  1. I’d rather see Tuttle more that Penix right now.
  2. I feel the defense is going to have to do some special things in the second half and carry the offense if we have any chance of winning.
  3. The halftime score feels like it could easily be 35-0. Down 14-0 is usually doable, if you are confident in your offense/QB.
  4. Small victories..make them punt. Now we need 1st downs
  5. I don’t know about taking him out, but he definitely looks uncomfortable. I want him to scramble more…. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt. It’s football. I tired of saving him and keeping him in a bubble .
  6. Wow… we are really missing T. Mullen right now….
  7. Come on dgambill, you’re such a fun sucker! The odds are very high, but IU could very well pull one out in Un-Happy Valley!😉
  8. Love seeing Coach back in the candy strips! That’s one of the many, many differences between him and Archie. You would never see him dressed like that. He always seemed to be at an arm’s length with all his players…..
  9. Is it just me?…..but IU, pre-Micah ejection, would have beaten Cincy. I also would have like our chances vs. Irish as well.
  10. I know…. Watching this Irish game,…..man! A whole lotta what ifs!!!! If Cincy pulls this out, IU looks a bit better, but the loss still hurts.
  11. I sure as h*\\ didn’t like getting beat 34-6 @ Iowa with Penix’s 3 picks, our 1st game……but man, they look legit. They beat a pretty good Maryland team on the road last night, 54-14. Iowa’s defense intercepted the Terps starting qb 5 times, another with their back up qb, and a fumble for a total of 7 turnovers….wow.
  12. Exactly….. I never understand why our IU fans still continue to waste time and post on guy who’ chose not to be a Hoosier!!! I know it’s an IU message board, but good grief….hang it up already with this guy.🙄🙄🥱🥱
  13. As Allen noted, "Clifford remains a threat to run. And IU knows that better than anyone. He rushed for 119 yards and a score in 2020 against the Hoosiers, and 55 yards and two scores in 2019." After I read this today, it got me thinking..... Last year's game, Clifford racked up way too many rushing yards from a QB against us, but we still pulled it out. That meant a couple of things the IU's defense was doing in order for him to have to run,.... 1. IU's pass coverages were there most of the game.... 2. IU's defense continued to pressure and push Clifford out of the pocket, forcing him to run as well as developing successful option plays. Clifford hangs his hat on his passing prowess. If our secondary can manage the short and deep ball pass coverages and force Clifford to use his feet, are we better off? Pick your poison........ Since Penn State has struggled to run the ball, I like our chances against the run. I don't LOVE our chances, but I like them. If we can keep Clifford's arm at bay, and manage their run game, we may have a puncher's chance.
  14. I'm looking for an amount of aggressiveness that is right up to the edge of what is legal and appropriate from the snap of the ball until the whistle is blown. Not to beat a dead horse here.....I get the aggressive, motivational take from coaches to players, I really do. ....I feel it just could have been worded differently in the public eye. His word for word, comes off a bit of a head scratcher to me. I too would hope, Hoosier82 posted earlier, that could become bulletin board material. JMHO.
  15. There you go......!!!! This is what I was trying to get at.
  16. Not a fan of Coach Franklin's response to a question about expected effort....It just rubs me the wrong way.... Q. You mentioned after the game Saturday about wanting to see your team play with an edge. To you, what does that edge look like? When you say edge, what are you looking for? A: I'm looking for fanatical effort, which I think we've done a pretty good job playing with effort. . And I'm looking for an amount of aggressiveness that is right up to the edge of what is legal and appropriate from the snap of the ball until the whistle is blown. So, nothing that's going to be viewed or looked at as dirty. Nothing that's going to create penalties after the snap. But when people watch us play, that they see a team that plays with tremendous effort and aggressiveness from the time the ball is snapped until the whistle is blown. I would even say to the echo of the whistle, which I used to say all the time. Expect Penn St. to bring it...as expected. Penn St. players knowing where the ref's positioning and eyes are to create Cheap shots, etc., some how creeps into my mind. I know most, if not all teams do this to some degree. However,.... for coach to want effort/aggressive play to be as close to Illegal/against the rules, "without actually being illegal" is a bit unsettling to me. JMHO.
  17. That's where I'm at with this game. I'm sooo looking forward to this prime time, Saturday night game on ABC. However,........when the game clock reads "00:00", most likely after 11 p.m., I pray that final score won't give me nightmares as I somehow try to go to sleep.
  18. Totally off topic here………but I wonder how many young pups on here even know who your profile pic is “suspected to be”?….🕵🏻‍♂️
  19. This game has me nervous and unsettled. If I'm Penn St. or any future opposing team,......I'm feeling pretty good because I've got plenty of film to focus on and exploit IU's subpar areas of play to date. - The first and #1 thing I want to see going into Happy Valley Saturday night, is - OL improvements/upgrade.......I hope to see meaningful and impactful improvements. For example, better, longer (on man) blocking for both Penix and the run game. You better believe State is gonna bring a lot of pressure to get Penix uncomfortable and out of the pocket. If this area of the game is not focused on and emphasized to the max,..........it could quickly lead to Tuttle behind center. - The second thing I want to see is a mixture of some sort of hurry up or quick snap plays so the opposing defense is on it's heels and guessing....... - The last thing I want to see more of is that constant, relentless and smothering defense that stops the run, the deep ball and pressures the QB. This all leads the ultimate goal.......turnovers and pick 6's. Go IU!
  20. "will be"......That's the only part of this post that makes me nervous.
