Sunseri might deserve the fastest raise in the history of IU.

West is a huge get as he was one of the top DT’s out there and we had an urgency there. Burris, Carpenter, West now with the transfer from JMU and Harrison gets us better coverage for the DT rotation.

I see absolutely zero reason to spend #13 on a marginal player. Get a reserve for the front court and hold the last scholarship for someone worthy. I don't see IU needing bench filler at this point.
Totally. Just to be clear I didn’t mean a marginal player. More like marginal importance to the success of the team this year. Every recruit should serve a significant purpose whether it be a role for PT or development in the pipeline. Nothing wrong with developing a player for the future.
A guy like Tim Priller would not have been in either category and would have been gone after one year in the NIL world. Definitely don’t waste a spot just to fill it.

Nice IDS article on Bryson...sounds like just the kind of kid we want in our program...
I know Ant Wright said he doesn't think Tucker will get enough minutes to make an impression...but I wouldn't mind having a 3rd straight Big 10 Freshman of the Year 🙂
The other nice thing is Tucker’s dad said that one and done isn’t his main priority. Liam openly says he is one and done.

The nice thing is we did as good of a job as can be expected with our core roster. After we get our rotational center, we are on the margins with that last spot.

Yeah this kid can make 3s and pass the ball. Doesn't seem to be as athletic as his brother but reasonably mobile.
Probably throws a baseball like a Purdue big, though... 🤣
The mascot’s “look” was awesome

Purdue is all in on Sisley….probably a one man class
Nobody here wants to keep talking about Purdue, with all due respect.

From the clips I saw, he looks like he plays hard, scraps around and is competitive. Not as good of a shooting stroke as the kid from Grace College but to be polite that young man’s body didn’t seem as well put together and he seemed to be a bigger risk.

Good article. One slight comment is that Bostad seems to like Drew Evans at guard. He seemed to play with the ones at left guard in the spring game from my recollection. The offense has a lot of potential.

I’m fine with him being out of the conference.

Yep....sometimes they are saying things without. This kid is really, really developing. This time last year I was Haralson, Sisley and whoever else....now I almost have this kid as much a priority as the others.
Agree. Not saying he’s the best player, but he’s my favorite.

Good interview with Ponds. Kid looks super competitive. Love that spirit at corner. He’s got very good coverage skills. Looks like an awesome get.

The huge wave of JMU players transferring to IU tells you all you need to know about what they think of Cignetti and his staff. Across the board, and not just here and there, these players believe in the staff and trust them as coaches to optimize their abilities.

It’s going to be awfully boring all summer if we go back to debating Woody. It’s well trodden at this point. We all are counting on success this year.
My view is that the success in the portal is a huge feather in our cap and will be a huge boon to us with regard to attracting the next coach. It’s all a win-win.

I’m not a Baba Miller expert but on a brief glimpse he looks like he could legit play 4 or 5. I think there are minutes to be had for him.

I don't think that Miller will happen.
Is the Monmouth center still in the mix?

The staff has quietly accumulated a very good start to this class. We seem to be far ahead of historical norms in terms of collecting higher end players.

I want Ponds!!
Buuuut.. I don't think the lack of size is going to make them only slots corners.
Basically, so far, our staff has shown to not care (currently) about the size of any of these defensive guys. We've grabbed undersized dudes at all three levels.
Player development is going to be huge. It sure looks like we have a good staff and it’s going to be huge across the board, but the corners definitely highlight its importance. I like our prospects at corner but most of them are unproven play after play at this level. A guy like Sharpe is right out of central casting as to what a corner looks like getting off the bus. Now let’s see how this group develops. Talent is there and Cignetti is process oriented as he says.

Also this happened:
With the loss of Minor and picking up Warnell, I wonder if Toomer moves back to corner? Feels like we need another boundary corner with solid size. Hoping guys like JoJo Johnson, Jamier Johnson and Jamari Sharpe take a step forward. I’d think we’d want one more upperclassman transfer.
Our slot corners seem solid with the transfers like Doss and the new JMU player who looks like he might be coming.

I’m constantly looking for IU gear to buy and the offerings are pathetic. I can’t be the only one itching to literally spend money and it’s a big fail. Compare it to, say, Michigan gear and we need Adidas to improve it. I live in Chicago and see basically gear of the entire conference continually and we need an upgrade.
I 100% agree that making the coaches gear available would be a hell of a start.

The way the roster is set currently, I see Goode regularly playing the 4. Who else is going to get those minutes, based on the roster?
MR/MM are the only 4s on that roster and we aren't recruiting one.
That’s a good point. Maybe it will signal that Woody will play four out, at least for stretches.

Unless we had a kid willing to come in and redshirt Hemingway would be a perfect fit. A home state kid. Used to playing limited minutes and having a defined role. If he catches a heater you ride him. Plays 2-3 and compliments Goode who will help at the 3-4. Veteran kid…with tons of bball experience playing at a high level. Won’t blink at the competition.
I can’t imagine Woody would actually play Goode at the 4. He wants a different element. Maybe for a minute or two but not a regular thing.

CCC has a process and he’s got a handle on all aspects of an organization, most importantly his staff.
Let’s see how it plays out but top to bottom this staff seems like the real deal.
