Yeah, nobody on our team boxes out. Nebraska was great at boxing out the other night.

Watched a little Nebraska Wisconsin today and both teams boxing out like crazy.

MM has had some solid boxes throughout the year. So has Sparks. That's a bout it.

Woodson is an idiot. Mass subs cost us the lead and momentum. Hopefully he retires or gets fired sooner, rather than later. He is an idiot!

They were on an 8-0 run before we subbed. I think the momentum was taken.

I don't know why Banks is getting so much run.

  3. Why not tell Ware to never dribble the ball up the court? I get that he was out ahead of the crowd a little, and it sucks to wait for the other team to get back on D and make the safe pass to a guard, but isn't the best case scenario of him dribbling up court that he then takes his time and carefully passes to a guard?

I didn't get a chance to watch this one because I am not paying for BTN+, but it seems like we are still saying the same thing at the end of December that we were saying at the beginning of the season.  The get everyone healthy thing is out of their hands but all the other stuff still being question marks right now should be concerning.

I think the only performance we have put together where you could say that we looked like a team that should be in the tournament wad the loss to Kansas (I am basing this on the box score for last night as I couldn't watch).

All the easy ones are done now.

It's not hard to find it playing online. I'm generally willing to pay, but big ten plus is just a bridge too crappy.

I guess we don't believe in going for a big lead before putting in the bench?

If we could have squeezed 5 good minutes out of Gunn or Banks, we beat kansas. I have to assume developing guys to play those minutes is Woody's priority in a game like this. Given our history this year, I wouldn't mind seeing that happen happen when we're up 20, but I guess coach trusts guys more than I do.

  6. I watched on my phone, so I couldn't exactly tell how much contact there was on a given play, especially around the arms and hands, but the foul discrepancy seems entirely justified. We spent the day shooting in the paint and they shot jumpers. If anything, I feel like they were letting our big men get hammered in the paint - all the calls came on drives.

We also held them to below 30% from 3. With a couple of exceptions, I think we guarded their outside shots decently. Wish we could have forced more turnovers, hit our damn free throws and hit a couple more 3s. If we hit 70% from the line and 30% from 3, we win by 11.

I remember some people saying he was only average, athletically, for the NBA.

That young man laughs at average NBA athleticism.

His vertical, and how quickly he gets off the floor, is next level for his size.

    And GOOD FOR YOU TJD!

I probably said something like that about him after his sophomore year. It's amazing to me how much more athletic he became and how much touch around the rim he developed. I don't think of those as things you going to learn in college, and he did. Given how much he improved in those areas, I'm also surprised he wasn't drafted a good bit higher.

One blown call typically does not impact the outcome. Even if it costs a possession that can be overcame, ie one less turnover.

Some variation of your last two lines comes up all the time here, and it's just wrong. No one is suggesting that refs are so bad that one team doesn't even have a chance to win, but if the refs are calling things against one team, then the other team has to win by more than just one. That's what the complaints are about. If you broke down last yesterday's game, do you honestly think it would be exactly even? If it's not, then one team, maybe it was even us, received points that they should not have. There's no way that all the calls refs make in a given game even out perfectly. One team is disadvantaged and it make it harder for them to win that game.

I certainly agree that refs aren't against us, or anyone else, but I do think successful teams get the benefit of the doubt more than they deserve. We haven't reached that level in quite a while, so that works against us when we play a team like Kansas. I also think some coaches are more effective than others at lobbying refs. We haven't had one of those coaches in the 20 years I have been an IU fan. I also think some players are good at lobbying refs and some are so bad at it that they probably cost themselves calls (eg. Xavier Johnson). And, some players get a reputation (De'Ron Davis comes to mind) and get whistled for things that a lot of other guys are getting away with. As a whole, yes, I think those things add up to the calls going against us more often than the other way around. Never so bad that we don't have a chance, but we sometimes have a lesser chance that the play on the court dictates.

  9. Man, a rule that would have allowed the refs to overturn that goal-tending call on them seems crazy. We had the rebound and were in a good spot for a put back, if they took that away from us by making a bad goal tending call and then took that away from us too, that seems unjust.
