Very excited about this one. Huge upside very bright young man. 4 year player that adds to the toughness we are building at IU.  Next dominoe should fall sooner rather than later.  Be shocked if we dont have 1 or 2 more around 1st week of May

This kid has tons of potential and is going to make an impact.

Agreed and that is really the conundrum. Archie's been able to get guys in the 80-150 range, plus Romeo (one year) and TJD (hopefully at least 2). But we lack guys in the 30-80 range that are really needed. But if I'm in that category and also being recruited by MSU or Louisville, it's a hard sell for IU. Talent is needed to win and winning attracts talent. With the gauntlet that is the Big Ten, it is a slog to climb the ladder. It's much easier at the moment in other conferences to show progress. There are only three Big 12 teams and four ACC teams with a winning conference record. B1G has seven plus two more at .500. Do I sign up for the potential of being at the back of the pack and missing the NCAAT if I have options with programs that are already winning at higher levels?

It's like Nebraska or Arkansas in football. You can hire and fire coaches repeatedly, but until something changes the momentum, you're irrelevant.

Archie's at a very challenging crossroads. Does he continue to follow the plan, with the type of players he's been getting, or is there pressure to go for the quick fix with several transfers/jucos etc, taking a risk on character/chemistry. That would require creating some space. too.

Basketball takes 2-3 players to turn around a program/momentum.  Issue is - is there a system in place to implement the players.

Never heard that about the BG job but I did hear about Bob promising him the IU job when he retired.  But then why did Dan take the BG gig?  I would say Felling would be the guy to talk to concerning a lot of things.

On one of Dandakich ramblings, which I enjoy by the way.  He is kind of a Dan Bernstein/Mike North (chicago version); however, actually been there done that.

Anyhow, his rambling was something like... "I'm done with the guy.....he doesnt help his players....I got the BG and WV jobs on my own.....I was blacklisted by Knight after leaving IU......."  something like that.  Obviously there is more to the story.  After calling Pat Knight childish names on air -- I was surprised by Pat not going there and instead was the bigger person.  Pat Knight is as straightforward as it gets and he didn't get on the defense.

If Dan wanted to attend Bob Knight's return to Assembly Hall, ESPN would have let him have the day off.

He's an egotistical tool.  I would rather be a clown.

Listening to Pat Knights interview, he acknowledged he knows Dakitch does not like his family.  To my surprise he didn't blast him, but thanked him because Coach Knight made Dakitch play one on one with Pat everday when Pat was in High School (I think) and he didnt complain.   Pat thanked him for making him a division one athlete and said he would never take that time away.

Dakitch changes his stories so much, I don't know what to believe.  I do think their bad blood started because he claims Knight said he will let Datkich take over for him, never happened.  And then he didn't help him het his BGreen job.

I could be wrong with that story, just going over the many podcasts I listened to last year while doing home repairs.

  5. Don't know why many think the staff wanted Cross also.  They have two kids in the class that can shoot the ball and have similar skill sets.  Geronimo is the type of athlete that makes a team win, period.  Quick, has length, can jump out of the gym, and has a competitive high motor.  Geronimo was who they went after hard once he was in the picture.  Took a while to get him in the picture because he has just arrived on the scene!
