  1. Started watching Ken Burns' "Country Music" while on the mend from minor surgery. Through the first 6 episodes, and it is outstanding, like most of his others. My favorite episode is "The Hillbilly Shakespeare" (episode 3) which focuses on Hank Williams.
  2. Been watching Ken Burns documentary "Country Music" (which is outstanding, by the way) and Vince Gill said this about the male/female relationship... "At night it's hard to kiss the lips that have been chewing your ass all day." Pure gold...
  3. Heard Marty Schottenheimer say this on his "Football Life." "We're all useful, but none of us are necessary." Truer words...
  4. Not HH, but here's my neighbors yard this afternoon...
  5. I asked him if he was hungry... 20171021_091102_1_1.mp4 20171021_091102_1_1.mp4
  6. Good read on OAD players and the NCAA Tourney Good graphical representation that accounts for minutes played. One thing that may skew the data is, when a team has freshmen that shine in the tournament, it may spur them to go pro rather than remain in school. A "strike while the iron is hot" mentality...
  7. "I can bring to the table when it comes to Indiana (from day one) off the bench.” Don't know about anybody else, by that screams "whatever it takes to win" to me...
  8. Great read as always... You know, one guy that gets a lot of love from current, former, and in this case, prospective players is Clif Marshall. The guy is a real asset to the program. Jordan refers to him in TDH's article. I seriously hope we have him locked up for a while. He gets results.
  9. Yes, but transfers are kinda a bet the come as far as I'm concerned. Put the full court press on a recruit you like first, then if it don't work, look at transfers. Used to live in the Fort Walton Beach area, but now live in Texas. Just kept the user name from boards gone by...
  10. I think I read he had made unofficial visit to UVA, but I don't think they'd offered.
  11. I think the prevailing thought is that we need a big for this class...if Caleb Love doesn't chose IU. Next year, Brunk will be our only true center. I know some see TJD as a back-to-the-basket big man, but I personally don't. There's not much call in the NBA these days for 6-9 post up centers. And I would hate to see us back having to defend B10 bigs with 6-7 forwards again. So, in my mind, it's Garcia or Loveday, unless Love surprises us.
  12. I was gonna say the same thing...6'6" but what's the wingspan?
  13. The "Brotherhood of War" series by WEB Griffin, starting with the book "The Lieutenants" is a great series about military ops in the early 60s and how aviation was divided up in the wake of WW2 and before the advent of Vietnam. Brotherhood of War series
  14. Mila 18 by Leon Uris about the Polish ghettos in WW2 is a good historical read. Non fiction, The Autobiography of Malcolm X is fascinating...co authored by Alex Haley (Roots).
  15. That had to put quite a twist on a canoe adventure...
  16. Anyone ever been in the middle of a weather event? I've been through a tropical storm (Alberto 1994) and 2 hurricanes (Erin and Opal 1995). Mother nature is nothing to mess with.
  17. I'll throw in one other thing...having lived in Greenland for a year (and unless there are enough natural resources to power the planet for a million years, they can keep that icecube) once it goes past -20 (coldest I saw was -45) there's not a helluva lot of difference on the miserability scale.
  18. I can't remember the exact year (90? 91?) when my family and I traveled back on our yearly Christmas time trek to Terre Haute from the Florida panhandle. Was 32 when we left Fort Walton Beach, -8 in Birmingham and a wake you up -22 in Vincennes. When we upacked at Mom's house, I forgot to bring in a 6 pack of soda which exploded. Luckily, it was so cold it immediately froze and I picked the whole mess up with 1 hand. Didn't even leave a stain.
  19. Not really criminals, just being Texans I would imagine the first word the cops heard from them is, "Whut?" At first I was puzzled that they were going to a museum...til I read it was the Harley Davidson museum...Ahhhhhh
  20. Had to put this guy in the HSN Stupid Criminals HOF Karma can be funny...
  21. New Texas Justice! "Are ya hungry?"
  22. I live in a small town in southeast Texas, where a sizable portion of thier revenue is money collected for traffic violations. I've been in the jury pool twice. First time, only 3 people, including myself, showed up, so I felt obligated. Turns out it's better than anything on TV (it's night court). I've had jury cohorts dressed in moo-moos, house coats, and overalls. About all of them are older than me, and half carry oxygen tanks, but still hustle out to butt one off during jury breaks. The lawyers are not creme de la creme, but are entertaining none the less. I might suffer from a tinge of civic duty, but the entertainment value keeps me coming back.
  23. Ah, good old Reggie Harding. I remember his short stint with the Pacers. Guy was quite a physical specimen. I recall that he was shot dead somewhere in a street altercation when he was still a relatively young man.
