Not completely true actually. We are also on Carter Whitt who is more likely than Lander to reclassify to 2020 according to experts and I'm pretty sure I saw we are in contact with a JUCO Pg somewhere but could be wrong there.
7 hours ago, CincyHoosier said:That's a bit disappointing. It would be nice to have a back up plan. Devonte will be gone. Then we have Rob and Al. If one of those guys goes down we are screwed. Am I missing something?
Yes Whitt has an IU offer but nothing connecting him to IU since the offer. The Juco PG was looked at by the staff and they could still be watching but he doesn’t have an IU offer so it doesn’t sound serious. Grad Transfer is the most likely option but that won’t be looked at until the season is over unless they get involved with some unforeseen high school kid between now and then.

For someone who follows recruiting more closely - are we actively pursuing another PG for the 2020 class, transfer or otherwise?
No. The option is on the table for Lander to reclassify to the 2020 class but that is it.

Saw him play last year, very smooth player. Fun to watch . I have also heard, they expect him to be drafted 1st round by MLB.
9 hours ago, Beowulf50 said:Yep MLB is what I have been hearing as well.
It’s a slim chance he goes first round. There’s so much that goes into the MLB draft that’s differed than other drafts and it’s to early to project. That’s said I would expect him to go in the top 5 rounds at least.

How does he compare to guys like Nick Schnell (Roncalli) and Ashe Russell (Cathedral) who have been local high draft pick recently in MLB. You could throw Nolan Watson (Lawrence North) in there as well.
He’s different than all of them. He’s a SS. Schnell plays OF and the other two got drafted as pitchers. I don’t know that he’ll be a first rounder out of high school but he could be picked fairly high.

Saw a retweet of Bruiser Flint visiting a "5*" Aminu Muhammad. No mention of class, location.
Anybody know anything about him?
2021 wing IU’s been in contact with. I believe from Missouri. I think he has his own thread around here somewhere.

I haven’t seen him. Will he grow much though? Seems pretty tiny but I know that isn’t a huge concern in HS it might make a difference in college.
No idea but he’s 6’0 160 right now as a sophomore. So height isn’t the biggest issue and weight will continue to get better as he gets older I’m sure.

Well...we will need a pg for sure it seems!
Ive heard through the grapevine that Coach Hahn at North Central thinks that Walker will be the best player he’s coached by the time he graduates. Just for a reference he coached Kellen Dunham and Sean McDermott at Pendleton. Yeas he’s a different type player but that’s still pretty high praise.

I think Thomas could be an immediate impact player on the defensive side of the ball. Seems to have the athleticism and instincts for it.
Possible but he might not need to be.

Leland Walker is a class of 2022 kid from North Central that might be someone to keep an eye on. He played as a freshman last year and has already recieved high major interest.

I do believe it will be a 5 man class
I hope it is. That way they can take a chance on a player or two that don't have to be day 1 impact players. Like a Pierce Thomas, Gus Etchison, Kooper Jacobi, Jayden Brewer just to name a few.

My wish list for this class is as follows
1 low post: Furst
1 pg: TBD
1 shooter: Wesley? (if he isn't a shooting threat I'm not sold) TBD
1 wing/stretch 4: Kaufman, Patterson
I also wouldn't be surprised if this turned into a 5 man class. If it does I would take a chance on a lower rated player with some upside or talented lower rated kid from Indiana that can shoot it from deep.

I agree Furst, Wesley a pure shooter and a point
Thomas doesn’t fit the pure shooter mold in the scenario that @Coach Robby through out. But I’d take his upside of overall athleticism and hope the jumper keeps getting better.

People seem to have different thoughts and opinions on all of them. Here’s my worthless one...
I want em all. Is that realistic? Maybe, maybe not. How would it help long term? We may get 0 to 3 of these guys. I want a recruiting class that will fit in well with who will already be there. 2 or 3 of these guys are likely day 1 starters. Will that hurt players that are already there? Or help them get better? As a coach I’d want my players to be challenged.
here is MY ideal in-state only class of 21, based on what I’ve seen, not rankings...don’t have enough info to know of out of state players. You can agree, disagree, call me fat, whatever. Just my 1.7 cents
Kaufmann (a 3-4 position)
Wesley (potential scoring/combo guard)
P. Thomas (or an athlete of similar talent)
a hidden gem...Etchison? Someone else who may pop up? A tough nosed ball stopper who’s a great practice player for 1-2 years, then leads as an upperclassman.
I like this thought process although I would lean towards Furst. IU needs a 5 moving forward not another big wing. Furst would be a solid replacement for Brunk moving forward.

How come Archie don’t recruit La Lumiere...looks like Minny picked one out....from the page it looks like Butler has taken over the state..😂
Archie has. The ketchup kid and Isaiah Stewart both went to La Lumiere although neither one started their careers their. I will say that I have heard in the past that La Lu is a little shady but I don't know that to be factual. I will say that Kumari Lands who is from Indy in the 2022 class that goes to La Lu is someone IU should be looking at.

How do they even find out about players in Indiana...aren’t they located in Texas
Their head coach is Carson Cunningham who is from Indiana and played at Purdue then later coached at Andrean. Ryne Smith is one of his assistant coaches at well. Not to mention AAU is very national and opens up recruiting to anyone.

I know I use them as a punch line quite often, but in all seriousness, does Incarnate Word offer every off the radar player?
I think they just try and jump in on guys early hoping that they won't lose them to a bigger school late. This does happen quite often with kids they offer this early though and not just Incarnate Word but most low and even mid major schools.

I just read the article on his game...what kind of looks is he getting from college coaches...any contact from IU..seen some videos of him and he looks like he could be an Indiana all star
3 offers right now from Incarnate Word, IUPUI, and Western Michigan. He could blow up before long with his athleticism. He has a very good chance of being a junior all star this year.

I could be underestimating his height but I don't think so. If anyone could appreciate his potential it would be Archie.
I plan on watching him again this year when I don’t have to worry about what our players are doing on the court. So I’ll get a better look at his actual height then.

I saw this kid play at the IBCA top 100 event at Ben Davis and was blown away. From a pure athletic standpoint and ball handling skills this guy is elite I just don't know where he ends up because he looked to be about 5-10, 150.
He blocked our 6’5 post player on one shot that was ridiculous. He is pretty well put together from a muscle stand point considering his height and weight. I though he was a little taller than 5’10 but that might just be because he played bigger than that.

The biggest issue with playing baseball and basketball in college is that the seasons overlap to much.
