  1. You're kind of stretching here...I provided Ankiel as an example of how fragile confidence can be...In no way did I say Kopp would wind up like that...Ankiel is the extreme end of the spectrum...For you to insinuate that I'm saying "that's what we should prepare for" is silly... The point I'm making is that while Miller Kopp has shown he can shoot the basketball at a 40% clip, there are no guarantees...He needs to regain his confidence...And I hope Coach Woodson can help him there... @FW_Hoosier brought up a good point...As a freshman, Kopp shot 32% from 3...Sophomore 40%...Junior 33%... So which year is really the outlier?
  2. Where did I say I "expected it?" I said confidence is a funny thing...It can come and go...Sometimes it can go forever (see Rick Ankiel))... I watched probably half of Northwestern's games last year, and he was very good in some...Toward the end though, it was tough to watch...He'd miss, and he'd just keep on shooting...Collins kept his faith in Kopp, but he was never able to work his way out of it... Kopp is limited as a basketball player (as was Jerome Hunter)...If he's not shooting well, he's not good enough in other phases of the game to stay on the floor... I hope the change of scenery does him good...We'll see I guess...
  3. "Coach K and Boeheim don't have much time left. Think they'll be here for your whole time?" Said the 63 year old Mike Woodson
  4. I certainly hope so...The guy I watched at the end of last year was really struggling...And you could tell it was affecting him...
  5. I lived about 2 blocks west of Blackberry Creek in the Blackberry Crossing subdivision...
  6. Maybe...I hope he can come out of it... But I've seen others who, once they lost confidence, they never got it back..
  7. No, I was down in the Florida panhandle then, dodging hurricanes...moved to Chicagoland in 2000...
  8. The 3 was definitely their thinnest spot. Kopp led the team in mpg. Most of the time when they rested Kopp, they'd bring in Gaines, Berry, or Greer and push Audige to the 3. My concern for Kopp is the loss of confidence. His last 9 games he shot 33% overall, and 20% from 3. It was speculated that he had some injury issue (finger on non-shooting hand), but it wasn't like he didn't get time (32 mpg) or shots (10 attempts per game) during that time. I know some have speculated his role will be different and we won't rely on his scoring as much as Northwestern did, but we will be relying on him hitting shots at his pre slump rate if he's going to be effective for us.
  9. Let the guessing begin! I got Buckner...😁
  10. Like I said, I'll be the first to admit I was surprised at Woody's NBA coaching chops. The further I dug, the more I liked. As for your concerns, I take it those have been allayed by Woody's quick start?
  11. Thanks @Reacher...I sit on the highest point in the Splendora Metro Area, so I don't expect any flooding, which is good...It didn't even flood here during Harvey, although it did rain 50 inches and was out of my drain-off ditches up to about the middle of my front yard (about 70 yards from the house)...
  12. That may well be, but if you look at the beginning of this thread some of the big NBA fans were the most skeptical of Woody's hiring...
  13. Northwestern almost always had 2 of their 3 bigs (Beran, Nance, and Young) in the game at one time. Beran and Nance were more 4s, with Ryan Young being the only one that was a traditional post player without much of an outside game...so yeah, Kopp was pretty much the 3 all the time... But, like you said, he may be called on to play the 4 in a short lineup...
  14. Anybody else think Machado's slide into Edson was dirty? I despise the Deadbirds, but that was a BS play...you could hurt someone like that...
  15. One thing I thought was that at least from a Hawks perspective, they listened to one of his assistants (Larry Drew) and thought Woody had topped out and Drew could continue the climb (he didn't)...As far as the Knicks go, they've been dysfunctional for years... As great as Woody has been at IU so far, I just get the feeling he can be a bit stubborn, and NBA GMs don't care for that...
  16. Good question...He didn't have championship type success in the NBA, and, as you said, I don't watch much of it, so I didn't really know...but when the rumors got more serious, I looked up his coaching record and thought, "Hey, Woody can really coach!: The success he had with the Hawks and Knicks surprised me, especially comparing what had gone on before, and what went on after with both franchises... All I know is, seeing how things are going, I sure am glad Brad Stevens likes Boston so much...
  17. So there's his chance... It would seem to me that after what he witnessed growing up he'd take this opportunity to change...Maybe basketball isn't an option, but he has college credits, so do something with that...Help kids that are growing up like he did...They'll look up to a former college star...Be a part pf the solution, not a part of the problem...
  18. 7'0 250...It'll be nice to have some size against Dickinson, Edey, and Cockburn (if he goes back to Illinois, which I don't think he is)... And I would assume that TJD is gone after this year...Nice to have Durr as an option...
  19. Saw yours right after I posted mine...
  20. <sigh> And I was so looking forward to your next endorsement... 🙄
  21. You can say a lot of things about John Daly, but the guy has a huge heart... I remember watching him win the PGA...It was like some common guy rolled into town and shot the lights out...Amazing... His ride has been bumpy, and he's been wrong on some things, but I always find myself cheering for him...
  22. I was in a room full of Reds fans when Perez hit that...It sure picked up the mood... Rip Sewell was the originator of that ephus pitch...They say Whitey Kurowski use to spit at it as it was coming in...
  23. Is that a Lane Bryant tag on his orange jumpsuit?
