  1. Ok, we got ourselves out of "must win" territory, buuuuuut boy would it be nice to head into that Purdue game on a 6 game winning streak. Chance at knocking off potential #1 and our rival at home followed by a team I have really come to hate in Rutgers. That @Maryland game could be the linchpin in being on an 8 game run with 2 more Q1 wins. The Minnesota game was kind of yuck (but we won), but outside of that we have been playing really well. I hope that travels next week.
  2. What a way to run out the half.
  3. (I hope you guys can tell I am having a little fun at Purdue's expense) @KoB2011
  4. If the banners are dusty, then so is that stat.
  5. I am saying, as a fan of his rival and based on statistics, that he can kindly STFU.
  6. Where did anybody bring up sanctioning from the league? I was saying he is being a whiny bitch. And he is being a whiny bitch heading into our game against them, something he did with Yogi Ferrell (which he admits now was BS) when Yogi was here, so it is something that will probably be of interest to us next week when TJD has 2 fouls 9 minutes into the first half and Edey gets called for his 2nd finally with 3 minutes left to go in the game.
  7. 9 points a game advantage for Purdue from the foul line and complaining for more when you yourself admit you could literally call a foul on every possession in this league. It is an Indiana board, Zach Edey and Matt Painter aren't getting any sympathy from me. IMO he is probably getting put on the line too much because f--- Purdue. Edit to add: But in more seriousness, you brought up Kofi last year. Illinois attempted 18.7 FTs last year to their opponents 16.9. To make it comparable to what Purdue and Edey are getting this year Illinois's FT attempts would have had to be around 34 a game.
  8. After a game, specifically. Sure. Read the article, Painter has a history of batching and moaning to try and get an advantage. They specifically brought up Ferrell. Purdue ranks first in the country in opponent free throw attempts and makes. They are 60's in attempts and 30's in makes. They attempt 20 foul shots to their opponents 9. They make 15.6 to their opponents 7. That is almost 9 points a game advantage. In comparison, we take 17.8 to our opponents 17 and make 12 to our opponents 11...with a more mobile center. TJD gets the snot knocked out of him on the regular. So I have no pity for Matt or Lurch.
  9. As does every post player in the Big Ten. Edit to add: And only one coach that I am aware of is complaining about it in the media.
  10. Do you see Mike Woodson whining to the press about TJD getting fouled every time he touches the ball in the post? It is the f'ing Big Ten. Your school is one of the schools most responsible for the beating that goes on in the post in this league so Painter and Edey can save their crying for someone who cares. I got $50 that 7'4" Edey technically commits an offensive foul every other possession as well.
  11. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/purdue/basketball/2023/01/25/matt-painter-lobbies-for-fouls-on-purdue-basketball-star-zach-edey/69838947007/ A guy called for 30 fouls in 21 games and has only been in foul trouble once (a game his team lost) has a coach whining about him not getting calls. Discuss.
  12. 4 of those 6 over top 10 teams. They are legit title contenders this year.
  13. I think that was the issue last night with JHS. You want them to still shoot within the flow of the offense and there were times last night where I felt he was forcing it instead of letting the game come to him. Lesson to learn. I would rather he learn it in a win though, so good job ultimately getting the W when we really looked out of sorts for most of the game.
  14. I think I take 3 things from that game as the staff. 1)I hit effort again this week. Minnesota was severely outmanned but they gave us a game with hustle. With a few exceptions they were coming up with the live balls. 2)We need to do a remedial walk through on how to play against the zone. After Iowa and tonight, I could see more coaches throwing it at us. We don't attack the zone well at all. 3)I have a talk with JHS about knowing when to force an issue and when your doing too much can hurt the team. I think he felt someone else had to step up last night and his forcing it hurt a little. I appreciate the gumption but you have to know the difference. Bonus 4)All that said, we won. We are back above .500. Take care of Ohio State and get back to the effort of the 3 games before this one and we have played our way back into the thick of the conference. Let's get back to that and see where it takes us.
  15. I had switched off, what did he say?
  16. Eventually the players in this program will realize you can't bring this bullshit effort against anyone in this league and expect to win. Someone want ti argue with me that X should matter for this game too?
  17. I have learned over the past 20 years that nothing that should go easy for this program ever does.
  18. 🤢🤮 So positive....we are up 3 and get the ball to start second half. Negative...we still don't look like we know how to attack a zone. And this isn't some Syracuse special, it looked like a pretty pedestrian/weak 2-3 to me. Worst of all, team doesn't look like they have the same pep in their step as the last 3 games. Losing this game would be a capital D Disaster.
  19. We dribble too much against it.
  20. Awful start. Minnesota is hot garbage and they are down two players. And that zone they are playing is pretty weak. We need to get it in gear, this looks more like NW and PSU then the last 3 games.
