I'm operating on the assumption that marginal tax rates will be higher in the future. I guess we'll find out if I'm an ass or not. Also, I like the feature that roth allows you to withdraw contributions without penalty. Not ideal but it's good to know its available if needed.

Let's be real. Roth accounts are our best option for us younger people. Tax rates in the future are going to be much higher and Roth accounts will save us money. I know its speculation but somebody has to pay for these ridiculous stimulus bills.

Not all debt is bad. Dave Ramsey's debt snowball approach is solid but his investment advice is horrid. At retirement, ideally you would have everything paid off. But if you still have a Mortgage it's not that big of a deal.

I've had a roth account for 10 years now with Schwab. My plan, lol like those ever work out, is to try to retire early and use roth to bridge the gap until eligible for 401k and push SS out as long as possible. Also rolling the dice and assuming my tax burden will be higher in the future. 401k right now is at 10% including company match. Roth probably around 3.5% I want to work up to 15/5%

For the first time in my life a body of water was frozen enough I could walk on water, well frozen water. About 30' from the bank. To the right of my snowball throwing hand someone shoveled out an ice skating area. I told her the snowball was a prop but threw it anyway. I missed, she didnt.

2 more inches last night and another 2 possible today. Enough already!

So signing up for benefits today I have an option for high deductible hsa health plan. I have no experience with it. The thing is the deductible is the same as my old plan. I never really use my insurance and am 35. My thinking is go with the hsa plan and take the $200 a month that I would be saving on premiums and put in an the hsa account. Thoughts?

Record demand for energy has energy companies trying to balance the power grid. And natural gas demand. I think the Jasper thing was precautionary in case energy companies over here follow along.

Awesome, going to be 2 degrees tonight and my auxiliary heat is only blowing lukewarm. Luckily the local grocery store had some 5100 btu space heaters. Works good enough.

My dad was a OTR driver and seeing a couple rigs hung up in the snow reminds me of his favorite song.

Man, I felt like an ice road trucker. It felt like I didn't see anyone for days. At one point, on the other side, was a few semis and about a dozen cars piled up behind a salt truck. But other than that I was pretty much alone.

We dont get snowstorms down here like this. We might end up with 10+ inches when it's over. Indot just quit. They announced they wont resume road cleanup until after 3am and wont put down salt until the snow is plowed. My wife is from central Illinois and thinks its ridiculous that Indiana, at least the southern part where we live cant clear roads.

Here is another one I took on a break. What an exhausting drive home.
