  1. We are who we are in terms of roster construction. Seems apparent we got a lot of guys playing certain positions but have the skill sets better suited for others. That said, I do think we have talent and can win games as long as we do the following: -Shorten the bench and stop the mass subbing. No more than 2 starters out at a time. If a guy like Edey can play 35+ minutes a game, so can Ware and Reneau. -Play Sparks only if there are foul trouble concerns. He and Reneau have similar styles of play and Malik is better in all aspects. Plus Sparks can’t hit FT’s so half his shots are essentially turnovers. -Give Mac and Banks a chance to be a stretch 4 if the other team decides to pack the paint. -Emphasize to Ware and Reneau they need to be more willing passers. It’s great they can finish through contact but I’d like to see us take those wide open perimeter shots when they are being doubled/tripled. I would hope Mac/Gallo/Gunn/Cupps can shoot when they have time and space. -When we’re down by 6+ points, we need to get into our sets MUCH quicker and have a sense of urgency when we’re playing from behind. -Dominate the glass. More teams miss than they make. If we don’t have shooters, we need to get additional possessions and make the most of transition opportunities.
  2. I said it within the first 3-4 games but it’s absolutely criminal we had an open scholarship and we did not add a guard. If I was a journalist, I would have pressed Woody by now and asked him what the thought process was there. Even as a fan it was painfully obvious: Galloway- has never shown the ability to be a high volume perimeter scorer. He’s our starting SHOOTING guard. Newton- staff knew he had a knee injury and would need time. Did X’s injury last year not teach us the importance of depth and filling all 13 spots?! Gunn/Leal- Haven’t seen since Oladipo or OG a player make a giant leap from one year to the next. I’m not sure what inspired so much confidence from their performances last season. Cupps- He was recruited to be a long-term PG, so nobody was expecting him to come in and light it up. It’s just so frustrating because Ware and Reneau have been really good this season and just a small amount of perimeter scoring or guards who can create shots for themselves would go a long way.
  3. What’s most frustrating to me about that game was Auburn played hard and fast until the very end. That’s inexcusable to me that you can be getting blown out and show no fight or desire to end the game on a higher note.
  4. Gonna need far more effort and intensity but concerned it will get worse if half the team is battling an illness.
  5. we'll find out soon enough but likely cold/flu spread.
  6. Update from TDH. Can read the full article here https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/recruiting-notebook-checking-in-on-the-iu-basketball-class-of-2024/
  7. For anyone that doesn’t have Peacock, full game replay.
  8. Considering Ware got 2 fouls and no X I’ll take a bucket deficit going into halftime. Hopefully a halftime break results in cleaning up the turnovers. Very winnable game here.
  9. Promising that Trilly is suggesting a good 50+ players are already interested in transferring out less than 2 months into the season. We only have one commit for 2024 and will probably need to fill another 3-4.
  10. Adam Howard liked the Trilly tweet and sounds like Maryland 247 insider feels IU has the inside track based on recent rumors. Person on BTB said Rabby reporting possible announcement Friday but wouldn’t say who the leader is.
  11. For sure, although it sounds like we’re the team to beat for Daquan Davis and Sanon is taking a visit soon. Not to mention, Galloway can come back for his Covid year. I think Gallo would do much better playing alongside a high volume shooter like Liam. Takes a lot of pressure off him to create and Gallo’s defense can help lead to some easy transition buckets for Liam.
  12. Sounds promising, especially if you can land Queen and Sanon.
  13. Lots of positives in our direction today but after Boogie Fland I refuse to get too excited over rumors lol.
  14. Thanks, thought I saw somewhere that Woody went as well? If you’re Willard, what do you even say to Queen lol? Our bigs outplayed theirs, ware looks like a 1st rounder, their local guys like DHS and Kaiser haven’t played to expectations, Geronimo doesn’t look any better, they’ve lost to mediocre teams, zero commits for next year, and have limited NIL $. Pretty much have to lean on hoping he wants to be a hometown hero and take 30 shots a game. If you’re IU, all you gotta say is rewatch the game and the decision is easy. Plus our biggest glaring issue will be solved with Liam’s shooting ability.
  15. Don’t have a screenshot but I swear I saw a yesterday a fan account post that the staff went to see Liam and Queen last night. Also, someone on BTB said they watched a Montverde game recently and Paul Biancardi said if he had to guess he thinks Queen follows Liam to IU.
  16. What a weird thing to do. Any reasonable IU fan gave up on this one a while ago and Duke already has a stacked class so not like they are super invested in getting him. Also, if he wanted to draw more attention to his recruitment he might want to take senior OV to his “finalists”.
  17. Up by 3+ possessions. Just continue to get the ball down low on O and force these guys off the 3 point line and beat us at the rim versus Ware/Reneau/Walker
  18. Why isn’t Galloway guarding Mack? Cupps getting cooked
  19. Apparently X is hurt, awesome! Murphy’s law being an IU fan.
  20. Roster construction is getting exposed and will continue to. Can’t have a bunch of guys who can play the 4/5 and then have little to no one who can create or shoot at the 1/2.
  21. Does our team watch film? Literally the same issues every game and have yet to get better at any of those aspects.
  22. Might want to guard the 3 point line and rebound, just a thought!
