  1. I wish "The Whinin Illini" had gotten beat by 60...
  2. I don't follow the NBA but just saw Westbrlook to Washington for Wall and a 1st rounder
  3. West Virginia up on the Zags. Huggy can coach...
  4. The Natural! Barbara Hershey, after getting scorned by Norman Dale, shoots a baseball player...
  5. So serious guess...He at one time worked as a grave or outhouse hole digger?
  6. I don't know, but my thought over the years was that he had a raging case of jock rot at one time or another...
  7. And that's one of the reasons why IU is a more difficult job than many of the Blueblood schools, particularly Kentucky and Kansas. There's a faction within our fanbase that won't stand for the "win at all cost" mentality. And I'm sure that's a residual effect of the Bob Knight years good or bad (good in my book). As I said, winning might win over some, but not everyone by a long shot. I'm a "leopards never change their spots" kind of guy. I thought the Sampson hire was a bad decision from the get-go, especially with the NCAA already nipping at his heals at Oklahoma. Maybe he would have turned over a new leaf, but color me skeptical. He's in a better place for him now simply because U of H has been overlooking things for decades. Now, I know the infractions at IU were insignificant, but I, personally, can't overlook the drug use and flaunting of academic standards. And I think a lot of IU fans are in that camp. I was glad when Dakich cleaned house. I was at the game at Northwestern when Jamarcus Ellis wouldn't even stand with the team in the huddle. I was hoping Dakich would order him off the court right then and there...
  8. Because I saw the kids Sampson recruited and I just don't think Cody, an avowed Christian who took the academics seriously (and DID eventually graduate from IU) would have fit in with that group...
  9. All due respect, I don't understand the point you're making here... If it's that the Zellers would overlook cheating in a program during one of the 3 kids recruitment, I think you'd have a whole lot of people who know the family personally that would argue that point...
  10. I guess we'll see...He had some talent last year too and went 18-13 9-9 and was probably going to miss the tournament. My bigger point was on such a short resume, there's no way our fans should be calling for him to replace CAM.
  11. Yeah, Oakland lost, but they kinda showed some of Michigan's warts...Livers looked out of shape, and their defense isn't very good at staying in front of the ball... I'll say one thing though...the Dickinson kid at 7'1" can play in the post...Good inside post moves, good passer, and an at least adequate defender for a freshman.
  12. I know Kelvin Sampson can coach basketball. I just don't think he would have put the emphasis on academics and integrity that IU fans would like. Of course, winning would have won some over, but not everyone. I just can't see a kid like Cody Zeller playing for him. We talk about team chemistry all the time. I'm just not sure it would have worked long term. Could be wrong though...but I am glad he's gone.
  13. Jalen Moore (Cloverdale, In) is having a game against the Wolverines...
  14. I know there were a few people on this board that wanted to ditch Archie after 2019 for him. And I wouldn't trade Archie for him ..
  15. Took the words right out of my mouth, Scottie old boy...
  16. Brings up an interesting question... Could he have won at IU with the kind of kids we as a fan base want in our program?
  17. Or maybe everybody's darling from 2 years ago, Chris Beard, was a flash in the pan...
  18. The Marial kid for Maryland looks so bad it's comical. He's 7'2" and the Mt Saint Marys kids took it right at him and scored 3 straight times...
  19. Ah, here's why... "COVELLI CENTER DEBUT For the unaware: This game will be played at the Covelli Center instead of the Schottenstein Center. Why? Hockey games this weekend. It's the only game set to tip off at the Covelli Center this season, though it's an interesting venue given the lack of fans. It might, in fact, feel like a more normal arena since it's far less cavernous than the Schott."
  20. If our guards can keep CJ Walker and Duane Washington in front of them and Joey and Race can handle Liddell I think we'll beat ISU handily.
  21. Covelli Center. Normally their wrestling/gymnastics/volleyball venue...
