  1. That's what makes both players (and the conversation) so tantalizing. The mere possibility of them putting "it" together and playing to their physical, mental and emotional potentials is alluring.
  2. Despite what has been said/written in the last 2-3 weeks, XJ is neither the Savior nor the Antichrist. He's an emotional player that is likely trying too hard, knowing this is his last year. And for those thinking I might be making an excuse for his nuttiness (I'm not), he could also be thinking that his experience gives him the coy ability to get away with some things (it doesn't). I agree that what he does have - when focused - is the ability to attack and penetrate lanes better than anyone on the team, and the unique ability to pester opposing guards. Especially against Purdue, where Edey will get his own, getting their guards off-rhythm and out of sync can be extremely important.
  3. I love that the expectations are high. Sign of a solid program. I look forward to seeing this team put things together and challenge some of their southern stalwarts for National Seeding.
  4. I really dislike carrying anything in my pockets (phone included, but I will NEVER have one of those belt clips, lol); my iPhone case is one of those card holders (3 CCs & ID) and that's it. Rarely have cash on hand. Now with electronic key fobs and touch button door locks, it's becoming even more paired down, which I like. Only a matter of time until "Apple-Vision" becomes standard in glasses/contacts, and other implements get smaller and more streamlined.
  5. Totally agree. Trying to assert post-mortem perfection on something that inherently isn't is lazy and a bit lame. Woulda, coulda, shoulda's carry zero weight and is counter to the point of the game(s) -- which is to see things develop in real time, on the field/court.
  6. For all our collective hand-wringing, things could be a lot worse! Better to be at/near the top, than the bottom.
  7. Don't get me wrong, I am too. I thought he played with great pace and energy last night. It's the attacking element that both TG and Cupps lack*, which is extremely important with this roster construction. *or more fairly put, is simply just better at
  8. This will sound negative, but XJ played at the level he *should*. I think his performance today looks better because of the turd laid at Nebraska. Today should be the norm— he’s just too good and experienced to not be more consistent. Malik gets my vote because he took the scoring load and made the game his.
  9. To spin this in the positive, I think it's because he's more engaged on the defensive end. He still has a lot to learn and experience to gather, but he's putting himself in better positions more frequently than he did at the beginning of the season. And as @IUFLA said, the push off was blatant. That impacted his and the team's rhythm and flow by sending him to the bench.
  10. Wow. Of all things... interesting.
  11. Excellent guard play that gets the ball cleanly to shooters (who can make outside shots) and down low to bigs who are quick and decisive on the block.
  12. This is good IU basketball! These ladies are playing SO well.
  13. Sloppy TOs. Lazy TOs. Unintelligent TOs. It's happening way too frequently.
  14. Would it be inhumane to make the team run home from Lincoln tonight?
  15. Jeeze @JaybobHoosier didn't we already suffer enough?
  16. I picked the wrong game to stop sniffing glue.
  17. Admittedly, living on the west coast I don't follow the Pacers as much as I did when I was younger, so I'm not super familiar with Neimhard's game. Mathurin seems to be better offensively, so swapping him & Neimhard for OG -- specifically with the makeup of this team and it's easy ability to score -- seems like a good thing. Anunoby would bring in an element of defense that would really help the Pacers.
  18. Yes, if only because of the brand. Fair or not, in sports $$ matters and more people would be/are interested in the Hoosiers than Sycamores. In CBB this works in our favor. We might not have to be ahead of other teams/programs in our NET range to be picked ahead of them.
  19. I wonder how much the number of games effects the viewership... less games for an NFL team, so they are weighted more than NBA? Missing an NBA game isn't as big of a deal because they play so many and the wait between each usually isn't as long. This is obviously not a new point, but I'm in the camp that Bowl season is a drag now simply because of over-saturation. With so many options, they hold less and less meaning/importance and have become the equivalent of participation trophies (which on another note makes IU's lack thereof even more sad; but that's a thread for a different day). They ultimately don't mean as much as they should.
  20. OG to the Knicks: https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/39209777/knicks-acquiring-raptors-og-anunoby-trade-sources-say
  21. The Wrestler is great! Loved it too.
