  1. Per ESPN's Diana Russini, the Bears have had discussions about making Jim Harbaugh their head coach in 2024. For you Beats fans…
  2. The standards and expectations at Texas are much different than at IU. Herman won 4 bowl games in a row while he coached the Longhorns. Can't think of anyone on this board who wouldn't be ecstatic with that record. He was 4-8 in his first year at FAU. Nothing great, but probably what was expected with bringing in a new staff. I would have taken Herman over anyone else that has been mentioned in this search.
  3. Given that Edey is Canadian, I think these guys would know how to handle him
  4. The PFW Mastodons move to 7-1 with a win over Green Bay. Go Dons! Meanwhile, Louisville trails Bellarmine by 7 in the second half.
  5. How do you know that the JMU Mike Shanahan isn’t the actual Mike Shanahan?😛😛
  6. Fergie Jenkins. 1971 Cy Young Award winner.
  7. I have mentioned this before in various threads. I was in Madison when Bucky was just as bad as we are… and without the money we now have. Why can’t we find our Barry Alvarez who will make the school his career?
  8. I am not anti-Mike Hart. I just want to make sure that complete due diligence is done and that all candidates are given a fair and equal shot to present themselves. Hart may end being the best candidate we have. If so, I will completely endorse him. However, until they name him or anyone as hc, I'm going to keep open to all possibilities, far fetched or not.
  9. The mentality of this board, probably rightfully so, is that the football program will not shake its reputation of being one that coaches want to stay at long term, until someone comes in and proves they can be a long term winner here. That as soon as someone has success at IU, they will move on to bigger and better things. I hope the administration doesn't have this same mindset. Going into this not thinking that we're going to get our long-term solution becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy and will just continue the cycle of having to find someone new every few years.
  10. This season was James Franklin's 10th at PSU
  11. But he was an internal promotion. Players knew him. Didn't have as big of a challenge of needing to re-sell the players on staying. Lots more variables than just whether he had been a HC prior. Can't simplify the situation to that one to support your argument.
  12. I have no qualms with Mike Hart, and certainly would not put him in the same conversation with Dane Fife, character wise. I believe he would make a good HC. I just wonder how quick he would be to jump at a better opportunity. We are trying to get away from the perception that IU is a stepping stone program. We are trying to build up the NIL coffers, the facility budget, the coaching salaries, to turn that perception around. Given Hart's history with IU, it does concern me that he would jump at the first chance. Maybe the other guys would too. However, they haven't shown that they will.
  13. Dane was not on our staff before leaving for MSU.
  14. And he bailed on IU as soon as a spot became available at his alma mater. Not comfortable with that history.
  15. In regards to Gruden.... I get the concern. I get the potential backlash. I get that the President and AD would be sticking their necks out. But... At what point does someone get another chance after having done some things a long time ago? If the university is serious about having a winning program, shouldn't the best candidate be hired. If Gruden is viewed as having the best credentials, isn't it time to take a leap of faith and give him a shot? I am not saying that he should be the coach. I am not saying he should be automatically disqualified. I am saying that he should be given the opportunity to pursue the position, and let his coaching acumen be the determining factor.
  16. Glad I a no longer a student there. Sad that the atmosphere around IUB has sunken to such depths.
  17. Headline on CBS Sports this morning that Cuban is selling a majority stake in the Mavs. He’s about to receive $2 billion. Maybe an influx of NIL money for the football program?
  18. Jaylin Lucas and James Evans 3rd team. Andre Carter and Kobe’s Minor honorable mention. Congrats all! Offense announced tomorrow. Too bad we’ll lose them in the portal
  19. Tom Fornelli, a senior writer on CBS Sports wrote an article today with the premise that “Indiana is acting like a football school, for once “ by ponying up the buyout money. That’s the opinion that the program is up against, unfortunately.
  20. Vanderbilt is worse. Same lack of success with much higher academic standards
  21. The local paper again had a story about the coaching search today. Provided pros and cons to the candidates they thought were possible hires. FWIW, Herman nor Doehring were on the list. The con they mentioned with Candle was that Toledo was the easiest MAC school to recruit to, and that he might have trouble bringing talent to Bloomington. Also listed were the Tulane hc and Wommack with the criticism that they have not proven they can recruit the Midwest. He did bring up a name I have not seen --the HC of UNLV. With the turnaround job he's done. I still am in the Herman camp, and think we should be pursuing him until he shuts us down.
  22. Duke won’t because their head coach has been hired by Texas A & M
