and 1 turnover.

    Parker and Miller's combined stats... 37 mins- 14 points, 5-9, 4-7 from 3, 1 assist, 2 turnovers.

    1. Is not incredibly false if you know anything about basketball… Miller and Kopp continue to get beat off dribble all the time… so explain to me then why we are -49 with the starters and plus 87 with the bench…

Clearly you missed the fact that I said “they should never be on floor at same time” Kopp and stew should play we need them to space the floor but you can’t have both in at the same time. Because one will definitely be in a mis match defensively and we will only have one creater on offense in Johnson.

I would probably start Galloway for Kopp… or you could start Rob for Kopp but then you get pretty small.. but for sure can’t have Miller and Stew together on the floor very obvious it’s not going to work.

  12. The fact that we keep starting Kopp and Stew together is hideous.. numbers don’t lie.. last 7 games starting 5 is -49…. I’m completely baffled that Woodson is stubborn on the lineup and continues to let us dig a whole game after game..

you can not  have 2 out 3 guards in the game that

    1. Can’t guard

    2. can’t create a shot for themselves

    3. Can’t create a shot for anyone else.

I’m not saying never play Stew and Kopp but they should absolutely never be on the floor at the same time if we ever want to win at a consistent level. It is way to much to ask the bench game after game to come in and bail us out
