  1. I was an adult by the time the computer age rolled around. I do remember when I was stationed at Scott AFB one of my co-workers use to bring a Mattel Intellivision in on mids and we'd play baseball and football...The tips of my thumbs would be numb for days afterwards because of how the controllers were modelled...
  2. The one I bought seemed very basic with pretty good functionality for the price...Think a 12 year old will be able to fly it ok?
  3. The original had no such functionality and we thought Kung Fu was something in a can made by LaChoy... David Carradine wasn't on the scene yet...
  4. I always thought the scar on the face was a nice touch...
  5. This went a loooong way when hit with a bat...
  6. I had the Browns and Cardinals version...
  7. Another dumb, one trick pony...
  8. Every kid who owned this saw the 3 tricks it could perform... Walk down stairs Slink from hand to hand Get with your best friend and see how far it could stretch...That one usually ended the fun...
  9. Remember this? The line control gas powered airplane by Cox. I had a neighbor that got one...his dad insisted we go over to the local elementary school to fly it. He started it on the concrete basketball court. Lasted about 30 seconds before he twisted the line wrong and augered it into a 1,000 piece mess. I can still hear his dad screaming...
  10. They're still teaching it like that? That's the basic concept, but the "cake" would look like something off "Worst Cooks in America."
  11. Hell yeah...if I was near him, but he's in Southwest Illinois...I won't get up there until summer... I did have motive though. I want to get him interested in aviation...maybe he'll follow in grandpa's footsteps...
  12. Yeah, but you have to have the rules for them because some people always want to push the envelope...There was a nimrod flying one on the final approach course for runway 08R at IAH a couple of years back...Don't want to ingest anything like that in an engine...
  13. I'd say a Weber too IF @Inequality was only looking for a charcoal grill. But he said in his initial post gas/charcoal combo, and I don't think Weber makes anything like that.
  14. Damn right! One of the best lines I ever heard from a controller to a complaining pilot... "All due respect sir, but you've got one aircraft to worry about. I have 15."
  15. And that's the sad part about it. A couple of the players who would be at risk are there because it's Indiana... Just like their coach was back in 1977...
  16. I don't have any experience with them...but a couple of neighbors have them and both went with Oklahoma Joe's brand. Look well made. I know they sell them at Academy Sports.
  17. I just bought this drone for my grandson who turns 11 next week. Anyone here fly these things? Any tips or precautions? It's below the 8.8 ounce FAA registration requirements, but was just wondering if anyone has experience operating these things...
  18. Sure...happy to share info... As far as land goes, if you want good, healthy grazing, figure about an acre per horse. We have 3 acres and at one time had 4 horses on it, and toward the end of summer they'd have it pretty worn down. We have 2 on it now, and they have plenty to graze on...
  19. I figured it out once, and for ours it was about $3,500 per horse per year... That includes hay ($9 per bale delivered and put up and we go through 250 square bales a year), grain ($15 per bag and we go through a bag a week) pine shavings ($5 per day every day) for stalls, farrier fees...$150 per visit every 6 weeks...we don't have them shod now because they aren't jumping and lightly ridden, so we just have them trimmed...shoeing would be about $300 for both of them... and vet visits about $700 each in the spring and fall for shots, teeth floating, and sheath cleaning for the gelding. My wife and I do all of the daily work required (mucking stalls, ect) so we don't pay for any of that unless we bring somebody in when we go somewhere. A lot of people around here don't put much into their horses. They let them pasture graze, feed them rice bran rather than grain, never take them in a barn, and don't fiddle with shots or farriers. And it shows. So, yeah, there's a big disparity between taking care of them properly, and just owning them.
  20. My Dad would have said, "God D****t you're not calling collect, are you?" True Depression Era kid...
  21. We had a nice sized wedding (and a bigger reception) back in 1983. There's an overview pic on page 1 of this thread (I think). We had a Catholic wedding on Scott AFB (I'm not Catholic, but my wife is, and I had to agree to have our kids go through Catholic catechism classes). The Catholic priest was a USAF LT Colonel. Nice guy. Before I had to go out in front to everybody, he could see I was nervous. Took me over to a little fridge they had, and poured me a big glass of sacramental wine We invited him to the reception...He brought his "sister" (who he seemed to be quite chummy with) and kept him steeped in scotch and waters all night... Good luck to both of you...Sounds like you both have priorities in order...
  22. "Sources tell The Daily Hoosier that the remaining IU staff focused in on Smith, Gary’s Jalen Washington, and verbal commit C.J. Gunn when it came to the in-state class of 2022."
