  1. The big question, of course, is where schools would come up with the money. But if the increasing media rights contracts and coaching salaries are any indication, there’s more than enough to go around. End of the article. Most athletic departments operate at a loss after everything is taken into consideration. The judges indicating that viewership (i.e. revenue sports) would determine whether the work being done is actual employment seems to be something ripe for an additional lawsuit. The Janitor is an employee just as much as the Professor. I am still of the belief that if things go this way, the Universities should unilaterally withdraw from all of this. Most college athletes wouldn't even meet the standards of a minor league developmental team. We have a pretty clear indication of what these guys are worth without "Duke", "Kentucky", "Indiana", etc. across their chest in the NBA-DL. The Ft. Wayne Mad Ants average 2500-3500 fans a game. The average salary is $40,500 and health insurance for a 50 game season. That is for the guys just below ready to play in the NBA or guys who float in and out of the league. Some of the foreign markets will pay pretty good, on average between $80,000 and $200,000. Not a bad living, but that is going to be for the Jordy Hulls and Christian Watford type of players. Still really good college guys. If college sports went away tomorrow, I wouldn't switch to watching the minor leagues, I would just fill the time with something else.
  2. Then you will have to break up the NCAA. The cost to run all of these teams will require that the big schools will not want to revenue share things like the NCAA tourney money with the Ball States of the world. I also don't know how Title IX is going to fit into all this.
  3. Frustrating to drop 2 games to Northwestern because I am still completely convinced we are the superior team.
  4. Northwestern alum coming through for the home team....
  5. Compare and contrast our double technical with the above. Dolson needs to compile a greatest hits and lose his shit over it with the BIG front office.
  6. Based on that clip, we got a bench technical for yelling travel, doing the travel hand motion, standing up or some combination of the three. You can watch every dude down that bench. The two technicals were complete horse sh*t.
  7. There is no team that has ever played a perfect game. As bad as we were in the first half, Northwestern was just as bad in the second. We got a 2 points and momentum off the missed goal tend? They got 4 points and momentum off the BS Techs that should have been Indiana's ball the other direction only down 5. The officiating completely dictated play in the first half. Completely. The team did "overcome" that in the second half. We had matched what Northwestern did to us in the first half in the second. The last play was a charge. It should have been our ball with a few seconds to win or go to OT. If that is a charge when there is plenty of time for a team to overcome the bad call, then it damn sure should be one when it is deciding a game.
  8. The Big Ten hired a guy who was basically fired from a public position for a clear lack of judgment for a position that, checks notes, requires quick on the spot judgments. Good call.
  9. https://firstsportz.com/nba-who-is-larry-scirotto-why-did-the-ncaa-referee-discriminate-against-white-people/
  10. They are paid by the league. One is a Purdue grad and the other is a douche canoe with a stick still up his ass about Eric Gordon.
  11. He knocked him from the BIG to the exclusion zone under the basket. That was a blatant push off dude.
  12. I would walk in and throw money on the table and call them out by name.
  13. This is going to be like the first game where we took too long to wake up.
  14. That's the problem. We have a whole bunch of guys on this team that just....disappear.
  15. Going to lose to this shit program again...lol
  16. Big Ten officials are straight trash.
  17. There were a whole bunch of duds picked to get to those couple All Stars.
  18. Looking through that list of names, weak draft. The whole drafting on potential thing wastes a bunch of time and money IMO. The lottery is either Overtime Elite teenagers, college freshman teenagers, or foreigners. I know what I am getting with a senior and I would honestly take that over half of what these teens may turn into. That's just me.
  19. Seems to be a lack of size we are looking at based on the names being talked about below. I have not been paying as much attention to recruiting since the Kaufman-Renn stuff, I am hoping that we have some irons in the fire to replace Thompson and TJD that I am just not seeing.
  20. So this game just got that much bigger in my mind. Let's get some payback.
  21. Again. Punk Sampson in the tournament again.
  22. It is all forgiven if they can go on a 6 game run starting March 16..... (And I think the tournament is going to be really interesting this year. It is wide open.)
  23. Coach Dane or player Dane? Player Dane was a darn good defender.
  24. Yep. Full court pressure after makes and then make sure you don't help too much off of them. Edey is going to get his but it is those wide open 3's that kill you.
