  1. My wife loved it. She never played sports. Her school didnt even have a football team. Great football and family show.
  2. Absolutely. Awesome show. Kevin Costner has had som bombs but can be really great. I think you mentioned it before but just finished binging Friday Night Lights last week. Awesome show. Kyle Chandler is a pretty dang good actor. And Taylor Kitsch. Because of Taylor Kitsch, aka Tim Riggins, I rewatched WACO on Amazon. The second time was better than the first. I remember watching the final assualt on the compound in real time on the news. If you haven't watched it you should. Also, Paramount has produced both Yellowstone and WACO, so, I will be looking for more from them.
  3. Article on covid becoming endemic Kind of a long read but here is a snippet on immunity. Small sample size but something positive. A study published in Science on January 6 tracked the immune response of 188 COVID-19 patients for five to eight months post-infection, and while individuals varied, about 95 percent of patients had measurable levels of immunity.
  4. It kinda does though. My stepdad experimented with biodiesel and hydrogen fuel cells with some success. We worked on it together. He was a high school dropout, got his GED, went on to community college at VU in the 80's for computer technology. Worked in coal mines and is now Senior Electrician at IPL. Best thing he ever did for me was buy me a 155 peice toolset and give me a Chilton manual. Been fixing everything myself since I was 15.
  5. Haha, for sure. Been a awhile so dont remember. All I remember is rivers are a cheap and efficient source of energy. Solar is the same but takes more space. But using the tide for energy is interesting, and you can time the tide.
  6. About energy, I took an Aquatic biology class in college. According to my professor hydroelectric dams all over the Ohio River. There is a series of locks and dams from Huntington, WV to Evansville, IN. They are functional and could easily provide energy to the Ohio Valley region. But politics and lobbyists keep it from happening. Also, the Ohio river is one class larger than the Mississippi at their convergence. So, the Mississippi river should be the Ohio all the way down to the gulf.
  7. Found an article in Columbus News. Householder sounds like a douchebag. How is the bridge project between Cincy and Florence going? You know, the one that recently got set on fire because of a tanker accident.
  8. My stepdad is a senior electrician at a coal fired power plant. Coal fired plants will eventually go the way of the Dingo. I've seen them wind and solar farms out west and in my in laws backyards. They are far from being efficient. I have no problem with clean energy, but nuclear need to be a part of that discussion. 3 meltdowns in 80 yrs? How many oil spills in that period. Also, down with hydrogen fuel cells. My stepdad installed a homemade one in a truck as an experiment. Work pretty well. An old man once told me, there are many ways to Dublin. Point is, there isn't one single solution, but multiple approaches to solving problems.
  9. There is no money in the cure for ailments. The money is in the treatment.
  10. chevy c10 is pretty sweet though. Put a 4 barrel carb 454 engine in and you have a sweet ride.
  11. I still have an 07 Silverado I bought with 88k. The Vortex engine is great. But, the electrical components are crap. I have had to replace the oil pressure sensor, the fricking fuel pump and a damn drum brake because the actuator and spring sheared off and set on fire. I had to drive home from work and fix it in my wifes work parking lot at 9 pm. So I wasnt very happy about that. Chevy/GMC SUCKS!!
  12. I am not happy with the electrical system of my 2007 Silverado. But a long forgotten Chevy that I really like..the Chevy Scottsdale.
  13. It's not just battery technology, which isnt there. Solar is great in theory but how do you store the energy? I know what you are talking about with the mining of Africa. It lays waste to the landscape. China doesn't give a crap about the environment and is heavily invested in African resources because they want to be the world power. Renewable energy isn't as environmentally friendly as most would think. You still need to mine coal to produce electricity for your hybrids and electric cars. My wife is from Central Illinois. In the last 4-5 years windmill farms have taken over the landscape. Farmers sell the land for royalties. People who have lived there for years have had their property value ruined. And every time we go up there, I would estimated 30% arent functional. Progress was good to a point but we've crossed the threshold of equilibrium. Think of it as a bell curve. We are on the downward slope where further progress is detrimental.
  14. I wont say where, but I'm likely getting a job Starting Feb 1 working in QC on the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines. This place is already contracted to produce 2/3rds of the Moderna vaccine. Is building a brand new facility to produce the J&J vaccine. From what I understand, it's a production and distribution issue. We just dont have the facilities to produce a billion+ doses yet.
  15. I'm going to have to disagree with this. The Spanish Flu which was the worst in modern history lasted roughly 2 to 2.5 years and killed 6.5% of the US population. We arent even close to that. A vaccine is not going to be a cure. Mother nature will takes its course as it as always has. If 2.2 million Americans end up dying from this then I will eat my dirty shoe. The depression may still happen though.
  16. The difficulty in developing a vaccine for a respiratory virus is, our respiratory system is exposed to the environment. Which makes it difficult, almost impossible to target a specific virus. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7149605/ The respiratory system is considered and external system. Unlike something like polio where you are infected by ingesting fecal matter. Respiratory viruses are a pain in the ass.
  17. @snowling, Street Fighting Man is a great song. But, without a doubt, this is my favorite Stones song. It is my understanding that Keith Richards was allowed to let loose and play open chords which gave this song its blues sound. Anyway, my favorite.
  18. Not a big Bowie fan but love Queen. This song is a masterpiece though. Yeah, I know it was edited but still.
  19. I had a little snow in Christmas day down here in the Southern part of Indiana. First time since I was a kid. That's historical.
  20. Charles Bronson The Dirty Dozen The Mechanic The Death Wish series
  21. I know I have mentioned it before but I held my dad's hand as he left this earth, dying from a heart attack. It is a surreal and a very difficult thing to experience, feeling life leave a body. My heart and prayers are with you all. Although not quite the same thing, if you or your wife need someone to confide in, PM me. I still think about him everyday. I'm here to be a shoulder to lean on.
  22. So my phone is a budget model with a weak camera. And I am up late tonight because whatever. But it doesn't matter what time of day it is our oldest cat is attached to me at the hip. She is 10 yrs this year.
  23. I know I'm younger than the rest of you guys but I have a ringing in my left ear 24/7. Makes it hard to go to sleep and hear high pitch sounds. I cant get a good nights sleep due to hip discomfort. I was pretty reckless when I was younger. Im not feeling all the pains you guys are yet but getting up in the morning is taking more time than it used too, looking for some ideas or advice to prolong it?
  24. If you want some comedy relief Google "Amen and A women Cleaver". But watch this first. BTW, Amen, pronounced Ahmen, is loosely translated as 'so it is", from either Greek or Latin origins.
