  1. Yep, Old Concrete Charlie. One of my all time favorites...
  2. Good guess, but he flew in B-27s. And the guy I'm thinking of made the HOF as a player...
  3. What football HOFer flew in 30 missions over Germany as a B-24 waist gunner and was awarded the Air Medal with four Oak Leaf Clusters, and the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with four Battle Stars?
  4. His first name is Lawrence...
  5. Very true...makes me wonder if at least in the early years of the NBA dropping the age requirement from 19 to 18 (and I'm not really sure where that's at...I thought it was going away in 2021) there won't be a logjam between high school entrants and 5th/6th year seniors not wanting to take advantage of the extra year of eligibility... Edit: the initial proposal had the OAD rule gone by the 2022 draft. The 2021 draft is on November 18th of this year, so it'll be interesting to see how it shakes out.
  6. They definitely have the ability to swoop in late and nab highly touted players...Same with Duke, and to a lesser extent UNC. I'm not sure even Virginia and Villanova can do that, or at least I haven't heard of them doing it. I think for the present we just have to do what most teams have to do... be on a kid for a early, and develop the relationship. Of course winning always helps that...
  7. That's the thing...The possibility does exist that every player on the IU roster will be back for 21-22. Odds are against it, but they are all eligible to come back. If that would happen, it'd be difficult for any freshman to see the floor. Maybe some of the high profile guys looked at that possibility. No thanks...I prefer the Virginia/Villanova model...
  8. My Dad worked at Bendix in Franklin from 1969 to 1986... I saw recently that their old site off of Hurricane St was being investigated as a polluter that caused a high rate of childhood cancers...
  9. Our neighbor's cow came over for a visit just the other day...
  10. Looks nice...I was going to pay someone to do something similar to put over our horse trailer...
  11. According to the article Melbourne (the epicenter) had already locked down for 3 1/2 months... And I don't see any testing statistics in there...
  12. Ah, I misunderstood...I thought you were saying Claire Underwood was the name of the actress that played Jenny...I knew the adult Jenny was played by Robin Wright (Spicoli's ex squeeze). I haven't seen "House of Cards" where apparently that's Robin Wright's characters name?
  13. I watched "Red River" on Grit this week...great movie
  14. I'm going to be honest with you, I've been in quite a few groceries, department stores, and restaurants in north Houston, up through Humble, The Woodlands, Conroe, Kingwood, and even in the backwater place I live, and I've yet to see anyone who's not complying with wearing a mask. You rebel Houstonians are the issue 😁
  15. I've been told I'll be working from home well into the 1st quarter of next year... Our work, at least new projects, are piling up... I've been eligible to retire for a while, but I won't leave yet...too many things started that I want to see through... My facility has lost one employee to COVID. Every night 2 or 3 centers go ATC-0 for 4 hours or so for a cleaning. Cleveland and Memphis have been the worst...
  16. Doo, doo, doo, lookin' out my back door...
  17. Was moseying through Costco (of course) today and found this... Ingredients: Salt, Sugar, Cranberries, Exhausted Vanilla Beans, Allspice, Apple, Black Pepper, Garlic, Orange Peel, Rosemary, Thyme, Bay Leaves and Sage I'm big time into brining especially poultry or pork...even have 2 plastic buckets specifically made for brining...they have a slotted lid that keeps the turkey/chicken/pork completely submerged...this is the smaller one... I highly recommend brining. Always get told my smoked turkey is the best people have ever had. Sidenote: you have to find a turkey that isn't already shot full of saline solution.
  18. The GREAT Walter Payton... I've always said Jim Brown was the greatest running back ever, but Sweetness was the greatest football player ever... One year the Bears QBs threw 17 interceptions, and Walter made the tackle on all but one... In college, he was a punter and place kicker... Block, catch passes, and I think he threw 8 touchdowns in his career...
