  1. Saw this story not long ago. Found it interesting. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nytimes.com/2019/05/30/sports/everest-bodies-global-warming.amp.html
  2. I find weather events and climate interesting too. I remember one spring break in April, I think in 1993 or 94 where it snowed enough to build an igloo. Also have had hunting seasons with temps in the 70's and 80's. I'm not sure if weather/climate swings are any more abnormal. Technically, until the next ice age, we will be in a warming trend. Depending on what one believes, humans have existed for roughly 30,000 years and the industrial revolution started about 220 years ago. Humans have definitely polluted earth but as old as earth is I think it's a stretch to claim climate change is man made. I believe it is just earth doing its thing. We are just around to be able to see it happen.
  3. Ugh. One of my favorite sandwiches is a well done Reuben and I am so far away from all of them on this list.
  4. When they read the indictment I thought these guys have got to be in business with the cartels which concerned me. I read a few articles afterwards. In one it said they moved the trial from Indy to Evansville because they found jurors personal information in his cell in Indy. Am definitely glad not to be a part of that.
  5. Didn't want to start a new topic. And I don't consider these people stupid criminals. But anyone heard of this case.... https://www.google.com/amp/s/fox59.com/2019/07/29/jury-chosen-to-hear-federal-trial-against-richard-grundy-iii/amp/ I sat on the jury selection panel today and came close to being selected. Got dismissed in the 3rd round of selections. I don't mind doing my civic duty but wanted to be a million miles away from this case. Was kind of neat to be apart of federal jury selection. Got free Panera sandwiches for lunch, so tax dollars well spent.
  6. I have both a single stage press and multi stage press. Reload for .223 9mm .308 and 30-06. If you plan on volume highly recommended the best multi stage press you can afford. I wish I had got one that feeds the brass into the turret.
  7. A hobby I picked up that ties in with shooting is reloading my own ammo. Kind of a necessity when you own a garand because modern factory loads can damage them. Reloading is something that can be simple or stimulate the science brained types. So I really nerd out when doing it. Anyone else do it?
  8. I am going to write him a letter tomorrow on my lunch break. I attended several of his basketball camps in the early/mid 90's and met him multiple times outside of that and have fond memories of midnight madness. It took a long time but ultimately I'm glad he is trying to be back.
  9. My favorite scene from caddyshack was the baby ruth in the swimming pool.😂
  10. It is a souped up .22. You will like it. Taken some squirrels with it.
  11. Do you remember the first gun you received? Mine was a daisy pump action pellet gun when I was about 10. My stepdad and mom adjusted the clocks to make me think it was about 3 in the morning although it was the time I needed to be up for school. A clever early Christmas present.
  12. If you are close enough to federal land like a national forest or all the BLM land out west you can shoot anywhere as long as you are 100 yds. off of the roadway. I have acres and acres of hoosier national forest just a few minutes away. I have access to a public range an hour away but only use in winter anymore because of too many yahoos.
  13. When I was at the CMP store, 10 yrs ago now, they were on the last of their M1 carbines with no expectation of any more. They were going for $350-$550 depending on grade and manufacturer. Guys that worked there said if you want them get them because they will never be that cheap again. Now their mostly in collectors hands. Best place I can think to maybe score a deal would be during Knob Creek machine gun shoot. But I havent been there for a few years so have no idea what vendors will have or be selling for.
  14. I havent bought any in awhile but I have a few shotguns, rifles, and handguns. My favorites are my CMP certified M1 Garand I drove down to the Anniston Alabama store for. And a replica of a Colt 629 I built. Other than that just basic stuff. I do have a wish list though.
  15. Didnt know how I would feel if he were to come back since it's been so long. But if he does make an appearance at AH I think it will be satisfying. As far as advertising his address and house details, its public record anyone can access. So, do the decent thing and not report it, quit make things easier for the lazy and stupid.
  16. The cremation is a first for me but wifes choice. Pet taxidermy is just creepy.
  17. I didnt know they did pet cremation until recently. We are going this route. Turns out I'm a big softie too.
  18. So this critter in need showed up a couple weeks before last Christmas. Did everything we could to bring her back to health. Had a good 6 months and suddenly lost her today. We have others but this loss is hitting my wife hard.
  19. Ken burns puts together some solid documentaries. I have watched most of them. I am currently watching his Vietnam war documentary.
  20. When in construction traffic on the interstate, I can't stand the drivers who get all the way to the end of a closed lane and then try to merge. I do not let these people in.
  21. It really drives me nuts when a store has a clearly marked set of doors for enter/exit like wal mart does and people enter the exit side and exit the enter side.
  22. When people are eating a burger or sandwich that is on a bun and they eat it with the bottom bun facing up. The bun has a top and bottom for a reason.
  23. Good point on headset. I guess it's just a visual thing.
